- The 2017 Kawasaki Z650 is the new naked middleweight bike that replaces the ER-6n. The aggressively styled streetfighter has sugomi etched on its persona. It’s equipped with all the equipment that the Ninja 650 has, sans the fairing. We review the Z650 on the track and on the roads to find out its fun quotient.

This will eat the Benelli 600i for breakfast, due it's almost 50 kg lesser weight. Wow!
Undoubtedly the best motorcycle right now to buy in India for our roads with a reasonable price tag.
I always wanted that extra punch with a more safer alternative after using the Duke 390 for more than a year.
Kawasaki has significantly made the ER6N into a more safe, lighter, fun and more handsome Z650 is what I reckon from Sargent's perspective!

600i has USD forks and 2 cylinders extra! so i doubt that
-idriz khan- Yes but 600i's power aids more towards top-end performance and torque of 55 Nm at 10,500 rpm pm is also much much later, whereas the Z650 being almost 40-50 kgs lighter producing 66 Nm at 6500 rpm very early will easily have the better low and mid-range grunt, so the 0-100 acceleration and roll-on overtaking will be brilliant in Z650.
Also we're not taking into account the almost outdated platform and old school looks of the Benelli. That engine and mammoth weight is a recipe for reducing your fun in long-term ownership. The service is a loot and expensive. The only positives currently are the orgasmic exhaust note and 4-cylinder smoothness at higher revs. Otherwise in every other department(Handling, Braking, Less Heat, Kawasaki brand and service) including price, Z650 is the fresher and better motorcycle.

Few questions :
1. you said on off transition on throttle is a little problematic. Is it like Duke 390 or worse than that?
2. you said heat dissipation is better. Does that mean we can ride it for 15-20 mins on bermudas/shorts. One cant do this on Duke after 7 mins in traffic

How heavy is this bike? The only reason a 600i will win over this once again would be the exhaust note. Not to compare but, if you place the 600i and z650 side by side and start the engines, the average Indian would go for the 600i. Anyway, it's one's personal choice and taste. But ya, I guess people chose the 600i over er6n for the same reason.
This weighs in at 187kg. Well, the 600i gets the charm of the inline 4 motor.

Why to love the PD reviews? Well, apart from videography and editing which would put a lot of hollywood cinematography to shame. These guys take care of:
1) How does the bike ride ( not just listing out the specs )
2) Not missing out on the missing things
3) Actually riding the bike on the terrains that it can be rode on and then some.

For long I wanted to own the ER6N. this seems pretty much the perfect replacement, especially with that fresh glossy green coat!
And now you get ABS too, which was a deal breaker for a lot of buyers.

As always, excellent review. its got all that would make this bike highly desirable. Thought i must mention that i saw it lacked just one thing for a higher capacity bike, USD forks. Just made me think, what all places has kawasaki cut corners.

A shout-out to your PTR viewers is long due (was it ever done?). This video reminded me of the old Ninja 650 review (if my memory serves me right) done 5 years back! We've seen you grow from PTR where viewers complained about sound quality and the bikes not shown enough to today's PD with a crazy fan base who wait for each of your video.
I've graduated, switched a couple of jobs, grown a beard, bought a bike, rode KMs on it, increased my ex-gfs by 2 but I've been loyal to PD, been a critic at times (with those Top Gear references), disliked few presenters but it's all been wonderful, overall. For 5 long years.
I'm sure there are a bunch of us old PTR viewers who watch all your videos, like them, spread the word and see the new kids (new subscribers) enjoy what we've seen grow. A bunch who wants a quality video more than a PDArmy t shirt or a goodie.

@Powerdrift I miss those beautiful ghats.. Those corners always looked more beautiful on ghats rather than tracks.
The track is a much safer bet than the ghats. Although all our shoots are planned in a semi-controlled environment, the track is fully controlled with sand traps & an emergency vehicle just in case something goes wrong.
