The truth is that 'music videos' have been made for a very long time (Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison has a non-performance based video made in 1958), but the video for Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975 was considered pretty much the first to be used to commercially sell the record.
As it was such a huge success (9 weeks at UK no.1 spot) it is remembered as 'the first' and made such an impact that other artists and bands began making videos and almost ten years after Bo Rhap, MTV was created.

@@grandtheftmanualv945 Pretty Woman is from 1964. But yes, there were a few, not many, music videos made before Bohemian Rhapsody. However this video took the art of music video making to a new level.

They won our hearts from that day on. Please continue with your song voyage and always keep that open minded swagger young man. Be safe my friend. From Pennsylvania to you. God Bless.

Thanks for reacting to this song and video which has more than 1.3 Billion views on CZcams. Queen are widely recognized as one of the top rock bands of all time and often as the greatest live rock band of all time. The band consists of Freddie Mercury, lead singer and piano, Brian May lead guitarist and vocals, Roger Taylor drummer and vocals, and John Deacon, bass guitar. Each of them are songwriters with hit songs and are all members are in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Freddie is also known as one of, if not THE greatest rock frontman if all time, while Brian May has been recognized as one of the best rock guitarist of all time. Bohemian Rhapsody is considered to be one of the greatest rock songs of all times, included being listed as number 1 in some polls. The band began in 1971 and is celebrating 50 years this year. Queen has had numerous hit songs which i believe you will recognize -such as Another One Bites The Dust (official video), We Are The Champions and We Will Rock You, both live at Wembley 1986.

Nice reaction. Queen is a British rock band, they are the 4th best selling artist of all time. You have heard some Queen songs, such as We Will Rock You or We Are The Champions. Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the best selling songs of all time, it has 5 different sections and 49 different cords (most song today have 1 - 4 cords). This is also the first real music video. A "Bohemian" is a unique artist, a Rhapsody is an epic tale or life story. Lead singer Freddie Mercury is most often chosen as the best vocalist of all time. Bohemian Rhapsody is a rock opera it falls under the genre of Progressive Rock. It is a more complex genre of rock where artists add jazz and classical music to rock, it does have a lot of experimentation. The song goes through the 5 stages of grieve. The middle or operatic section is a trial for his soul between heaven and hell. The song is a journey it is like a tragic opera.
Queen did any genre of music, that was available at the time. You should check out Another One Bites The Dust from Queen it is a very funky song, it is a song that is often sampled in hiphop.

After you get your head around what you just experienced, the first ever rock opera, think about this. All of that came from the mind of Freddy Mercury, the composer, singer-opera style and rock, harmony section, piano player, and costume designer. All of these guys finished their uni degrees and have serious jobs too, the lead guitarist, Brian May, made his guitar from scratch, with help from his dad.

I don't know what genre you prefer, but Queen will deliver it at its best. You are more into hip hop for example? Check out "Queen feat. Wycleaf Jean" or "Under Pressure" < that's where Vanilla Ice stole his "Ice, Ice Baby"-tune from! Yes, he got sued for that! But they did Blues, Pop, Rock, Disco, Hymns, Metal, Classic mostly combinend ... and Freddie Solo did even an opera! A lot to discover left! :-)

Fun Facts - Queen is one of the best selling artists of all time. Each member of Queen are in the Song Writer’s Hall of Fame & Rock n Roll Hall of Fame on their own merits. Each member have written top hits & no other band can make that claim. Bohemian Rhapsody was certified Platinum sales status by the RIAA for the most streamed song in the 20th Century. Also, the first pre1990s song to reach over a billion views. This masterpiece was written by Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano) who is still considered the best vocalist in the world. Just Google it. Other band members are Brian May, Roger Taylor, & John Deacon. 👑

Bohemian: socially unconventional in an artistic way. Rhapsody: in music is a one-movement work that is episodic yet integrated, free-flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, color, and tonality. An air of spontaneous inspiration and a sense of improvisation make it freer in form than a set of variations. That is what the title means. After that, nobody actually knows what the song means, Freddie Mercury never said, he left it up to the listener to draw their own conclusions. This song is iconic as is the band Queen. Freddie Mercury is a legend. Excellent reaction! Thank you.

  • @grandtheftmanualv945
    @grandtheftmanualv945 Před 2 lety +3

Queen have songs that cover almost any kind of genre, both in their hits as well as their album tracks.
Queen are also some of the greatest pop/rock musicians and among the most successful songwriters (yes, each band member is a no.1 hit writer individually) in popular music history.
Lead singer Freddie Mercury is widely and often cited as the greatest front man (lead singer of a band) by people who are not even Queen fans and also widely regarded as the greatest rock singer having a huge range both in terms of pitch and also textures.
Brian May, lead guitarist is widely regarded as the greatest guitarist of all time, and certainly in many top ten lists, and uses a guitar he and his father built from household junk in the 1960s!
Bohemian Rhapsody is very 'out there' in comparison to most popular music, but don't let that fool you into thinking that is how Queen sound!
Queen sound changes with every song, but you always know it's Queen.

Bohemian has more then one meaning, a "Bohemian" is an artists, someone who does not follow the usual rules of society, like a hippy for example. A Rhapsody is an epic tale or story or poem about someone's life. Or is is movement in classical music. The title actually says that it is the life story or tale about an artist. But I think Freddie is referring more to an entertainer in this case.

I was a kid when this song first came out. It was a boundary-breaker: no other artist had ever put a song like this before. I was amazed at what you might call the three-act structure but didn't put it on my (audio cassette) playlist because it was something you experienced more than danced to throughout. As my appreciation for artistry and expression and cumulative life experiences have grown, the more I am in awe of their heaven-high talent and musicality.

Queen went WAY beyond Genre Ejay. They were so talented, so unique, and so eclectic, that they really were hard to classify. They truly were to Rock -Pop music what Mozart was to classical. They deserved and earned every letter in the word GENIUS. Every major artist of the past three to four decades wanted to collaborate with Queen, and many did . You should go listen to Michael Jackson and Queens collaborative song " There Must Be More To Life Than This" . Even Lady GaGa was a huge Queen Fan , and actually derived her name from one of their songs "Radio GaGa".

Good for you! I have been a Queen since I first heard them in the 70’s. Even so, I don’t expect everyone to love them. But I am baffled by your reaction cuz even tho you had a lot of facial expressions while you were listening to it, you didn’t have anything of substance to say about it, all in all, except that it wasn’t your genre of music. You had to have known that going in; otherwise you probably would have heard Bohemian Rhapsody before…. considering it’s been out for 45+ years now and literally billions of people have heard it. Not being overly impressed by either Freddie’s voice or the song itself puts you in in a comparatively small club, but respect to you for giving an honest reaction! It might be worth your time to listen to more Queen music. You’d find that you actually are familiar with some Queen songs (even tho you don’t realize it) and that there is a lot more to Queen than what you hear in Bohemian Rhapsody. I don’t know what your genre of music is, but whatever it is, if it’s one that became popular from 1980 forward, then Queen and other music performers of that high caliber and with that huge of an influence on the art world actually paved the way and made room for your music genre to exist.

A Rhapsody is a collection of connected but different musical themes. Bohemian in this context indicated something a little unconventional. Sums up the song very well

Little fun fact I learned today. Y’all may know already. Meaning of couple words in Queen Bohemian Rhapsody. Portion of song, We will not let you go: Opera portion, if you will.
"Bismillah" is one of these and it literally means "In the name of Allah." The word "Scaramouch" means "A stock character that appears as a boastful coward." “Fandango, a popular dance. Almost clown dance. "Beelzebub" is one of the many names given to The Devil.
    Genius. Pure genius.

Please react to Pentatonix cover of this masterpiece, I promise you’ll appreciate what they did with no instruments (of course). There are two brilliant versions if Bohemian Rhapsody: Queen & Pentatonix
