One day when I was at my friend's house I was talking to her dad, somehow the topic got into instruments. I told him on how I love the sounds of a hurdy gurdy, his eyes lit up and he bolted to his bedroom and came back a few seconds later with a hurry gurdy strapped to him and dancing while he played it

Not that it's of any importance, but in the book Dune by Frank Herbert, a futuristic instrument called a baliset is described. For years I thought it was an entirely fictional instrument, a sort of cross between a piano and a guitar with a spinning wheel within it, but it just occured to me that the hurdy gurdy is almost precisely identical. Not sure how I feel about that.

The reason being is that as time went on the hurdy gurdy slowly started to fall out of favor with people, to the point that the only way you can see and hear one was in the hands of drifters and beggers, to the point that in the germanic speaking areas the people that used it where called, and you will have to fact check me on this one, lierman, and the conenectin was rather negative . Only reason it even survived was cos of the french aristocracy liking it cos it sounded to them like they where having a simple peasant life. @@yiayiosmalakas9076 Iirc, back in the medieval times when Byzantium was still around, Byzantium often went to war with the Arabian countries to their east. I believe the struggles went back and fourth, with Byzantium winning some wars while the Arabian countries won others, causing territory to shift back and fourth depending on the war. There was a lot of hostility between the two sides, and lot's of people died. Although I'm not entirely sure, I think the point of Blueberry's comment is that the specific timestamp they provided gave them an overall feeling analogous to Byzantium soldiers, deep in Arabian territory, clashing head on with Arabian soldiers. That is to say, the music would fit with such a scene if it were played out in a movie or something. I could be wrong, but that's my interpretation of their comment. If it's actually something else, then I just made a fool out of myself. :P
