I’m cleaning out my 78 year old dads house, he passed in December. I just found a piece of paper with this band and song written on it. It was in his music room, with countless other lists of songs and bands he wanted to check out. I’m 52, he was 78, my eldest is 32. We all listen to you, and we didn’t even know the others did. ❤
Blessings of healing and strength for you and may your father fly free with the great spirit
You say music room, Did he play music himself? Or was it just to vibe or maybe a bit of both?

Its actually one of the most important parts. Imagine going to a concert like this and the bone boy/girl misses a note?

My fiance took me to see them several years ago in Glasgow. I really knew nothing about them and was pretty skeptical about the show but she loved them and so I did it for her. What can I say. I was blown away, mesmerized by the sights and sounds. Captivated from the second they started. I've been to many, many shows and concerts over the years. I even saw Nirvana in 92' but no show has ever compared to seeing Heilung Live.....
Go see Ghost
I truly adore Heilung and sadly because I live in Alaska USA I’ve yet to see them live. The Nordic Mythology Podcast interviewed them. They’ve interviewed Kai and Maria separately as well. I suggest checking those podcasts out.
They are performing a spiritual ritual, a blot or a sacrifice on stage. You happen to be a apart of that ritual. Humanity is missing this. That which is sacred. Nothing is sacred to humans anymore. We just defile this world and each other without care. Religion is a world denying view on its own. You have to be animistic and have deep respect for the land around you. Humans have survived for so long because we’ve known we’ve had to coexist. But now, we are destroying those connections with each other and making war over trivial garbage. It’s sad really.
So it was your fiancee, not your fiancé. Moron.
Saying nirvana and this group in the same sentence is interesting... Strange
@@alaskabornheathen8902 what exactly are they doing that makes this a ritual?

As a Mohican native American I can really appreciate their tradition. We are one from the oneness of US ALL. The creator, great mystery or God if you would prefer. Migisi=Eagle "Spirit Horse". My Indigenous North American Name.
I wish more people would see this truth, the evidence is there no matter the name that you call it, I wish humanity could unite and explore the great work together
One of the problems is that this oneness is for many religious people something which exists somewhere after death. Christianity misses such a katalysator like grandfather peyote is for native americans. I would appreciate if there would be a native American church in Europe introducing us into the mystery of oneness and make it an real experience by guided peyote ceremonies.

I’ve seen 2 live shows in the US, loved both of them! For those who aren’t familiar with this band, their goal is to create an authentic experience using traditional techniques. It’s basically “amplified history" - a genre of their own design. It was more than just a concert.

The reason why Heilung is named healing, it's because they're Shamans and their purpose is to heal. Music is a very spiritual tool that can heal almost anything, especially the music made by a shaman. Their concerts aren't music, they're rituals meant to heal and bless the audience who watches them, and with technology that blessing passes to us. Healing in the Germanic mindset is to take a hot blade and hold it to the wound. This burns out infection and molds the flesh together. Heilung is the hot blade and our souls and broken connection to earth and Natur are the two sides of the wound. They heal that connection. This is my understanding of Heilung. Viele Grüße aus Deutschland 🇩🇪
Viel Liebe und Dank für eure Musik aus Schleswig-Holstein.

For those who are confused on the time frame of what this is representing, it's not necessarily "Vikings," and more or less not Neolithic.
It's Proto-Germanic she's singing here, and in most of their music. It's Pre-Migration Period, 600 years before the Vikings, ~1st Century CE til ~550 when Elder Futhark broke into Younger Futhark. It's based on historical linguistic reconstruction and snippets of text found archeologically and through Tacitus & Saxo Grammaticus, some of which were carved in runes on bone fragments, or described pejoratively by Latin writers, who described the throat singing as like "howling dogs," when it would sound provisionally like in this video, inferred by the Sammi, Mongol, Indigenous Greenland, and Faroese traditions which survived the ages relatively unchanged.
Then they kinda do this English language "rap," which is based on descriptions of Galdralag and Seiðalag -- no surviving examples of which exist outside of very, very scant snippets in the Poetic and Prose Edda, and in descriptions by Saxo Grammaticus and possibly by Tacitus. The low growling and hissing, the forked fingers, is based on descriptions of Seiðr magic. That kind of image survived in the inspiration of "witches" which Christians were afraid of deeply, who were real people practicing a similar indigenous artform, and came to become an abstracted meme of its own that evolved & mutated into the 21st century in a vague smear of pop culture idioms.

Here after the game awards… never heard of this band until then but I can’t stop listening to them and I’m not typically into this type of music but something about them is so ominous and haunting, yet mesmerizing
I can feel it in my veins every note it’s like a pulse the ball that forms in your body hearing this … it’s primal energy and that’s at our raw core …because we all came from the state of rock to rock and fire being made from it … it hits
Was their music in one of the nominated games? I didn’t follow much of the awards.
@@CocktailKnightno but it was in the trailer for the Senua’s Sacrifice sequel; they preformed it live before the trailer
Smh. Damn this is powerful. Had me sharpening my battle axe without even realizing it.
You can tell by that slight smile on Maria’s face as the horns start that this is one of her favorites and she absolutely loves doing it.
There’s also the audience’s reactions which are a joy to watch for the artists. Must be hard keeping a serious face and not pop a silly smile lol.
This is the first time they played live. It melts my brain,
I'm sure she loves it, but the face was deadpan the whole time. Let's be real here.
I'm sure they love to perform their thing.
That little smirk gives me full wood for some reason.
"Oh, you're in a band? Cool! What instrument do you play?"
"I hit a frying pan with an antler."
So drums? Percussion?
rather unfunny comment
lmao
Rick Deckard I disagree, Definitely made me lol, mmmyes indeed . thanks I needed that
"I play the bones."
"That doesn't sound ver-"
"THE BONES OF MY ENEMIES!"
"...okay, *that's* metal."
I would give anything to see them live. What an experience. ❤
The scream will always give me chills, 6 years later.
