Where do you play as Maria?
Rama Loza in Shadow the Hedgehog, if you have a second player, they can control whatever character is teamed up with Shadow in a level, be that Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Eggman, etc. And since some levels take place in the past on the Arc and have Shadow running with Maria...well...you get playable Maria.

Well most of them are probably fine to be gone. Like Big and Silver added nothing, and though they are cute, Cream and Rouge are likely superfluous.
But it is a shame that Sonic Team is less ambitious. Characters like Amy, Tails, and Knuckles are established and classic characters and I think deserve to have gameplay. Even if they're previous gameplay segments in Adventure 1&2 and 06 were poor, I don't think they should be thrown out. Particularly since Sonic's gameplay of pure speed makes it hard to fill a full sized game without a massive budget.

I've always liked to call the avatar character "Buddy" or "Rook" (short for rookie) mainly because it fits really well, and it gives the avatar more character
Hey dude, great video. But let's not forget Robo-Knuckles, Tails Doll, Egg-Robo, E-10000G, E-10000R, Chao Walker, Dark Chao Walker, the 4 chao in team sonic racing, Heavy, Bomb, Shadow androids, E-102 Chaos Gamma (Technically a different character from E-102 Gamma) Mephiles actually was playable in Sonic Runners. E-10000B could be mentioned, though he was actually Metal Sonic in disguise, so he doesn't have to be. Also Longclaw was just barely added to Sonic Forces Speed Battle. So if you do an update, she would be a great addition.

Uhhhh no????? Have you played 06?? Mephiles is by far the scariest, most cunning, and overall most dangerous foe Sonic has ever faced. What other villain has successfully killed Sonic? What other villain was able to manipulate almost every charactor in the cast? What other villain succeeded in pretty much everything he set out to do? In my mind he is only seconded by Eggman and that's only because of how iconic and fleshed out Eggman is.
I absolutely agree with ya. Mephiles is the most badass character in the Sonic Universe.

She's (technically) a co-op character in "Shadow the Hedgehog", functioning like Tails in the classic games.
You just plug in a second controller, find a character that follows Shadow around, and you can play as them.

Bit of mixed up trivia here: Knuckles is the guardian of the MASTER emerald, not the chaos emeralds. Also, Bark was technically a guard of the chaos emeralds, but so was every other character in that game. Each was entrusted with one to protect.
When I was little I always dreamed of a Sonic Adventure 3 with all characters in the franchise playable. I even sent a letter to SEGA when I was about 8 asking them if they could make it. 😂

Yeah I agree on the note of Tails being as cool as Sonic. I just recently played Sonic Mania as Tails and dam is he a cool bad ass in that game. Sonic X they turned his mechanical genius thing up to 11. He does stuff like casually sabotage military bases, defuses a bomb and builds a giant space ship that can warp around the cosmos. Serously that blu taifun is really cool. Its huge enough to house multipple jets and to have a dramatic chase sequence. It alsoi has standart stuff like an energy shield and a security system with lasers what not. And Tails shoots and kills the girl he loves to save the galaxy. He was kinda the star in that last part of Sonic X.

And I have an OC named mark, (a bit of a phineas and ferb reference here) he used to be a normal cat until he was captured by eggman, eggman wanted to turn mark into a robot, but the roboticizer malfunctioned and mark turned into a heroic cat with cool robot armor, then he took a job at O.W.C.A.

There's an oops on Cream's debut game, it was Sonic Advance 2 rather than Sonic Adventure 2.
My original character is a dog named Tucker The Pup! He's been saving the world since 1961, and has secretly been Sonic's buddy (friend) before Tails, and his rival (the villain) is, Dr. Robotnik (Eggman) to!!! And he LOVES hot dogs, chili dogs, and chicken nuggets!

My OC: Ren, a bear. He has a split personality, one being good and light-hearted, and the other, doesn't care. He is loyal to his friends and calm.
Isn't knuckles crescent supposed to be a an aboriginal breastplate? Given that he is an echidna, therefore inspired by Australia and a sort of important figure of his clan, it makes total sense. Historically those gorget were given by British authorities to people they considered politically important among Australian natives, which is a fascinating topic in in of itself.
Food for thoughts
If Sonic was originally conceived as a Rabbit then that would be an alternate universe where Cream would be the main character and mascot of Sega, and we’d get Cream the Rabbit 1, 2, and 3, Cream CD, Cream & Knuckles, Cream 3D Blast, Cream Jam, Cream the Fighters, Cream Spinball, Cream Adventure 1 and 2, Cream Heroes, and finally, Cream the Rabbit.

Creams first appearance was in sonic advanced 2 not adventure. Her first home console appearance was sonic heroes
there are more playable characters now in sonic forces, such as super sonic, tangle, whisper, Darkspine Sonic, Excalbur Sonic, Sir Gawain, Paladin Amy, Sir Percival, Sir Lancelot, werehog, Longclaw, Infinite and Pephiles....
there are also alternative versions but these characters are different characters on their own
