Thank you !
I’ve seen many Comments quantifying the “minor” change in sound proofing. I purchased them anyway to reduce the dirt that accumulates in the frames of the doors, trunk and frunk. I hope it does and reduces outside noise, as advertised.
8:09 FYI I think the frunk seal is installed incorrectly in this video according to Basenor’s installation video from 6 months ago. The seal actually goes on the base of the frunk not the lifted part.
I snagged some. They arrived today. I'll install sometime this week and report back. I also bought the seal for the glass roof. Hopefully that combo will provide some sort of sound reduction. I think I need to get service, I just got my car a few weeks ago and it always sounds like a window is down somewhere
Hmm yeah that’s not right
Occasionally I hear same. Get it fixed?
My buddy just bought a Model 3 about 3 weeks ago and after he had his windows tinted he said exactly how you described it - sounds like a window is down. He scheduled a service appointment but when the tech showed up he couldn’t fix on site; rep said it was a problem with the seals. Not sure exactly yet. my buddy is dropping it off later this week.
If you haven’t done it already, would suggest recalibrating the window closure (in service menu). There’s a YT video on how to do it. It helped with my MS noise.
Guess I should update lol. 4 trips to the service center and they can't fix it. Don't use these sealers, they only screw things up further in the long run and cost me an additional trip to the center -- who could fix the issues caused by the seals but not the original issue. And very anticlimatically, oddly enough the problem went away on its own months ago from what I'm assuming was an update.
I was skeptical. i bought it and installed it this weekend. Don't listen to the haters...this works good. I'm very happy.
If the primer is acentone... wouldn't it strip the paint?
Another great video! love the content
Woohoo!
I think if your paying even 40k plus the cars need a quality update thats why they added the 2nd pane of glass to reduce road noise but they certainly need to spend a few more dollars making these cars even better. Quality control is not where it should be nor it the overall quality unfortunately, still great cars but not in comparison to other evs which dont have these issues.
I wanna see db levels before and after.
I can see how it could work tho.
Frunk hood seal is a no no for me. After did the work, the AC air blow was significantly weakened So I removed the frunk seal ASAP. For the record, I also have the Front Cover Water Retaining Strip wiper blade area under the hood, maybe it helps magnify the issue.
Interesting. Doesn’t the air come from the top part??
@@EverydayChris The top part, as said I installed a (rubber made) water stainer which blocks tree leaves etc debris gather around wiper blade from falling into the air flow vent under the center of the hood. So only two upper side corners has some air flow gaps, not enough. I turn up air flow strength, but barely feel the actual difference with the lowest setting, that's when I start oops. Guess instead of removing all the hood noise reduction seal. I can just remove all or part of the seals on both sides of hood for enough air. Not a big deal anyway.
I took delivery of a brand new model performance model y a few weeks ago, it has a super annoying rear cabin rattle noise and the Tesla dealer pretty much did nothing when I went on an appointment because they couldn't "duplicate the noise", this really sucks for a car I paid 80K for after taxes
I installed a rear trunk/cargo cover from that company and it seems to reduce some of the noise from the rear wheels.
Nice nice
What tire’s did you get? Michelin Pilot Sport EV? They are specially designed for EVs. I had trouble locating them. Eventually got Hankook EVO for my model S. Big difference in noise and smooth ride. They have foam liners. I think tires are important for road noise. Wind noise is another issue. Sound deadening can help but you need to know where the sound is coming from or do the entire car.
I got the All season 4's. LOVE THEM. Actually more quiet than tires with foam
@@EverydayChris Almost all NEW tires will be great compared to your worn out tires. But the Michelin PS all season are really good.
Any worry that the door seals will prevent proper draining of the doors?
No it still drains. I wash my car every week and I’m pretty anal about that stuff but no issues
Hi Chris. Can you let us know what your noise level is inside with the new seals after your car is fixed.
Will do!
@@EverydayChrisany updates on the road noise with the seals?
@@FSD_RPH biggest difference has been the way the doors close. It's a better seal. As far as road noise I feel it comes more from the windows. I don't hear any wind noise however.
@@EverydayChrisawesome. Thanks for the follow up. Appreciate you and the channel man!
any comments on how these work in winter climates that are commonly below freezing?
Took it to a snow storm it stayed on
I think everyone have avioded the real question, should these seals be there, please let me know.
Have they fix this issue in 2024 I’m waiting for the refresh
Do I need that in the 2023 model y ? Isn’t quieter now ? Thanks
You should be good. Just drive it first and see how you like it
Why didn't you do the front of the door as well? That's where I hear the wind whistling on the highway.
Conclusion: not huge difference. Door closes harder, and water leaks.
But if you are blocking the drain holes that might cause a problem if you live in a place where rain is common. I know you are not actually blocking the holes, but you are sealing the weather IN.
It still drains no problem! I tried by running water over the window
On a side note does it keep in the inner door cleaner?
Yes! Just realized it. Keeps the dirt on the side of the seal
I did this to my car and also added underneath sound deadening and hood and truck deadening. I also added double pane glass on my Tesla model 3. I’m considering in removing some off as it become too quite
Could you please share on what other sound-deadening materials you used other than this? Also, please share on what you mean by underneath and under hood and Trunk. - Thank You
How did you go about getting double pane on the rear?
How many feet is the total length of the door seals?
Great question lol
Hey Chris. Looks like Tesla fixed your battery cell. Is everything all good?
Not yet! That’s just an old video. Will update you guys soon! I got a loaner and the car is in the shop! Check out the ig for quick updates
Waste of money folks. Don’t do it. Remember that this guy gets a cut of the stuff he helps sell, so he’s always going to lean towards it being a positive over negative, even if he thinks otherwise. I don’t blame the guy, I’d probably do the same. Just looking out for the rest of us.
So what brand would you get??
This didn’t reduce any noise at all.
It will at least keep inside of the bottom of doors clean. And it’s worth $50.
You are just too cheap lol
@@Samwilson28you don’t have to take physics or have a brain to know this will reduce some noise , it has to
But whether it makes a
Big difference can be discussed
@@shdmd2118 I’m not cheap. I’m just not an idiot. Feel free to buy it tho.
Is Model 3/Y that loud? how about S/X?
It’s not that loud tbh. X is quieter for sure though
“Make It Sound Proof” “It doesn’t make a huge difference” thanks 🙄
Sounder proof
The only reason I would get it is to get rid of all the dirts that comes inside doors till it hit the oem seals.
So there is a debate whether Tesla's are premium or not. Just the cars themselves. I would say premium cars should have these 2nd insulation line as well. + better insulation overall the car. China factory made an improvement, and Berlin/Austin may go further, but Freemont versions may not have enough insulation for the "premium" category.
I don’t think they are premium if you compare it to other brands like lucid air. We pay for a good charging network I guess haha
@@EverydayChris what the sad thing is (at least my opinion) tesla is opening up the charging network for other non-tesla EVs, what it translates to me is it will be crowded at tesla charging stations and we pay for the “premium” to Tesla charging network and others reap the result.
That’s gonna suck big time
If the seal covers up the drain holes, where does the water drain to?
Drain hole isn’t covered!
@@EverydayChris but… the drain hole is between both seals. Where does the water go if it’s between both seals? Is what i believe J V meant
This is my worry as well. People don’t realize how much water enters a door and is drained out the bottom.
@@wittech6116 I almost want to cut my own drain hole in the seal.... not sure how that would effect the sound proofing, Im sure not by much
@@xLopez210x I was thinking the same thing. Honestly I can’t see it affecting the noise reduction that much. From what I have seen, these reduce in cabin noise by 2-3 decibels. Which doesn’t sound like much until you remember decibels is measured exponentially not linearly. And for how much these seals cost, cutting an opening for the drains just to find out you shouldn’t have isn’t the end of the world.
What was the total cost for your 4 tires?
Not cheap! 1400!
@@EverydayChris wow. It is crazy.
Did it change performance?
So 9 months later, how has the seal held up, Chris?
It’s all still there, used to it now haha
With the seal on the front trunk, does it require more force to close it?
No same!
Couldn’t we just close the door instead of pushing in the seal manually?
You could! Just some extra effort
what is the result?
Easy to do and works!
@@EverydayChris I’m wondering how much better than before, noice inside the car?
My 22MYLR is really quiet on the highway. Just as quiet as my 2018 GMC Yukon Denali.
Rust?
None!
You installed the door seals the wrong way around lol. The flat part goes up and the D goes along the bottom
LOL would have been nice if someone TOLD ME. still worked though hah
Actually, excuse me. They could be the right way around.. Apparently they changed the design somewhere last year @@EverydayChris
8 decibel difference. Tires is the real issue. Get good tires
The seal also keeps the hinges clean
Too much DIY for Tesla owners🤣
Junk, don’t waste your money on that, it will come loose in a week if you live in a hot place like Arizona or Las Vegas, Geebs was warned and he already removed his.
This has been done by other CZcamsr and they all removed them.
Make sure to make a review about how they didn’t stick later.
Fred San Diego Ca.
Interesting. No isssus here been like 4 months in over 100 weather. They use 3 m mounting tape
One of mine came off they sent replacement. No issues since. I feel it makes enough difference for 50$ no big deal. They could be super aholes and sucker some people for like 200$ a set. 🤔
Waste of time and money in my opinion.
100%.
Bought the kit, you have to slam the doors shut and now water seeps in,
This is a lousy product.
It’s shameful that this guy/channel is promoting junk products only to line his pockets with viewers money 🧐
Installed it wrong? I wash my car like crazy and zero water seeps in. And I don't have to slam the door.
bro, so ??? thumbs up: buy , thumbs down: save your money
Thumbs up all the way
@@EverydayChris nothing can't stop you
How to fix tesla noise: buy another car. These are awful. This is not a fix at all.
what noise? I don't hear any noises! mine is pretty quiet!
Its not news that Teslas are infested with air and road noise. @@jimdon7377
