- Here at BeatGrade we decided to do our own Top Ten series of great producers. This feature is Rockwilder. He is one of the pioneers in not using samples and making hits. A long term friend of Def Jam rapper Redman, Rockwilder got his start producing for East Coast hip hop artists in the mid-1990s. In 1999 Rockwilder produced Method Man & Redman's hit single "Da Rockwilder". He has produced at least one track on every Redman album since 1994's Dare Iz a Darkside.

I cannot believe Redman did not like “Da Rockwilder” beat. That’s the reason why the song is short. We, the fans, demand a do-over!
Never heard that story! Where’d you get your info?
@Sha Boogie if u aint already find out, meth said it on math’s show
Sha Boogie sorry I missed this comment. Saw it on Spotify a few years ago. They used to give background behind tracks and lyrics. Went to Google from there
My favorite Rottweiler beat of all time. Crazy he didn’t like it.
"Like My Style" is such an underrated track/beat, still unique in 2022
Cold beat
50 was a monster on that
Meh sounds like a Dj Clue beat not impressed at all
@@hoodpimp1519 he was out way before clue
@@kevincoates5066 Did I say he copied Clue ? I said that beat aint all that .That beat is from GRODT which came out in 2003 , these type of Clue beats were all over Fabolous’s first album that came out in 2001 ….
Didn't know he produced I'll bee Dat. That was the first Redman joint I saw on TV as a kid. That video was wild!
Heen Shit! 😋👍🏾
My Squad stay on point like dunna dun dun da dun, its da Joint...🔥🔥🔥
Nice to see Rockwilder getting his flowers.
Rockwilder is one of the greatest producers in hip hop. He's one of my favorite producers. Imo "Da Rockwilder" is one of the hardest beats ever. Wish it was longer than 2 min.
it really is! and alot of people tried, (u know EVERY dope beat got jumped on back then!) but nobody rapped to it like red and meth back then on that instrumental! Folks wasnt even playing with that beat! #OnSquad ( i role dolo from state to state!! )
One of my top 10!Some idiot said he is average in production lol! That individual made that wack ass comment on math hoffa s timeline. He had Rockwilder on deck it was an epic interview yo!🙏🏼✌🏼💯you should peep it out if u haven’t already fam.
@@jasongonzalez2856 Young listeners can't connect to an era of music they're not from.
@@ALexander-ue3kj True that fam!I guess we are super lucky to have lived in that era!
Scott storch is the best
"Da Joint" from EPMD was co-produced w/ Eric Sermon.
That beat was so ill
@@andrewilliams3614 is
I didn't know Rock produced that EPMD joint, Lyricist Lounge, and Jay-Z too?! I slept on those albums when they came out.
lyricist lounge Mos Def's "Oh No" is one timeless banger
I always thought it was just E. But Wilder was the orginal
This cat is legendary his beats always get play in my playlist always!I give him his flowers and may he continue making bangers!!!
He got bangers and his production isnt so noticeable. Hes talented
One of the best Producers ever.
This list is STRONG 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Either Rockwilder is one best producers ever or the most underrated. He basically curated the sound for the late 90s/early 00s. You came up might be the best on this list
Yes! #1 is also my fave Rockwilder beat. Classic verses, classic Nate hook....and of course classic beat
better than the Red and Meth beat??? thats a hard call my G! but i respect ur opinion!
ROCKWILDER!!😤😤😤😤✅
I'm surprised "Imagine That" for LL Cool J didn't make the list. That was one of the greatest beats I've ever heard from Roc.
You can only pick 10. And I wonder if the list is derived from if he can get the instrumental...Great concept, and he mixes them tremendously.
That Pun joint with the horns has always been sick af 💋mwah
I think it is tough to select top 5 producers in Hip Hop. There are so many good producers.
We came up has such a good feel to it. Takes me back to my middle/high school years too. Pun was dope
He did Front and back for Xzibit
It's crazy how underrated RW is .....he was lighting up clubs worldwide with bangers in early mid 00s.
Didn't he produce Dirty for Christina Aguilara?
Nah I think that was DJ Premier or maybe that’s another song
@@warprimeminister nah premier did still dirty and a bunch of stuff on back to basics. Rockwilder did let's get dirty for redman and then dirty for Christina Aguilara.
Preemo did that and most of the actual album
@@johncooney93 that's incorrect. You're confusing titles. Rockwilder definitely did the beat for Dirrty.
@@johncooney93 premo did "still dirty" but rockwilder did the beat for Dirrty
Such a beautiful sound! I’m so inspired and a fan!! And glad I know that you produced these!

Oh hell yes, was waiting on when you'd get to Rockwilder. For some reason his name never gets mentioned as one the super producers from the late 90s/early 2000s he super underrated he should be up there with Timbaland, Swiss Beatz, The Neptunes, Just Blaze, Kanye West, Scott Storch and Dr. Dre who dominated that era too 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Dope how filters the horns for the verse. They're still there but you barely hear them.

It was sampled later by Dr. Dre and became "The Next Episode"
Idk who I thought did “Do It Again” but I was not thinking him. Wow!
🔥🔥🔥 Another GREAT producer that got chewed up and spit out. The industry is a mfcka.
you gotta be ready for it! at some point u gotta put responsibility on THE MAN! He couldve left and been a ghost producer for anybody in the game! and he came back to the game, which shows hes INSANE or it wasnt the game, it was THE MAN!
His run was long enough and impactful enough for all of us to know how dope he is
Wait what else do they expect
You seen his Math Hoffa podcast interview? A good watch.
No, he retired.
Kinda Shocked Xzibit's "Front 2 Back" Ain't Up Here...
He is often forgotten
Um, love the list. But should of been credited for reservoir dogs.. That was the best beat ever to me that he did.
Rockwilder is the best mixer.
Front 2 back🤷🏽
Somehow someway hit different
Missing: "Stop, Chill" -- Beanie Sigel and "Case Closed" -- Redman feat. XBreed

6/9 are identical... He's still a monster behind the boards though.
