  • In this episode I remove the exhaust manifold and motor mounts on a 4.3L Mercrusier to give us more space to install the freeze plugs which poped out from improper winterization. SUBSCRIBE for the rebuild!

Hey man make sure you check your manifold very often with these engines there can be a rusted spot in the riser or the manifold itself which would allow water to get into your oil.

I did mine with a small angled pry bar pushed them in fairly easy

Wow man after all that work that sucks but looks like fun times ahead I would go with a short block 350 even though the boat is little old has a little wear and tear it's paid for quick engine swap back to having fun

It is possible that your head gasket may have cracked allowing water to mix with the oil but not necessarily going into your cylinders I have came across that issue before but anyway good luck

are you saying to check the oil in my 5.0 ford before doing the freeze plug? my engine intermeitent overheating problem and an early freeze caught me w/o any anti-freeze in the cooling system. i found a freeze plug in the bilge. my plug is acessable i can feel it but can't see it .
might be the end of my boating hobby.

How did you actually install them?? Did they slide in by hand after being frozen. Did you use a socket and a a hammer?

I gave them a few hammer taps after freezing them.
