- This is it. The world war that brings everything together - the Americas, Africa, Europe and Asia - and pushes our ITALY to the limit. Can we become not only competent, as so many Italies in past campaigns have failed to be, but great? Can we claim naval dominance and lead our allies to glorious victories all around the world?
This great war will have huge battles all over the world, at land and sea, and resolve the burning conflicts of this campaign one way or another. A great conclusion.
Thanks so much for watching the Venice Series, it's been a wild ride.

@@pelayla I owe you one old friend, Cheers!
Insane how, despite Danubia being given everything possible for free, they did not form Germany.
Either Italy or Germany is competent, never can it be both… Tis a law of the universe
I JUST WANTED TO SEE A DOD GERMANY😭😭
>tfw you will never see germany form in DoD multiplayer

That freeze-frame on "This rule dispute killed the campaign" was like when the movie Gallipoli ended on a still-frame of the protagonist be machinegunned. Truly only the toppest tier kinography in the Venice series.
WW1 IRL: A single navial battle because everyone was scared of losing their dreadnoughts
WW1 in the Venice Series: *Loses more than a hundred Cruisers in the first navial battle of the war*

Ethiopia player here, if anyone's wondering how the Africa war went I'll explain it a little bit here. At the start of the war, it was just me, ~10 brigades from Hungary vs Batavia. In the first session, not much happened. Me and Hungary pulled back to a more defensible line and for some time there were no battles or anything. At the end of the first session, I conducted some offensives with moderate success, most of the fighting iirc happened in the second session of the Great War. Batavia tried to attack me, but that ended in complete failure. I continued with my offensives and eventually completely collapsed and wiped most of Batavias army. I chased him to South Africa and the Amerigans actually sent a stack or two to try and save the situation. In the end they were too late and I drove them back to their transports. Then I occupied all of Batavia and started sending my troops to Europe.
The reason Batavia was beaten in Africa was because of the concentration of forces. I was able to concentrate most of my forces in one part of the front (I had a slight brigade advantage that also helped) while Batavia was more spread out and was always getting outnumbered in the offensives I was conducting. He was unable to fill the combat width in all his battles. Him spreading out his troops also allowed me to hit his isolated stacks and drop his brigade count further. If he had tried to concentrate his troops more he would've had a much better chance of holding out and awaiting aid from the Americas.
Moral of the story is to fill your combat width, and concentrate your troops in a single region if you don't have enough to cover all of your front.

This campaign ending over a rule dispute feels poetic, and thematically appropriate.
An absolute kino
Well Italy ended the game as the third ranked great power.
The Ottomans and Aragon died.
So I say Spudgun succeeded in his Italian endeavors.
For shure. Maybe because of dual monarchy failing IT was not clearly to see. Sińce spudgun at some point bassicly stoped conquering. But lets not forget his early gamę was insane. And he is still. Italy with Grece and whole modern Turkey and quite strong navy and strong army. That's for shure one of best Italy we saw.
@@pancernyhusarz2985 Not to mention he singlehandedly held Burgundy and Danubia by himself, even if it was mountains
Not just 3rd great power, also the greatest western power (only bigger powers were a united modernized China - which stomps everything 1v1, and Japan, which is honestly kinda overpowered in DoD even without owning half of China
@@winsonzhu4427 In that case, his Italy does his Roman ancestors proud.
@@Kaiserboo1871 Seems so. kinda funny that in the end the next greatest european power, #5, is the Danubians, doing their ancestors of Germania significantly less proud.
20:30 I couldn't stop laughing after he showed Russia's lines that were like 7 provinces deep, and then it cuts back to Hungarian lines which don't even cover the entire front.
spambot will definitely go down as one of the hosts of all time
Fr, he says such great things, like "every spam has its bot"
Ehh I like spambot, lawyers rule and doesn't afraid of anything
He is definitely the host of all of all time.
I loved it during the finale when he said his Iconic line: "Its Spamin' time!"
Such an Iconic line.
It's ironic that in a campaing filled with skill issues the two nations that usually perform the worst ended up being European powers (Italy and Hungary), great campaing
Danubia continuing to make deals with Burgundy after being betrayed many times despite being the strongest power in Europe and more then capable of just taking it by force is just hilarious
what's the edgy reddit term? cuckpilled?
Battle of Udvarhely:
172k chinese deaths and 17k Deaths separated between 4 nations (4k death by nation).
This is one of the greatest decisive victory I’ve ever seen
Won the battle but lost the war.
The Grand Finale at last
All hail the Spudgun and his sanity
Edit: Damn what an end to a glorious campaign shame it had to end this way but nonetheless was it enjoyable to watch.
One of your greatest series yet. Was kinda disappointed with Germany not forming, when he started to pick up speed mid series I was really hyped but he showed again and again that he was just trash.
Fr totally thought he fooled the whole Scandi alliance, getting all his territory with the goal of forming Germany, just to then turn around and attack Burgundy and Scandinavia with Spanish and Italian support, but I digress it wasnt to be :/
As annoying and rule-dispute-filled as the campaign in general and the finale were, the title encapsulates things pretty well: this is probably the strongest Italy we've seen in any series on this channel, throughout multiple points in the campaign. From early game where he was carrying the DM and had the largest army in Europe, to the global interventions that actually saw some success (like helping Incas and the Battle of Lake Chad), to the Great War where Italy was the fulcrum of the whole alliance, with a navy and army that outclassed any other country except like China and Russia (and maybe Scandi or Spain in regards to navy).
All in all, Spudgun succeeded in the campaign endeavor: to not be the funny nation. To make an Italy capable of standing on its own. To that I say he went above and beyond, to the point that he as Italy was supporting others from beginning to end.
Congrats Spud, you made an Italy that didn't suck. I can't wait to see the next campaign!
One round of applause for Kaiser Cortex please
One round of applause for Zhourao for being the definition of stubborn
A thousand rounds of Boos for China for acting like his (metaphorical) balls are inversely correlated to his population size (but I understand, I also take the easy wins where I can!)
Back pats for virtualrock for suffering for session after session :( mad respect for playing on
Big applause to Burgrundy (original) and Scandy for play so, so well
and big applause to you Spud, for this video and the saga.
Zhourao makes sense
Loved this series from beginning to end, all the skill issues, shadowfunding incidents and the left-out-of-field DDOS attack made this series the most entertaining one yet.
This finale was well worth the wait and I can’t wait for the next series and all the shenanigans that will bring for us to laugh and cringe at!
While the ending could have been better, though rules dispute leading to the end of the world is rather RP friendly, you did a great job reviving the image of The Funny Nation in this series.
Grand finale's reminder that Jaeger tried to encricle a navy
A game without constant cycle of Italian rebels and war exhaustion, what a world
Imagine vehemently holding onto a non-core region just for your entire alliance to be swamped by China and then lose said non-core region anyways
Nobody is obligated to be throwed under the bus for the sake of others. If alliance woud be Smart enough seeing he dont want to give up indochina. Spain coud offer them part of India to mąkę up for it. But they did not. So IT ended how IT ended.
@@pancernyhusarz2985 Yeah with an idiot that couldn't see the benefits of keeping China out the war losing the war for everyone else, truly it was Spains fault.
@@pancernyhusarz2985 Good for Zhourao to not end up like onion's Bohemia
@@pancernyhusarz2985 if a world changing global power demands a non-core colonial region from a minor nation in a continent-spanning alliance, which if you don’t meet said demands you will most likely lose said region anyways, wouldn’t it make sense to sacrifice your Reddit map paint in order to meet those demands? It’s a no brainer to me. You're right that it's not his obligation to fulfill that demand, but not only are you letting your entire alliance down with that decision but also China was absolutely justified in demanding land from Zhourau or the alliance in general, as they had tried to cripple the newly formed China in a previous episode.
@@epicguy6343 and after giving IT up for free. Woud get declared for more land and asked for more again and again. And if not then all people woud said he is boring for giving up. And he is just next China from the gamę that it give up all his land for Japan for free.
There is no win win situation anyway. And no right answer.
And nobody know how IT woud end if he woud just give IT up. And no matter what u said. Still nobody is obligated to be throwed under the bus for the sake of others.
If China woud cassually want India from Spain woud he just give IT up whole because its nom cored prowince he cant defend? Lets not be ridicouls. Not to mention that i still imagine IT was for him one of better land around and if beliviing player itself the only source of oil. They coud give him anything else to mąkę up for this lose. Like giving him India to convice him in giving up indochina. But Spain prefered to do nothing and got mad and Bully him into giving up. So nobody shoud be angry about how IT happend.
Imagine if Kaiser Wilhelm II ordered his troops to retreat behind French lines at Verdun and the entire European community had a screaming match that ended with the war being cancelled
Moral of the story if Italy doesn't get islands Sieged down and blockaded Italy seiges down the British island and blockades it.
Not only did spud not get italied he made scandi get italied.
This video just reminds me that some people must be stupid. The people saying Victoria has nothing to do with the military in defence of vic3, the military is one of THE CORE FOCUS of the game as this shows.
it's finally here
An entire campaign ended by massive egos and kaiserboos. Classic Vic 2 players!
The Chinese demands of Australia were pretty outrageous. From Australia's perspective there is no way he loses 10 states as part of the great war, so it doesn't make a ton of sense for him to just give it up. Sometimes it sucks to suck but I'm surprised nobody countered by promising China provinces should they win.
They offered Russias land but he wanted the oil so it fell apart.
Or why didnt spain offer some of his provinces as compensation to him for losing provinces to china. It was 100% reasonable not to give up that land for other people who arent willing to do even less themselves
@@katieee4915 yeah I mean I'm sure that if Spain had offered 5-6 provinces in India (like the Bengal lands would have for sure done the trick) Australia would have agreed- but losing 3 million pops as Australia just really isn't an option, that that point that had to be something like 35-45% of his population, it would have been suicide to agree to that deal.
Not to mention China didn't even offer to join on their side, he said he'd "consider it" and later just demanded the land or else he'd join the enemy. Australia had no assurances.
What a beautiful series. I still dont understand why players dont join great war since the campaign is going to end regardless you win or loss, so just have some fun. practice your military skills.
id usually call that a potat moment but it is also pierre so hes 100% right on him just pushing for more and more
just finished the video, glad to see a legitimate potat moment end the campaign... many such cases!
I've died from that Patrick Bateman joke at 18:40. You're such a great memer, Spud
Your upload schedule perfectly matches up with my Friday trip down to the pub. I now associate the Venice series with getting shitfaced in the snug. Really enhances the experience...
for some reason i now imagine a whole pub watching the venice series on the tv like a football game

I’ve been waiting for 7 months for this moment
Is been that long?!
Same
would you rather:
A) lose indochina but gain a massive ally
B) lose indochine and gain a massive enemy
I'd be more sympathetic towards zhourao if china was only offering to stay out of the war in exchange for Indochina, but being an ally? that's crazy
Am i Vichy France for 200?
Would you rather be a kneeling cuck who gives away all your land in diplo plays or a standing sigma male and fight for what's yours?
@@pelayla Zhourao here, he was only offering to stay out of the war (and not join) and hinted that he wanted to dec on Japan quite heavily for his other lands (aside from Spain my closest ally), which eventually threatens my Indonesian and Indian holdings (there was no reason he couldn't just demand more land later on)
If he was offering to join I would've accepted, lose that but gain Indonesian holdings/Philippines which are worse pop/RGO wise but easier to defend for a naval power
TL;DR: Don't give up some of your better lands to pretty much your biggest enemy for free (no assurance)
@@xxxpikachugamerxxx5842 ah sorry then thought he did offer to join your side, my bad
32 million deaths in 1900... clap, clap
About 1.6% of the world population at the time. This is also pretty comparable to the Taiping and Dungan rebellions.
Host killing the Campaign
this is really Mindblowing
Finally the moment we've all been waiting for. Excited for this mens, lets go
Your channel is like a small business, high consistant quality though low budget
Don’t ever dance for the corporation like the bigger fish, this is perfect
Great choice of soundtrack too
tbh I'm on Zhourao's side with this, China just going to take whatever no matter what you give them, losing that much isn't worth it when you're probably not giving anything significant to Zhourao anyways, definitely not 3m worth
completely disagree, if he hadnt given it up, china would just take it from them, which they did. they had no way of holding it, and they were just mad cuz they were in a shitty place to defend it. all they did was guarantee china joined the other side
@@artoriasjim9638 and between that and Inca they ate up a TON of warscore, not Zhourao's fault that Aryanam didn't join and make it defensible
maybe spain shouldve offered his colonies instead to china or to australia as compensation. even if australia lost the great war, what land is it going to lose and if they won it, would australia get enough colonies to make up for indochina?
Not like there was anything he could have done to stop him at least accepting the offer gave the chance that he wouldn't ask for more
If they offered him some kind of compensation in India or somewhere else the criticism would be warranted but they didnt. Instead he was the only one who would lose territory in exchange for Chinas help.
Italian pride has been achieved
Probably the single greatest victoria 2 mp series on CZcams
An epic ending for an epic series and i cant wait for more!
Thank you so much for this series. I enjoyed every single episode until the end.
Glad I was here. This series has been legendary.
An amazing journey to see come to an end, can't wait for more series!
straight up the best most understandable vicky2 series
hope you do more i really love them
First series I started and finished on your channel! Pretty emblematic for an Italian
Thanks! It is very hard to make such videos and not many people do watch them to the end. I love you.
I'd be really mad over the session ending over a stupid rule dispute, especially since the deal would have been interesting an they had no reason to take anything form you you could have ONLY gained, but the war was pretty satisfying in itself, especially you carrying by declaring on danubians and completely diverting them, and yeah even if they said they wouldn't have I think they would have
The rule dispute was just a culmination of frustrations and poor GM work. It was the last straw for people.
This was a great campaign, a great ending. I have been waiting for ages and was worth the wait. Was at the edge of my seat during the whole fight as it was back and forth
great series, keep it up. hopefully quicker releases :D
52:30 Amazing Metternich Revenge reference
Fantastic series Spud! A perfect 5/7
Gentlemen, we can safely say: Based Italy (minus the Skill issue alliances)
That PLC front looked extra ugly
Been looking forward to this episode!
Just got done rewatching Muscovy. Love the references you put in
Another amazing campaign, thank you
Its wild to me how much I look forward to these series', legit love this content and your channel Spud, big love, legit highlight of my day when and upload from you.
It’s happening guys. Everybody stay calm!
I liked this finale, but I feel it doesn't have the player-character power of the Muscovy series, the continuing story of Plantegenia Series, nor the Character-driven storylines of the PLC Series. It feels much more gameplay oriented than the other series.
I personally liked this series, but I enjoyed the meta-narrative of the Muscovy series, imagining like I was some East German Officer leading slavs to victory after victory against the Motherland's many enemies. BadFrank was a blessing on that series, and made it so much better.
What this showed is that a Venice Italy can be especially powerful if done right, which basically means that Italy + Greece + Anatolia together with Cores and accepted pops is good which is a easy sell.
What a wonderful journey, and even if it ended in a suboptimal manner I think that final retrospective as put together well enough that it still feels like it was a very fun campaign overall. At least, It was a joy to watch so thanks again for the hard work you put in making this, Mr Gun.

Shame the campaign died over BS, was a good campaign. Successful Italy is always nice to see.
the end of an amazing campaing, cant wait for the next one
damn that great war was one of the best i think youve had on your channel. its a real shame it ended how it did, but the fight your alliance put up was really fun to watch. Really cool that there were proper fronts on almost every continent and the naval battle was also interesting since you were one of the major naval powers. good stuff
thank you so much spud!!!
What a Great War, one that I think Italy proved itself to be competent. You can't naval invade Britain and call yourself incompetent after that.
This was a fantastic sires overall, and I hope and hope that you do another VIC sires soon what ever the mod what ever the country 😁🎖
Watching this later. Already know its amazing
You truly were a competent Italy, well done! I would have enjoyed a hypothetical peace -deals part of the analysis however, perhaps from both sides since a winner couldn't be figured out at the time the campaign ended
NGL. Epic war. The rule court was hilarious😂. Great end to the series 👏
Finally, a good video to watch while eating.
I'd say the series was a success. Italy was competent. Mission accomplished.

Imagine being a fencing major power waiting for an opponent's military reduction to happen, and then the MP game campaign ends because of a rule dispute case.
This has been a massive mind-breaking series that inflates horrors and sorrows when it comes to rules, disputes, incidents, and issues that makes you, loyal and brave viewers, have your hands wrench off your eyes in this travesty that was the state of this game. But Spudgun and his batch of wavering and staunch friends, allies, and enemies can both impress and depress the audience with notable displays of skill issues, glorious combats, and societal that awes and shocks us since the introductory trailer of one of the best able players ever could bring to us: A superb triumph of Venetian Italy, greater in honor and prowess than the scheming larger land empires of the Four Directions, and astoundingly incredible than it's real Savoyard comparison of our timeline.
And lastly, the battling bastards of Bogota and the Italian Brigades of the Incan Defensive Expedition stands defiantly proud upon the bloody soil of what the Germans long ago had called Little Venice... the living memory of the forlorn hope that was Venetian goodwill in the shores of Incan Venezuela.
The Great War over Panama goes on without a conclusion, but the blood shed on these sessions were brutal and glorious. And the DM died a futile, lingering death, but it's Mediterranean brothers goes on to struggle for a worthy triumph. But in earnest, the journey and the casted participants of the game series are what makes Venetian Italy absurdly great, and a tragic comedy to exhibit.
Babe wake up, new Spudgun video!
Well that was really entertaining
First a Battle of Trafalgar and the a Battle of Quiberon Bay! Its like an episode of Royal Navy: Greatest Hits
You did it Spud. Italy was at last not the funny nation!
beautiful game!
im so happy rn
sweet video
And a good baynana to you, too, Spudgun and Spambot!
Excellent finale, one wish is that you could have added a potential peace deal or theory crafting what a peace would have been, but it wasn’t a foregone conclusion what the war would have ended as. Thanks for the series
For that final rule dispute, I definitely agree with it being a retreat behind the lines, thats the kind of thing that rule was made to stop. If people can retreat behind the lines then people can encircle battles just by entering and retreating through them which is just straight cancer.
it wasnt behind the lines tho it was onto an unoccupied friendly prov
I enjoyed a lot
All things considered (even with the war not over) this was 100% a successful campaign.
Spud wanted to make a serious Italy and he achieved that, his Italy was a land and naval major power capable to fight on equal ground against multiple opponents.
We may argue about what could have been if things went different with the DM but i think we can all agree that the whole france\German area was a complete mess during this campaign with multiple players getting a lead and then losing it in the next war for silly reasons.
Can't wait to see the next crazy journey.
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
