- In 2019 I watched a CZcams video about the Timberline Trail. I knew then that I had to walk it. In 2022 I made that dream a reality! Follow along as my new friend Jesse and I backpack this iconic 41 mile around Oregon’s Mt. Hood.

I did this in 2022 also, but starting at Cloud Cap and going counter clockwise. 1st crossing was Elliot creek, mind you, counterclockwise + the creek crossing itself. I’m 60 and it was steep to get back up to the trail. I spent 4 nights going around. Part of that was the cutoff trail, when going counterclockwise, it was not clear about the diversion to the PCT at that time in my maps or my Garmin. Big wrong way for many miles. Incredible hike, I’d so it again. When I got to the log crossing at mud creek it was dark and I literally set up camp at the creek. Yes, that is a steep long slog, I was going opposite.
I definitely want to hike the trail again. It was a ton of fun.
I also hiked the Timberline Trail in September of 2022.
Thank you for sharing! I just added Timberline Trail to my list too - very cool to see how gorgeous it is!
I highly recommend the trail! Absolutely beautiful place for long walk!! I want to go back. Maybe counter clockwise next time.
Great stuff. Doing this in August and found your post very helpful.
Awesome! Glad I could help! I hope your trip goes well!!
Stunning adventure😊
It truly was. The video doesn’t do it justice. It’s a trail I’ll hike more than once.
I"ve never done a thru hike...this looks like a great one to start with. Looks do-able and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I think a lot of people take this as their first thru hike. It's long enough to have the experience, but short enough that if it's not going well you’re finished before you know it. I do wish we'd taken one more day (and night). We were on a pretty tight schedule, and I think 4 days and 3 nights would have perfect.
Just finished. Beautiful video man, your best, in my opinion. Trail looks magical, views all day!
Thank you! I’m really happy with how this one came out. The views on that trail are incredible. Video doesn’t do them justice.
Awesome adventure. I definitely want to do this one someday
You’d love it. So many waterfalls.
I missed the premiere. But I'll be watching tonight!! Already 5 mins in and I have a feeling it's going to be my fave video that you've created.
Thanks so much! The premiere went pretty well! I think I’ll do that again for some of the bigger trip videos.
@@LostAgainwithJim Ii definitely enjoy it to make certain releases feel special.
The complete contrast in landscape as you made your way around is incredible! First, tons of vegetation, then barren rock - a stunning trail; no wonder you had this on your bucket list!
Beautiful area and beautiful weather.
I believe I’d rather traverse snow and ice than swollen, fast moving water. This was definitely a trail to write home about. Thanks for sharing!
We had perfect weather! And I think the late season hike helped a lot with the river crossings. And yeah, 100% I’d rather hike on snow too!
One last thing, I laughed out loud when you talked about the trail being “entirely uphill. How did they do that?” Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
Just subscribed! What dates did you hike the trail? I did it back in September 2021, great time to hike, although the nights were chilly.
We were there Sept 23-25 2022. We only had one chilly night, the weather was pretty phenomenal the whole trip!
My intro would be, “Ok, so hiking a 43 mile trail, 7 days 6 nights.” That Raven was huge! Was this hike recent or just added recently? Looks less than fall like in Oregon. Looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing
We hiked this one Sept 23-26 this year. So just over a month ago.
@@LostAgainwithJim it was gorgeous. I’m usually in the Trinity Alps in Northern California, but I think I would definitely do this hike. Thanks for sharing!
I need to plan a trip to Trinity. Such a beautiful area.
Those stone structures you passed by; are they associated with the trail? Hiker shelters?
They are old hiker shelters! Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Any chance the video you watched originally was from AA(adventure archives robby)? He did such a good one.
It wasn’t. The one I watched was from Darwin. But I’ll watch that one now too!
@@LostAgainwithJim okay long shot haha, - this is adventure archives one- czcams.com/video/pOEbUUS4APk/video.html
@@LostAgainwithJim and I should say, Darwin rocks too! We love Darwin. Thanks for replying.
