Finally someone who speaks fluent English. (Please this is not meant to be racist.) Thank you for your expertise. You give information that makes you go and search for further ideas. I've got a tin ear but love the setups that interact visually and require thought and not so much cost.
To me i believe put the same amount of $ in your sound as you do in your TV/Projector
65 inch 4K Q90R $3,000 with a $3,000 sound system is ideal
I picked out a 5.1.2 system for $3,000
Pioneer 9.2 channel AVR $500
SVS book shelves 2 pairs $1,000
SVS ultra center channel $700
Klipsch Subwoofer $500
SVS Prime elevation speakers one pair $600
Plus taxes and warranties
About $3,000
Why didn't you go with a SVS sub to round out everything else? And why two pair of bookshelves? Also how did you get a 9.2 for $500 my Denon 9.2 was 1700. I'm not judging just learning. I have elac bookshelves for starters paired with a SVS subwoofer. The elac bookshelves sound great but I want to eventually get floor standing and Center Channel to match and be all the same. I do think the Denon 4500 is overpriced with all the bells and whistles and I do plan on adding an external amp. But I am a beginner and just trying to see what everyone it's getting in liking.
Ur name should be techno boss. Someone has to be the boss. Ur really helpful bro and the time you take is appreciated. Thanks
Thank you so much dizzle!
I love Onkyo receivers because they're the swiss army knife of receivers. They are reasonable price and they always pack advance technology and features in their receivers. One thing about creating a home theater is you can go cheap or you can go extremely expensive. I have friends right now that still haven't completed their home theater because they went big and the cost is so expensive they don't have all the pieces yet. I feel you can have a nice 3d sound without all the cost if you shop around. Electronics are always advancing so look for past or current model humbler home theater equipment and you can find awesome deals.
I would much rather they put more money into the power supply than add streaming capabilities that most people already have on every other device in their setup. It's redundant and totally mismanaging the budget. If you somehow don't already have a device that handles your streaming needs grab a Roku, they're cheap enough that these capabilities being added to the receiver is just a flat out waste that could've been used to provide more, and cleaner power which should be the deciding factor on the receiver anyways. Atmos is worth the extra money but so many other features in them are already done way better in many other common home theater devices and are just to be able to add more logos on the front of the receiver and Jack up the price.
So true, I use a Sonos connect so all the features advertised - Bluetooth, Airplay, Chromecast, Heos,.Musicast, voice assist, extra zone etc etc no use for me, just need decent power. So many features and high price and to upgrade to a 9.2 receiver costs upwards of 2k AU$, just give me good price 9.2 without all the bells and whistles lol
Agreed
I wish they made a high end receiver that didn't have all extra streaming bloat ware, wifi and only HDMI ins and outs. It's cool that some can handle 4 ohm monitors with "Direct Energy" not Mosfet. Thinking it would be best to get models a couple years old
I always check-out the back side. Oh ya.
LOL!! You know it!!
Thats what he said
I upgraded to the Denon AVR-X440H. (On Sale) Night and day difference in power. I do plan to add an amp down the road so the 2 channel number was not a major concern. Current setup 7.1 with Sub.
If you just use your PC as the server it can do all the decoding and switching, and the amp can do the dac stuff, and powering the speakers. The problem is that I haven't found a decent home cinema software program that does it all.
I own the ONKYO TX RZ820. I got it for $500 on sale. Preouts are great, very powerful but I run a separate amp. Williston Audio Labs does amp dyno tests on youtube. He amp dyno tested a TX RZ810 and it beat the stated specs. It has same amp as RZ820 and it will drive my 15" fronts pretty good, still run a separate amp. Lots of functions, sounds great, Bluetooth, I would recommend it for the price.
If you are going for a $1200 AVR, you could go for the Outlaw Pre-Pro and the 5 channel amp or look into the Monoprice power amps. Outlaw's upper end power amps and Monoprice amps are probably made by ATI but for much less $. Look for a reasonably priced Pre-Pro and a separate power amp. It's a better investment. It's like buying a motorhome vs a Diesel pickup with a fifth-wheeler. You'll still have a great power amp when the AVR or Pre-pro is obsolete.
I purchased my av receiver from accessaries 4 less and must say I could not be happier. They are mostley refurbished but some are new. Mine was refurbished. I have owned it for 3 years now and not a single issue. I purchased the Onkyo HT693R I beleive is the midel but I may be off a little on that. Bottom line is it is a dolby atmos 5.2.2 av receiver that serves my purpose well. Check them out if you have not. I know Crutchfeild is generally very expensive. At least on car audio anyway.
Let's see an updated version of today's 2 or 3 to choose from in any store you go to. Never ones I want either .
I have a Pioneer VSX-LX301. Pros: I switch from 7.1 surround to 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos and back with my remote without having to change any wires. I can see what speakers are currently on directly on the front display. Cons: At exactly 30 minutes every time the receiver makes a single click noise like the sound from selecting a new source. Another con is when switching sources sometimes I have to power off and back on the receiver to get sound or picture on my 4K Sony TV.
Tim Terrell You may have a faulty AV receiver. If it's under warranty I would have them take look. In the future I'm looking at getting the LX-901 when the price is right.
Just picked up a B&K Components AVR 505. The face is flawless but I had the shell powder coated, so now it's like new. This 55 pounder sounds amazing and is built like a tank. It's for a guest room and is all I need. Atmos can wait.
32 bit/384kHz Burr Brown DAC here ...Just upgraded from my 147 year old Yamaha workhorse , which still performs fine , to a new Yamaha Aventage RX A880 . Wish me luck man ! Great vid , and keep on checking those backsides !
Good luck Jerry! And yes, ALWAYS look at those backsides!!
Thanks for your time and dedication to make this video. I was hoping you were going to touch more on the Marantz. I'm looking to put together my first home theater setup. I currently have my eyes on the klipsch reference premiere RP-8060FA 7.2.4 Atmos Home Theater sytem and looking to power it with the Marantz sr7013. I plan on using it in different rooms as well. Voice assistance isn't important. Tune In Radio is the only streaming radio service I use. TV is done from a Firestick. This info should help
Thanks Nick! Just trying to show people what I look for and how I think it’ll work when I read specs. Let me know how you like your system when you set it up!
Me personally, for my receiver wifi, atmos and DTS X were requirments
My Sony DVP SR510H and Sony STRDH 130 are still going strong with my Optimus STS 100's and Optimus Pro SW 12. Now playing in my cd player the album Don't Be Cruel by Bobby Brown.
I haven't heard the word "ohms" in awhile lol. I remember having double 18" subwoofers with a qsc 4050 amplifier and a pre amp in the house, Yes... In a damn house!, one day I said fuck it and turned everything to max. House was vibrating! Neighbors were mad enough to kill me and i was evicted within a few days for the noise. Landlord said I blew out the fixtures and everything, those were the crazy days.
Lol!! What a way to go though...
I think different. The first thing I think about is speakers and how many watts or amps each one push and how many speakers. Then I pick the receiver based around that. But great vid
Yeah, I get it. Many ways to skin a car or something...
The Sony STR-DN1080 got Dolby Vision support via firmware update a few months back.
Yeah, along with HLG. I'll be testing all that in my review. Woo bad these websites aren't update!
What is your opinion on the Rockville products? Preferably the Rockville SINGMIX 5. To be used in a bowling alley with passive PA Speakers. To play music and use the microphone inputs.
His speech pattern is like a jazz drummer doing an impromptu solo.
Hah! Sorry, I was jump cutting like crazy back then. I'm much better now.
This is a great video but one thing I find especially challenging is the notion of an AVR receiving updates at a later date. Is this ever something you can plan for? I understand hardware is hardware but could this video let us know, or could you share your opinion of what companies tend to add new technology software to to hardware already owned? Are their companies that seem to be more supportive of updates or less? That would be great!
I have a nad T785 that can not only be upgraded through the Internet, but is built in peices much like an old tower computer so newer hardware can be installed.
This is a three year old video but im looking for something specific, my set up will have 5 speakers and one sub, but I'd like the ability to use digital out instead of 5 speakers and sub, and same with aux at the flip of a switch or push of a button
I have HD TV with 2 HDMI and 1 ARC (no optical cable connection) and with HD set up box with hdmi and optical connection. Now recently I brought a av receiver with 1 arc hdmi and 4 hdmi connection with optical connection. I don't know how to connect. Please help me
I need a multi a 3 zone receiver for in ceiling speaker. The zones are my down stairs, up stairs master bedroom, and outside backyard porch. I’m have a hell of a time finding something.
iv just bought the Denon AVC 8500H and a full set of clipsch speakers 2 x front 2 x back 1x centre 2 x pair of surround sound speakers and 2 x 800 watt subs 8 x dolby atmos and 2 x elevation speakers and a 16 feet x 6 foot full IMAX screen with full system integration and to say the least yeh it does sound amazing but the building does shake like a junky without a fix but a lot more pleasure to sit in front of i listen to techno dad as he is the man he knows his stuff so keep them videos coming and ill send you a video of my set up and see what you think china thanks my friend from scotland to you with best wishes for the future
Shit i need to see that. Post it up
I wish you did this video 1 month ago it cause me to loose out on a sale cause I bought the denon 2400 but I could not hook up an amplifier so I went with the 4400 . Great video
I’m skeptical about dac s being an important factor, when there are receivers coming out wi
.Question. I am looking at the Denon X3500H and the Marantz SR5013. They are both similar in features and price. I understand they are both owned by the same company. My questions are 1- What is any significant differences between the two fidelity wise? 2- Any significant diff in features? 3- Overall quality? 4- Which would you buy over the other and why?
I was thinking maybe it would be good to do a segment on similar units made by different manufacturers?
Thanks in advance. I do have other questions if you dont mind, but will ask in another post.
i got a denon avr-x1200w for 150$ and 7 speaker system for 140$ and rock dolby atmos and those speakers are not the cheap kind a Polish brand TAGA Harmony Tav-406 v2 they sound great for the price for atmos i got surround speakers tav-506 v2 not dedicated but it works
Plz can you make a video or can you tell me the difference between Active subwoofer & Passive subwoofer..
Hi! That's easy. Active means it has a built-in amplifier and passive means you need to power it with an external amplifier.
Just to correct Techo Dad, the Sony STRDN1080 DOES support Dobly Vision. He just assumed that if it didn't support HDR10+ then it wouldn't support DV, it does
No, at release the 1080 did not support DV, and even when I had it in for review it did not. It does now.
Hey ! Thank You for the info on Selecting The Right A/V Reciever. I have a Much Better Understanding on how Recievers work. Thank You.
The network switch on the Sony is actually a really good idea. I could use that right now but too bad it's a Sony.
I cheaped out and bought the Denon AVR x1300. Atmos for the Xbox! Don't have any speakers yet but we'll get there.
Hello Sir,
How are you,
It was great video and can you make a video about Onkyo HT S3800 home theater system, because I already completed my home theater and I am using my old Samsung 5.1 system and I want to upgrade to avr 5.1. So I did found the my budget Onkyo 5.1 system package, if you make a video the whole settings and setup calibration video of it , definitely it will help lots of people.
Thanks.
Still running my Integra DTR 50.3 and couldn't be happier after all these years.🍺
@Techno Dad!!! what do you think of the Pioneer Elite SC LX901 receiver?
Please help to select between Denon X 1600 H and Marantz NR 1609. Preference to audio quality and clarity.
Hey there....
I've watched a hamdful of your videos over the last few evenings... and I'm hoping mayne you can help me.
I have an older Sony home theater reciever, but it doesn't seem.to be making the surround sound actually work on all of our devices. The speakers I have are an old Bose Acoustimass 10 system that my father had bought years ago, and they actually still sound really good in my 12x20ft living room.
I have a Visio TV, not a smart TV or 4K , and our A/V devices are hooked into that and from there to the stereo, which I suspect is the problem.
I am thinking that for the surround soumd to truly work right, I meed to run the HDMI from all the devices into a new AVR and then out from there to the TV.
We have a Wii U, a PS3 and PS4 , a DirecTV DVR reciever....and I also have a Pioneer 100+1 disc CD player hooked up just via RCA cables.
I sometimes use my computer hooked into one of the HDMI inputs of the TV, and I have a mixer hooked into the stereo system through RCA cables as well, this is used for mixing music and sometimes playing and sampling vinyls...
So, after watching a handful of your videos, and some others, I am almost as confused as when I started. I am still going to see if there is some way to make surround work for the DVR, PS3(mostly a dvd/blu-ray player these days), and PS4, with the current reciever/amp....but I fear I need to get something more modern.
I'm a single father raising 3 kids, so money is tight, but we would like to enjoy our TV, movie, and game time together to the fullest.
After looking at some of the AVR out there now, I am thinking something like the Denon in the link below should serve us well for quite a while....
Any help would be most appreciated.

How to hook up a Denon older version without HDMI
How to know as to what should be the right speaker size for an amp, as in small, medium or large or is it all based on sensitivity? Is there a video that you made i can refer to or quick couple of lines for me to understand? or vice versa .. I have lets say big speakers with 90db sensitivity and 100w rms - does it mean that most of the amps in the market are safe to plug? First part of the question is more important .. second part appears to be bit generic ..
Hi! Yes, I made a video about speaker sensitivity a while back (czcams.com/video/53KBKYeJdPs/video.html) your speakers with a 90db sensitivity will work with most budget to mid level AVRs on the market. When you put more power into them, they WILL love you for it!
I'm so lost on receivers. I want to kinda future proof myself. I'd like to get receiver that I can connect a power amplifier in the future. Can the cheaper denon receivers do that I see pre outs but it only says left and right
@16:50 "and that's at 6ohms, if you have an 8 ohm or a 4 ohm speaker, you have to figure that out" This is literally the reason I came to this video, for you to help me with this. It's a 50 minute video and there was no time to explain I guess.
Sorry, here you go, this is what you need to know - czcams.com/video/ooLF0ZIYy7A/video.html
My other question. I have a Sony Bravia Smart TV with access to apps and plenty has of inputs, HDMI etc.. Presently I have my Fious Cable box, XBox, DVD and a 4k Apple TV plugged into my TV via HDMI's. Then 1 TV digital out plugged into an older Harmon Kardon AVR 45. I do like this set up because I can control all the paraphernalia via the TV inputs and simply turn on the AVR when needed.
i am in the market for a new AVR with HDMI's like the DEnon x350H.
I see that the suggested methods for connections is all paraphernalia going into the AVR and then 1 HDMI OUT to the TV IN.. Thereby controlling apps and paraphernalia thru my AVR. My question is...Is there an advantage to doing it this way over the way I presently have it.
Helo Techno Dad, good to get so much details so that we can setup our homes. QQ - are there A/V receivers which have WiFi to enable attaching WiFi speakers to avoid managing cables. Also I have a Sony CT370 soundbar. Is there a way I can use that as the front speaker system and add a receiver for the rear and subwoofer? Is it possible to route Audio from 1 source to 2 different systems?
Hi! First, you can't use a soundbar as any kind of speakers as the soundbar will process the sound. You would have to get an AVR and then regular speakers for the setup.
I an old Onkyo entertainment system (onkyo-hts7300) I want to purchase the Onkyo TX-RZ630 because just bought sony xbr75-x900f and I want to use it with my old entertainment system Speakers. Just want your oppinioun do you think this is a good fit? Do you think this would produce good power for speakers or to much power? I also have an open floor plan room my living room is a good size. Please help
Lee McMyers no it won’t be too much power it’s a good amp to invest in, the onkyo RZ line means it is built to a higher quality then there other receivers, I have the onkyo tx-rz720 I purchased it about a year ago and have been satisfied with it’s performance and power. At this point you might as well get the rz820 it has more power. Speakers like to be powered by higher power amps especially in a larger room surround setup. The extra headroom will make your speakers sound better then before and maybe make you consider upgrading them too next time a deal comes around, as your amp is a bit dated. Speaker technology and design is getting better and better. Pick up some elac debut 2.0’s or klipsch with the new affordable line of speakers they just released.
hooking up the old Wii to the AVR with composite. I get audio but no video. is that because the analogue cant pass through the AVR via the HDMI? I thought the AVR would do the conversion and allow it to pass through
5am and liking your info.
AVRs seem a lot cheaper in U.S. than buying local. Is it worthwhile using a 240v to 120v converter?
I have been using a Yamaha Dsp A1 with a 7.2 setup for past some years but now wish to have a a newer av receiver with Dolby atmos and Dtsx using the same speakers which are compatible with dsp A1 and need to know hominy ceiling speakers do I need to add to get the atmosphere and dtsx effect .Would like to have all the other features as mirror cast etc .Kindly suggest and receiver similar to dsp A1 so that I need not change the current speaker setup but just add the atmos ceiling speakers
Hey TD, I stumbled across your channel today and love it. Could you please do a video like the A/V receiver choice, but for Amplifiers and possibly for speakers. Very informative and useful information. Thanks
Hi! Shopping for speakers and amps is pretty hard. Do you have a speaker brand you like? Have you heard any speakers in person lately?
Techno Dad I’ve been looking at Emotiva, parasound, outlaw. Just to name a few amps. I haven’t found any reviews on McIntosh. I know I know, expensive. But a guys gotta dream sometimes. As far as speakers, SVS, Polk perhaps, Klipsch and I’m not sure what is out there much beyond that. But I really enjoyed how thoroughly you presented everything when shopping for a receiver. Also I have not really seen much in the way of speaker placement and alternative workarounds when ideal locations can’t be used. What then? Also the Denon AVR-X8500H has 15 terminals so you can hookup everything needed for Atmos, DTS X, and Auro 3D. But what is different with speaker placement there aside from the eye of god center speaker what is different with speaker location from one format to the other? Another words why 15 instead of 14? I’m not understanding that. But I am thoroughly enjoying catching up on all of your content I’ve been missing all these years. Rock on 🤘 my friend. I’ll keep watching.
Jay
Thanks jay! Shoot me an email if you have detailed questions, as it's easier to attach diagrams and such.
What does a sony N9000ES 5 channel amplifier compare to the outlaw 600 dollar unit i love it it sounds super clean but i have not heard anything to compare it to that i liked ,,,and i also run eosone rsf1000 speaks wit a pair of infinity IL60 and a infinity 36c center and a miller kreisel MK90 dual 12s push pull desighn sub.. anad a onkyo TXNR 5009 reciever
Hi
I just bought the below set of speakers and receiver, my receiver is only 100Watt. Should i buy a new receiver or should i get an amplifier. Please provide suggestions on wringing and placement of the speakers as well please.

Real easy one for you, will a pair of 6ohm speakers screw up my 5.1 receiver sucking too much power. My receiver is pretty good, it's a Denon. My other three speakers are 8ohm. I do plan to get an amp in time. I just don't want to suck too much power and screw up what I have using 2 6ohm. Thanks.
Hi! It should be okay. Which Denon do you have?
Hello Techno Dad, I'm planing to built my own Home Cinema, and I was thinking to get the Klipsch R26-F 5.1 Package adding another Subwoofer from the same range together with 2 Klipsch Atmos Speakers, which results in a 5.2.2 Home Cinema. My question now is if the Denon AVRX-1400 is enough to power all these speakers?
Please help me.
I have a speakers (sony hcd-gn1000 amp is fault)
It's have 6ohms speaker
170w x 2
70w x 3
Subwoofer 210w x 1(8 ohms)
Total 8400 pmpo
Total 760w rms
Please help me- which which av recover is suitable for this speakers.
I am confused about rms watts pmpo.
This is 1year problem for me so please help me.
Hi Channa, hopefully you can answer a quick question for me. I'm about to purchase the Denon X1600H based on your recommendation. This particular receiver is a 7.1 with zone 2 rca pre outs. If I wanted to hook up an external amp to drive front speakers, would I be able to do that with this receiver? I want to run a 5.1.2 system. Would I even need an external amp? Thanks a bunch!
So u can connect a hdmi wire from your direct tv box to your avr? How does that work?
Hi Channa D. I am looking for AV that can support my Yamaha NS-C444, NS 555 and NS 333 what would you recommend. i need at least 100W per channel. I do have 2 height speakers as well. Thanks
Thanks for video, I found it enlightening. I’m starting from scratch building my system with the receiver first and then in wall speakers all the way (except for sub) with fronts, center, rear and above. I still don’t know which way to go? Costco has the Yamaha TSR-7850 for $400 and I found the Denon XVR-4400h for $900. Big difference, any thoughts? In your opinion, what’s the best bang for the buck if under 1k for any brand?
Hi! I would go with the 4400h since it can process 9 channels for a 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 Atmos setup. The Yamaha in question can process 7 channels so it can run a 5.2.2 or 7.2 setup. The Denon will also process 11 channels and you can run a full 7.2.4 Atmos setup with an external power amp if you wanted. Also, you'll get a better room correction software with the X4400H.
Thank you, I appreciate that. Great channel!
Sir please tell that if speakers wattage is 100 -120w then what should be the avrs wattage per channel if we use high power suppose 150 or more then can it damage the speaker
Any advice on buying used 4k receivers @technodad? There are receivers less than 2 years old that support 4k but not BT2020, Dolby vision etc, do they play well with newer 4k TVs? Thanks
what setup would you recommend for garage setup? looking for SQ... 5.1 system? Do you prefer Denon/Marantz/Onkyo receiver?
What receiver can be hooked up to my Emotiva 5 ch power amp. How about the Yamaha RX A 2070 is that overkill? You break it down well great video.
Techno dad I am an old school strictly 2.1 stereo setup guy but now i am considering upgrading to 5.1 or 5.2 I have chosen to go with the klipsch RP-160 home theater system minus the sub-woofer which I will substitute for svs pb-1000 I wish my budget could stretch to the pb-2000. What AV receivers do you recommend under $600 that are warmer sounding considering my speakers would all be 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms with very high sensitivity as you already know. My music taste is bass intense hip-hop, reggae, salsa and I listen to most of it on spotify. One more thing, would 2 woofers be overkill for my non-floor standing mains the RP-160M ?
Yes if you're room smaller than 20' x 12'
Marantz sr 5011 or 5012 sound great with klipsch and can be purchased in that price range. I have the klipsch rp-280f theater package with two SW 112 subs and my Marantz sr 7012 receiver makes these speaker sound fabulous both music and movies. Marantz processing is warmer and less harsh than other ave receivers I’ve owned.
Evans I'm in the same situation with the Klipsch set up. Currently just have the rp160m with future plans to add the same. What did you end up going with and are you satisfied with the power after hooking up your center and surrounds. Same price range for me as well. Looking at accessories4less
how do you connect a firestick to a receiver and make it sound better? sorry, new tot his. thank you.
Don, just connect the Firestick to an unused HDMI input on your AVR.
I think I made a mistake. I just bought 2 Polk audio T-50, 150 watt 6 ohm speakers and a T-30 center channel which is 6 ohms 200 max watt speakers. The problem is my 2 surrounds and 2 rears and 2 height are 8 ohm. Will i harm my Denon AVR 4520CI receiver with that configuration? I saw price and didn't look at the impedance of the speakers.
Hi! You should be fine with mixed ohm load on your Denon. If you were to run 2 ohm speakers, then you would have some problems.
Hey guys, i don't see any reference to 3D compatibility. Are these units all 3D compatible? I have a 3D DVD player and an Optoma DLP link 3D projector that i use. If i buy one of these AVRs doni have worry about anything? Or just buying one with HDR 4k compatible devices will automatically support 3d signal from DVD player and out to the projector?
Hi, What would you recommend between a Denon AVR X2500H and Sony STR 1080DN. My preference is clean resolution of sound at low sounds.
😎👍Nice AV break down video! I was curious about the pioneer elite vsx-lx503... it's a 2018 model that's coming in at a $500-$600 price point! My 2 concerns are I don't see DAC or THX listed? Do you have a few strong recommendation for a older 9.2 Atmos receiver that is good enough for immersive movies and games? Thanks TD! Keep doing what you do! ✌
What about used equipment? That could potentially substantially cut down on the cost of all of this.
I have a LG 77 inch C9 Oled tv with the SN 11 RG Soundbar, Sun and back speakers, will be attaching the PlayStation and X box and Direct Tv what Receiver and any other add on’s would you recommend ?
Have you heard if older Denon receivers 2017 ( 6300H) will be upgradable to imax enhanced?
I just purchased an Pioneer Elite SC-LX502 AV receiver, I would like to know you opinion on it. I got a amazing open box deal from my local Best Buy on it for 409$ (retails at 999$)
I don't think he answers many questions.
I know they're made by the same company that makes onkyo. and it looks like it uses a class D amp design. which is very efficient and delivers a lot of power.
Very interesting your videos, I have a question that no one can answer me, I have a yamaha htr3068 5.1 and I want to connect a yamaha eq-70 step equalizer to it, do you know how I will do that? you can help
Hi, I have a new Sony X900H TV that only has HDMI and I have an AV receiver (JVC rx-5032 - 5.1ch) that does not have HDMI. How can I connect them so I can still use Dolby Digital and DTS? I was thinking and also read somewhere that using the digital coaxial cable connection on the receiver would give me the best sound (over rca or digital optical). Would this give me the results I want? What cord or converter do I need and where do I get it? I am another dad that just wants movie night to be something we enjoy. It's difficult enough to pick out a movie for mom, dad, 7 & 15 yr old girls, and 13 yr old boy. So good sound on a budget would be helpful. I like and subscribe to your channel. I am not up on this stuff and feel caught in changing technology web. Thanks for the help!

I just bought the
Yamaha RX-V683BL 7.2-Channel receiver as my first avr receiver and connecting to my tcl 6 series tv for Dolby atmos is this a good pick for a beginner?
I still have the Sony 1030 av receiver it was good in its day but I’m thinking of upgrading to the Denon AVR 2600 or the SONY 1080.
What did you get?
For 10 speakers which is best budget
In 6 month a new AVR is out. Better than the previous one. Same as I phones. It is all about making MONEY! As long as we convince the consumer to buy new, we make money! The human ear has not changed. The recycled electronics are miniature mountains. They do not care about the enviroment.
Sir can we connect denon av receiver to the Philips spa 5250b multimedia speakers
could you do a recommendation for a receiver + speaker combo?
5or7.1
They aren't the same ... 192kHZ Burr-Brown & THD @ 0.06% makes the difference in these - those are specs I look for in comparing also
Techno Dad, I am new to this AVR and Speaker selection. I have JBL Studio 280 (20 - 200 W 89 dB 8 Ohms) in my view for speakers. Was finalising Yamaha RX-V485 to go with this speakers. This AVR has 80 W (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven) output which might be low for the speaker I've selected? Can you help? What is Dynamic Power / Ch (Front L/R, 8/6/4/2 ohms) which is 110 W?
The anthem 1120, the big denon and especially the marantz 8012, is in a whole different sound quality level than the rest. Especially the marantz, is made in japan, got copper chasi, huge inclosed toroidal transformer. Then way I see it, I will go for this one, but I also wait for cambridge to give an atmos dtsx model. Audioholics got the marantz for sound quality review (they did unboxing and measurements), and I really can't wait what they thought of this particular model. Cambridge audio and nad, are the only ones that give you watts in all channels driven. Don't know about anthem, but is high end brand prolly them too.
I agree those are the 3 receivers I'm looking at
Clearly you have not tried Arcam
Sir do I really need a Blu-ray player for watching Blu-ray movies?? If yes then what would be for hi quality songs file, like flac file.?? Plz reply
So a 9 channel amp like the denon x4400h can actually process 11 channels with an amp?
It can process 11 channels, it only powers 9.
@@TechnoDad Hi am new to the home theater scene. Could you elaborate on what the difference is between processing and powering on a receiver? Thank you.
@@MichaelGarcia-cs9wt that means the receiver amplifier cannot power the extra 2 speakers. so you should take the line out and use an external stereo amp to power the other 2 speakers
Can you make (or do you have) a video showing how to connect a person's PC audio to their Denon AVR?
I have not. There maybe too many options...
Analog audio (via headphone jack); hdmi, etc
What would be a good receiver that has atmos in 7 chanel's that is around 1000 dollars dont need all the streaming services to go with my q9fn tv and martin logan motion 40s just ordered today
Hi I am planning to buy a budget Denon avrx 550 BT, I want your first impressions on it and does it support Dolby vision because on the website it says it supports, but have you personally seen it, please give your inputs
maybe explaining what is an AV receiver would have helped
Yeah, made that video already. Here it is - czcams.com/video/ja-sAOF6K60/video.html
Can i play 4k movies by USB in AV Receiver
I got a 7.1 receiver and i wanna add 2 atmos speaker to it, can it happen with an external amp or just buy a 9.2 channel receiver
trying to get to grips with the amp. i want to conectmy devices ps4, xbox s tv and pc and fire stick to a amp but want to have them all exept the tv run to my projector. am i right in thinking passthrough on amp alows me to send all my devices like pc xbox and ps4 throught to my projecter via the amp? If so can i output video and sound thropugh 2 groups if the amp has 2 outputs. im thinking arc output for tv so i can use tv without projector and have the sound translate through the amp as my audio sourse. does what i said make sence?
Hi, Love the videos. I have learned a lot. The only thing I understand is that the Ohms match. LOL.
I would appreciate if you could provide some insight please.
I wanted to know if the Yamaha TSR-700, 7.1 AV Receiver will PROPERLY power/drive my speakers.
The Yamaha TSR-700 has the following Stats:
Rated Output Power (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven) 100 W (8 ohms, 0.06% THD)
The other Receiver I was looking at is the Denon AVR-S750H 7.2-Channel 4K AV Receiver
Number of Power Amps 7
Power Output (8 ohm, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, 0.08% 2ch Drive) 75 W
Power Output (6 ohm, 1 kHz, 0.7% 2ch Drive) 110 W
Power Output (6 ohm, 1 kHz, 10% 1ch Drive) 165 W
The following speaker set are ALL Yamo Brand.
S 809 Tower Speaker: 150 Watts @ 8 Ohms.
Sensitivity 90dB (2.83V @ 1m)
Power Handling 120W / 240W
Frequency Response 37Hz - 26kHz (+/- 3dB)
I also have the Yamo S 801 Rear Surround: 75 - 100 Watts @ 8 Ohms. AND the
S 83: Center Speaker 100 - 125 Watts @ 8 Ohms.
Basically, if the speakers are 8 ohms and the AVR has an 8 ohm rating, you're good to go. You just don't want to connect a 4 ohm speaker to an 8 ohm AVR. Here's a video - czcams.com/video/ooLF0ZIYy7A/video.html
Please, can i power the klipsch rp 600m speakers with the denon s950h?
If not which denon should i consider?
