The movie wants people to think of her as a “lunch lady,” not a business owner. Lunch ladies are looked down upon and business owners aren’t, so it wouldn’t make sense to emphasize what she really does. She just serves food to kids, and that automatically makes you really poor, and strips you of any and all respect /s.

I'm kinda curious now if they did and I just don't remember, I'm gonna ask my bff from school and see if he remembers something I don't. If you want, I'll update you on what he says.

IRL the Jonas Brothers HATED how they're portrayed in Disney movies/shows, especially Kevin, they would constantly sneak in shitty performances, dance stupid, try to basically sabatoge their on camera presence so Disney would use them less when they were under contract, Disney was also super abusive to their female leads, strict weight control, they'd be pushed to do movies they didn't want to, all for movies and shows that we only remember because we were young and impressionable so now it translates to nostalgia

Yeah, out of all the dishes they could have chosen that are more complicated or might need exact measurements, they chose one that most people cook by just throwing ingredients together and seasoning by feeling lol
I don't think I've ever used a recipe to make chilli (but I also don't make it authentic and use seasoning mixes so who knows)
My first instinct with that scene was "oh, she probably needs the recipe because she is making a portion size of 300 (as she says) so she needs the recipe for the scaled up ingredient amounts!" but then i remembered she could have just used a calculator to multiply the amounts lol
Mitchie’s mom being upset at the reveal seems fair considering she just learned her daughter is embarrassed by her to the point where she felt the need to lie to everyone at camp about her career.
Or even, just her lying. Because, usually parents want to believe they raised their children better than to lie; so when the child lies, the parents usually are disappointed or even angry.

IDK if thats true, you might be confusing camp counseling with education counseling. In my experience counselors are around 16-18 years old, or even the same age as the campers because its all volunteering work.

4:46 as someone who grew up with an older brother who loved the drums, this is 100% accurate. He had different drumsticks around the house that he would pick up and fiddle/play with an any given moment. He had a pair hidden in the couch. This went on from 10 ish years old into his early 20s. And he only stopped cause he moved out.

And then there's also the second type of Disney Channel original movies that's about a socially outcasted teenager who gets ahold of military grade and extremely dangerous technology and uses it to design their ideal version of the opposite sex while simultaneously robbing them of their humanity, and that plan ends up backfiring and the conclusion is just "yea maybe I shouldn't have done that"

As a former percussionist in my schools band I can confirm that drummers drum on EVERYTHING
I personally always liked that Margaret won. Mitchie did lie all summer, and even if she was talented, she only came up at the very end after they announced jury will decide. Its like the only ever teen movie where the main character had at least some consequences for her actions. Sure she had the guy and everybody was impressed, but at least there was no bitterness that other campers could feel if she had been a lying and then won even tho the contest was already closed. The applause would sound very salty
Not to mention that Margaret winning gave that feel that sure Mitchie is talented and the main character but she's not the ONLY talented person here.

My thoughts exactly!! Don’t get me wrong..Danny is hilarious and usually always right…but that part of the movie is definitely accurate!! My big brother is a drummer; has always banged on everything with his sticks or just his hands! He still does it (in his 40’s now)!! Hell, my dad was the lead singer in a band (and played guitar), and he was always slapping his knees and banging on everything to keep the rhythm whenever he heard music!
I’ve been playing the drums for ten years and I’m constantly tapping my foot/tapping a beat on my thighs. a lot of drummers over time just find rhythm in literally everything and wanna play along lol

i really feel bad for demi bc they're really strong considering what they went through especially during the work on disney channel
from what i can remember they said in a doco that they had many addictions to drugs, was SA'd by their dealer and a co-star. they had three strokes, a heart attack and vision issues. demi also had ED's and was bullied when they were young, plus their management was monitoring their food consumption, even taking phones out of their hotel rooms and barracading the door to keep demi from potentially getting room service or something. they said that they felt pressured to stay with dc cause demi was the one who really got the money in their family, so they were supporting their family a lot.

My biggest issue with all these Disney movies is that the teenagers/pre-teen characters have bedrooms the size of a literal studio apartment. My childhood bedroom was like 8’x9’ like come on now

No movie proves this point more than High School Musical where Gabriella has like a thousand square foot bedroom with a balcony in the home her single mother was able to afford!? Like where did her mom sleep?

How we feel seeing Margret win the whole competition after a weirdly emotional performance when we know very little about her is probably how all the side characters in Disney movies feel about the protagonist's journey.
Like imagine just a random camper being like "wait who? Mitchie? Oh I think I've seen her at lunch once or twice? Oh she lied about her parents? Okay? Oh now she's doing a big song? Oh now that super famous pop star is joining in? Okay I don't really know what's going on, I feel like I missed a lot of pivotal moments concerning her this summer".

As a percussionist, I'd say the drumming on everything is actually pretty accurate. As long as you have drumsticks. As soon as they enter my hand, I'm banging them on everything, and I see my fellow percussionists do the same thing.
