So glad you had your earphones on for this one. I love how the voices echo back and forth between them. This is truly a "Rock Opera." You get rock, you get opera. Just a genius way they mashed it into an iconic song. The guitarist is Brain May, who is an astrophysicist when he isn't ripping up the guitar. Amazing. RIP Freddie.

I didn't realize you hadn't reacted to any Queen songs. Good place to start. The lead singer, Freddie Mercury, was an incredible singer. You've definitely heard some of their songs but just didn't know who it was. Their song "Another One Bites the Dust" got heavy airplay on R&B stations. You've gotta check that out!

Easily on my top three greatest songs ever written. As great a song as anything Lennon/McCartney wrote with The Beatles and that's as high of praise as I can give. My second favorite band only behind of course, The Beatles. Saw Queen live in Pittsburgh in 1974. Greatest live band in history, they were incredible. Freddie Mercury owned the stage. Greatest front man in history even ahead of Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones.
Check out the video for "Don't Stop Me Now" it's great.
    Peace ❤

This groundbreaking song was written by the singer, Freddie Mercury, who is also the sole singer in those harmonies you commented on in the beginning of the song, accomplished by recording himself in layers. This has no autotune or other modern attributes. It was recorded on tape, layer by layer with just the 4 members skill and talent.

Those high falsetto notes were done by Queen’s drummer, Roger Taylor. His backing vocals while shredding his kit are legendary. You’ve entered the Queen rabbit hole. Any genre you like. metal? Yep. Hard rock? Of course, heartbreaking storytelling? No problem. Romantic ballads? Blues? Gospel? Country? Old English Music Hall? Old 1920s sounding novelty songs? Honky Tonk? Opera? 1950s Rock and Roll? All covered by Queen. And MORE! Reactors have built their channel reacting to Queen. We fans are legion, rabid and always ready to watch and subscribe to channels that react to Queen. Don’t be shy. Keep your Queen list growing. You will not be disappointed…EVER!

Ahhh, but you DO know some Queen songs! "We Will Rock You," and "We Are the Champions" for sure. You will know the bass line Vanilla Ice stole from Queen's "Under Pressure," and maybe know "Another One Bites the Dust." "Bohemian Rhapsody" is their most famous song and the one that has won the most awards. This video is often considered the first Music Video. Queen is my jam! I could go on forever about them, but you let them unfold. They are amazing. I second the comment from below: "Somebody to Love" from the Montreal 1981 concert. You will remember its beauty always!

An extra wild reaction 🤯! Bohemian Rhapsody was released as the lead single from Queen's 1975 album: A Night At The Opera. It was written by Freddie Mercury. It was produced by Roy Thomas Baker and Queen. The song reached #9 on the Hot 100. In the US, the song peaked at #9 in 1976, but reached a new peak of #2 after appearing in the 1992 film: Wayne's World. The music video was directed by Bruce Gowers. The music video has been hailed as launching the MTV age.Queen made a music video for the song to air on Top Of The Pops, a popular British music show, because the song was too complex to perform live, or more accurately, to be mimed live, on TOTP. The song parodies elements of opera with bombastic choruses, sarcastic recitative, and distorted Italian operatic phrases. Lyrical references include Scaramouche, the fandango, Galileo Galilei, Figaro, and Beelzebub, Bismillah!.
In 2002, Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" was voted "the UK's favorite hit of all time" in a poll conducted by the Guinness World Records British Hit Singles Book. In 2004, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Many scholars consider the "Bohemian Rhapsody" music video ground-breaking, crediting it with popularizing the medium and ushering in the MTV era.
It has appeared in numerous polls of the greatest songs in popular music, including a ranking at number 17 on Rolling Stone's list of "the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. A Rolling Stone readers' poll ranked Freddie Mercury's vocal performance as the greatest in Rock history.
In December 2018, "Bohemian Rhapsody" became the most-streamed song from the 20th century, and the most-streamed classic Rock song of all time. The number of downloads of the song and original video exceeded 1.6 billion across global on-demand streaming services. In March 2021, it was certified Diamond in the US for combined digital sales and streams equal to 10 million units.
Freddie Mercury wrote the lyrics, and there has been a lot of speculation as to their meaning. Many of the words appear in the Qu'ran. "Bismillah" is one of these - it literally means "In the name of Allah". The word "Scaramouch" means "A stock character that appears as a boastful coward". "Beelzebub" is one of the many names given to The Devil.
Freddie Mercury's parents were deeply involved in Zoroastrianism, and these Arabic words do have a meaning in that religion. His family grew up in Zanzibar, but was forced out by government upheaval in 1964 and they moved to England. Some of the lyrics could be about leaving his homeland behind. Guitarist Brian May seemed to suggest this when he said in an interview about the song: "Freddie was a very complex person: flippant and funny on the surface, but he concealed insecurities and problems in squaring up his life with his childhood. He never explained the lyrics, but I think he put a lot of himself into that song".
Another explanation is not to do with Freddie Mercury's childhood, but his sexuality - it was around this time that he was starting to come to terms with his bisexuality, and his relationship with Mary Austin was falling apart.
Whatever the meaning is, we may never know - Freddie Mercury himself remained tight-lipped, and the band agreed not to reveal anything about the meaning. Freddie Mercury himself stated, "It's one of those songs which has such a fantasy feel about it. I think people should just listen to it, think about it, and then make up their own minds as to what it says to them". He also claimed that the lyrics were nothing more than "Random rhyming nonsense" when asked about it by his friend Kenny Everett, who was a London DJ.
The band were always keen to let listeners interpret their music in a personal way to them, rather than impose their own meaning on songs, and Brian May stated that the band agreed to keep the personal meaning behind the song private out of respect for Freddie Mercury.
    Song Credits📝:
Freddie Mercury - lead and backing vocals, piano, operatic vocals (middle register)
Brian May - electric guitar, operatic vocals (low register)
Roger Taylor - drums, timpani, gong, operatic vocals (high register)
    John Deacon - bass guitar
    Queen Info 📰📝:
Queen are a British Rock band formed in London in 1970 by Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), and later joined by John Deacon (bass). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive Rock, Hard Rock, and Heavy Metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as Arena Rock and Pop Rock. Queen drew artistic influence from British Rock acts of the 1960s and early 1970s including: The Beatles, The Kinks, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, Black Sabbath, Slade, Deep Purple, David Bowie, Genesis and Yes. With Freddie Mercury also personally inspired by Little Richard, Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin.
Queen has released 15 studio albums, 10 live albums, 16 compilation albums, two soundtrack albums, 2 extended plays, 73 singles, and seven promotional singles. Since the 1970s, Queen has sold 300 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling artists in history. According to RIAA, Queen has sold 97.7 million certified records in the US.
Before forming Queen, Brain May and Roger Taylor had played together in the band Smile. Freddie Mercury was a fan of Smile and encouraged them to experiment with more elaborate stage and recording techniques. He joined in 1970 and suggested the name "Queen". John Deacon was recruited in February 1971, before the band released their self-titled debut album: Queen, in 1973. Queen first charted in the UK with their second album: Queen II, in 1974. The group's album: Sheer Heart Attack, later that same year and their album: A Night At The Opera, in 1975 brought them international success. The latter featured the single: "Bohemian Rhapsody", which stayed at number one in the UK for nine weeks and helped popularize the music video format.
The band's 1977 album: News Of The World contained the singles: "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions", which have become anthems at sporting events. By the early 1980s, Queen were one of the biggest stadium Rock bands in the world. The band's single: "Another One Bites The Dust", from their album: The Game (1980), became their best-selling single, while their 1981 compilation album: Greatest Hits, is the best-selling album in the UK and has been certified 9x Platinum in the US. Their performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert is ranked among the greatest in Rock history by various publications. In August 1986, Freddie Mercury gave his last performance with Queen at Knebworth, England. Though he kept his condition private, Freddie Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987.
The band released two more albums: The Miracle (1989) and Innuendo (1991). One more album was released featuring Freddie Mercury's vocals titled: Made In Heaven (1995). John Deacon retired in 1997, while Brian May and Roger Taylor continued to make sporadic appearances together. Since 2004, they have toured as "Queen +", with vocalists Paul Rodgers and Adam Lambert.
Queen provided music for films including the entire soundtrack for the film: "Flash Gordon" (1980). The band also contributed music to the 1986 film: Highlander with the songs: "A Kind Of Magic", "One Year Of Love", "Who Wants To Live Forever", "Hammer To Fall" and "Princes Of The Universe", which was also used as the theme of the Highlander TV series (1992-1998).
In 2018, the Bryan Singer directed biographical musical drama film: "Bohemian Rhapsody", was released. It's the story of the legendary British rock band Queen and lead singer Freddie Mercury, leading up to their famous performance at Live Aid (1985). It was well received by audiences and became a major box office success, grossing over $910.8 million worldwide. Bohemian Rhapsody received numerous accolades, including a leading four wins at the 91st Academy Awards for Best Actor (Malek), Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing; it was also nominated for Best Picture. The film also won Best Motion Picture - Drama at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, and was nominated for the Producers Guild of America Award for Best Theatrical Motion Picture and BAFTA Award for Best British Film, while Malek won the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and BAFTA for Best Actor.
Queen still performs their music live on stage in 2023.

      Freddie Mercury Passing 🙏:
After the conclusion of his work with Queen in June 1991, Mercury retired to his home in Kensington, West London. His former partner, Mary Austin, was a particular comfort in his final years, and in the last few weeks made regular visits to look after him.[156] Near the end of his life, Mercury began to lose his sight, and declined so that he was unable to leave his bed.[156] Mercury chose to hasten his death by refusing medication and took only painkillers.[156] On 22 November 1991, Mercury called Queen's manager Jim Beach to his Kensington home to prepare a public statement, which was released the following day:
Following the enormous conjecture in the press over the last two weeks, I wish to confirm that I have been tested HIV positive and have AIDS. I felt it correct to keep this information private to date to protect the privacy of those around me. However, the time has come now for my friends and fans around the world to know the truth and I hope that everyone will join with me, my doctors and all those worldwide in the fight against this terrible disease. My privacy has always been very special to me and I am famous for my lack of interviews. Please understand this policy will continue.
On the evening of November 24, 1991, about 24 hours after issuing the statement, Freddie Mercury died at the age of 45 at his home in Kensington. The cause of death was bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS.
Freddie Mercury's funeral service was conducted on November 27, 1991 by a Zoroastrian priest at West London Crematorium, where he is commemorated by a plinth under his birth name. In attendance at Freddie Mercury's service were his family and 35 of his close friends, including Elton John and the members of Queen. His coffin was carried into the chapel to the sounds of "Take My Hand, Precious Lord"/"You've Got A Friend" by Aretha Franklin. In accordance with Freddie Mercury's wishes, Mary Austin took possession of his cremated remains and buried them in an undisclosed location. The whereabouts of his ashes are believed to be known only to Mary Austin, who has said that she will never reveal them.
