Interesting how the angel of death can throw Satan for such a loop. He was clearly agitated and fidgety in her presence, demanding she leave but not having the power to force her out, showing that perhaps Shachath is more powerful than Satan. You can see it by her having the power to take both Sister Mary as well as Satan from the mortal realm when she is thrown from the balcony.
Angel of Death, she can bring death upon Satan themselves, so yes I guess she is way more powerful. But she only did something when she’s needed. She has no obligation to get rid of Satan or kill Sister Mary Eunice even though she probably could.
Literally when I experienced possession it's like your vision goes black, your body feels like it's on fire, & it literally wipes you out physically in the aftermath of being released from a demon's grip. This was well depicted & acted out, but isn't a joke or fiction either which is why this season hit home for me personally.
@@wisdomseeker0142 : Well, for one it was a sexual spirit indeed & derived it's power from sex & sexual energy. I believe I had received it from sexual abuse as a child & being exposed to sex early in life. In turn whatever was in me was an old spirit that told me things about others in being able to "read" them. It could tell who was (safe) to be sexual with & who wasn't as far as disease status went. I also knew how to please my sexual partners in specific ways. The ability to read their bodies & physical/sexual energy. The insanity of what it was didn't come forth until the division began in it being forced to leave during the exorcisms, because there was more than one. Also what was interesting, when I would burp after eating or such I literally had multiple sounds (voices) that would come out. After the last exorcism I burped normally afterwards.
I love rewatching this scene. There’s something incredible about watching these two supernatural forces with higher knowledge having a conversation. They clearly know of each other and of a greater spiritual warfare going on far beyond human comprehension. Whatever the main characters of Asylum are dealing with is peanuts to what these two have going on in the greater scheme of things. In short, I think what makes this scene so magical and mystifying is that it feels like we’re seeing something we were never supposed to see.
Honestly this "higher being talking about a multibillion year war" vibe should have been the feeling we got from Apocalypse instead of leaning into the camp as much as they did
@@879SCSP no shade just TEAAAAAA its crazy to me when fans prefer newer ahs seasons over the older ones.. the storytelling was just more intellectual like genuinely :\
I'd have to add, those patients in the insane asylum aren't necessarily dealing with "peanuts" but are the by-product of being caught up in the spiritual warfare. Some minds, hearts, & spirits are stronger willed than others. Not too many could witness a duel between 2 opposing forces of universal power going at it & be "sane" in the aftermath of it. A spirit is literally like a person entering a vehicle, once taken over & under the control of the (driver) that vehicle is at the driver's mercy.

I believe I would as well. This was a beautiful depiction of the Angel of Death. Dark, perhaps, but not evil. Not cruel. An immortal being that comes to guide the living on to the next plain without passing judgement or punishment despite the ability to see goodness and evil in the beings it is charged with helping to cross over. A terribly maligned entity and not understood. Like the God Anubis. He is often depicted as an evil God of Death, to be feared. It was his sacred duty to guide the spirits of the dead through to the after world, protecting them and keeping them company on the way. I love the way this series gave wonderful depth and complexity to these characters instead of making them 2 dimensional - and the acting is breathtaking from both actors.
I think that’s part of why this portrayal of Death stands out. She has such a gentle demeanor and they made great choices for her wardrobe as well. She is lovely, really. Usually Death is depicted as being frightening but not here.
I just realized something. When Satan tells Sacath that he has work to do, and Sacath says “As do I. I’ll see you again.” Sacath was actually talking about him because her work was actually claiming his essence at the end of the season. She knew that she was there to take Satan away from the mortal realm, but Satan didn’t seem to know this.
To add to your comment of 3 years ago, it's funny you say that. Given Satan also didn't know the crucifixion of Christ was prophecy as well. He thought by killing Jesus, means he "won" when in fact it was the opposite in sealing his own fate as well as putting a clock on his existence/reign on Earth. When Sacath said, to Sister Mary Eunice "we'll see each other again" in the demon's fear of that, meant that the demon knew it's time on Earth & in the sister was limited.
Shachath, both demanding and graceful, powerful but humble. Despite Lucifer/Satan's power, Death herself felt no compulsion to move from the room without her own motive. She didn't fear the Fallen One, even going so boldly as to call him out from beneath his facade as an Archangel like herself. As the years go by I've come to really admire this season and though I loved everyone so far (Roanoke has been fantastic) there's a sort of classic feel to this that makes it feel very epic. Definitely the best season
R. W. Mendez season 6 was worst ever and hotel was awful. First 4 series I've watched 20 or so times each, addicted to them. After Jessica left it's not the same
I couldn't stand Roanoke either. I thought Hotel was great until the season finale. It seemed like they tried to wrap everything up too quickly. Asylum is my favorite season for sure though. Brutal, and a great plot.
Angel of Death is there to transition life to death smoothly. Her job is simple and follows the plan. She doesnt influence nor force will against its owner. Whereas Satan does all of the above. Frances Conroy is mesmerizing in her role. As is Julian Richards.
I feel the inhumanity of the characters. As much compassion as the Angel of Death had for the dying man, there was nothing to be done for the possessed nun as she wasn't dying.
Frances conroy is as talented as Lange but didn't get the opportunity to play a remarkable role to leave a lasting image. During season 2, I was hoping for a scene where aliens meet demons/angels. what would have happened???
I dare say the Angel of Death is far more powerful. She does, after all, represent God's final act of closure of a spirit's presence on the Earth. You could tell Death was thoroughly unafraid of the demon in this scene. Even Satan will one day be visited by Death, and Death is never denied.
The first time I saw this when The Real Mary Eunice appeared it broke my heart, I didn’t quite know what had happened yet but this confirmed that she was a prisoner inside her own body
That beautiful calming soothing yet melancholy melody they play just really sets the atmosphere of shacath on top of the character being stunningly beautiful !
I have to say that the Acting here was great! loved it, Loved Lucifer being frustrated being stuck inside a pure shell. The Angel of Death was Magnificent.
Thanos literally worshipped a personification of Death, offering her half of the universe as an offering- if she would only return his affection. That's from the comix- much darker than the PG Thanos depicted in the movies. His deviant tainted blood helped make him into a monstrous purple Titan, besides his twisted love affair with Death itself. A different exotic woman could've played Death's Avatar in each scene , seducing the young Titan as an amusing plaything. Promising everything he could ever desire, and more...yet delivering only death..
Frances Conroy played her role with elegant, magnificent style. A perfect portrayal of the frightening - but redemptive - task the Angel of Death performs.
Best season in my opinion! This scene was so powerful! The acting was immaculate on all sides and the interaction between the two sets AHS up to become a powerhouse franchise!
The writing and dialogue was so good in Season 2, it’s one of the reasons it’s my favorite season. Sadly the ending is sorta rushed and messy but everything before it was perfect.

This was Lily Rabe's best performance.. To see her go from an Innocent nun to a vindictive murderous demon was amazing.. And Francis Conroy was absolutely gorgeous in this!!
When Death tells you "well meet again" ... yeah
lilly rabe is the best of ahs
You can hear the director say walk at the 2:41 mark
Damn, good catch!! 😂😂
maybe this is a recording of when it was still airing on tv but i cant hear anything when playing it on prime, this vid has extremely poor quality i wouldnt be surprised if this is just some random audio picked up from whoever uploaded this cause it just sounds like a random noise to me now
This was too intense
well thats ahs for ya
Idk why Mary Eunice crying out to her asking Schachath "Will you release me!" gave me chills but it did
"Who dares look upon Shachath...?" I say this sometimes when my family or friends catch me crying in solitude...
I love how in this season the ONE TIME you see the devil be scared shitless it’s by the angel of death.
After Jessica left it's not the same
Roanoke was fucking trash . Worst season of any show I’ve ever seen lmao
I couldn't stand Roanoke either. I thought Hotel was great until the season finale. It seemed like they tried to wrap everything up too quickly. Asylum is my favorite season for sure though. Brutal, and a great plot.
Hotel,Roanoke,Cult were bad in my opinion.I just hope s8 can redeem itself
I loved Roanoke, I think Coven is highly overrated
I love Frances Conroy's voice
Did you see her in "Six Feet Under?"
Angel of Death is there to transition life to death smoothly. Her job is simple and follows the plan. She doesnt influence nor force will against its owner. Whereas Satan does all of the above. Frances Conroy is mesmerizing in her role. As is Julian Richards.
Francis conroy was incredible in this season. Just seeing her as the angel of death makes me tear up. So terrifying and comforting at the same time.
Asylum was by far the best season of AHS.
The aliens were demons
You will see in season 9
Lupa Lupo not really they saved Evan peters in this season
Do you remember Conroy from "Six Feet Under?"
@@moonlightfitz what u mean you see in season 9 ? It's based on 1984 ? Not aliens
0:38 that haunting piano never fails to give me chills.
Asylum literally the best season hands down
Frances. Conroy. What a beauty and with such an ability to transform into a character. ❤
Lily rabe is incredible she portrayed the conflict between Mary Eunice and Satan so well in this scene
I forgot all about this scene... I still like this season, Asylum, the best!
TheMockAgenda Me too. I loved it.
Season 2 and Season 3 were the best
Coven was pure shite.
Coven was shitty. corny af. I like sixth season. but season two was best Indeed.
ruizj2006 conven was the best. Exploring voodoo witchcraft was awsome.
For teenage girls it's good, but it's nothing like season 1, 2 and 4. Coven was a drama series (and not a good one either)
COVEN IS GREAT WHAT DO YOU MEAN ITS BAD 1,2, AND 3
I would have though that death would be more powerful then satan
Death and satan are both angels of god, satan fell from grace but before he did, he was the most beautiful and powerful of all the angels.
Lee Tharachai They're both the same I think. Like the title says: cousins.
This scene is so amazing and powerful I love it
Lee Tharachai but wouldn't the embodiment of death itself take immortality away?
lul what yeah death should be able to take satans immortality away that's why I said wouldn't death be more powerful then Satan
I dare say the Angel of Death is far more powerful. She does, after all, represent God's final act of closure of a spirit's presence on the Earth. You could tell Death was thoroughly unafraid of the demon in this scene. Even Satan will one day be visited by Death, and Death is never denied.
God this season was SO GREAT. I miss when AHS was good.
New seasons pretty good. Idk if you’ll have the same opinion as me but I definitely enjoy it because I like the book it was based on
"She likes it here"
The first time I saw this when The Real Mary Eunice appeared it broke my heart, I didn’t quite know what had happened yet but this confirmed that she was a prisoner inside her own body
That beautiful calming soothing yet melancholy melody they play just really sets the atmosphere of shacath on top of the character being stunningly beautiful !
Sacatch is such an aestetically pleasing character its insane
"A nun perhaps. But not so simple." Brilliant
"A nun perhaps, but not so simple" best line tbh
lily and frances are the most underrated queens in ahs , and two of the great actresses of all times
Lily Rabe is pure talented it’s a shame only Ryan Murphy sees that talent within her. So underrated
Both actresses were amazing here, Death’s reaction to Satan entering and Sister Mary Eunice trying so hard to stay in control of her body.
I have to say that the Acting here was great! loved it, Loved Lucifer being frustrated being stuck inside a pure shell. The Angel of Death was Magnificent.
The entire scene is a brilliant interpretation of an American Horror Story.
A perfect image of death...in all her beauty...
The acting was immaculate on all sides and the interaction between the two sets AHS up to become a powerhouse franchise!
i love the music that plays when Shacath appears
The writing and dialogue was so good in Season 2, it’s one of the reasons it’s my favorite season. Sadly the ending is sorta rushed and messy but everything before it was perfect.
A nun perhaps but not so simple. haha
AHS will never be this awesome again…
Hands down the best season of AHS. The acting, writing, direction, plotting, settings, cinematography etc are all vastly superior to every other season. Its undebatable.
This season was everything. The actors, the theme, the emotions, the characters. Just perfect
This was the best season ever and I don't think the coming AHS season will top that. These actors were the cream of the crop.
I agreed!!! Season 2 has always been my favorite along with Roanoke
Satan meeting The Angel of Death was one of the coolest moments in this season
The spiritual truth in that scene is absolutely overwhelming
Anyone else want the angel of death to come back for the apocalypse? 😍
Tom Mercilliott I think she might :)
Well myrte and the Angel of death cant play at the same time
She’s set to come back in NYC!!!!!
A.H.S asylum was the darkest and strongest season
“We’ll meet again.” The absolutely certainty and finality behind that statement was perceptively powerful.
Love the dark tone of this season. The best along with murder house
This scene alone had me convinced that Lily Rabe would grasp the Emmy that year... still shocked she didn’t.
Really wish both actresses were on the newer seasons
agizzy23 they are.....
agizzy23 lily has been in all seasons and Frances was in all but hotel
ICONIC scene
It takes a lot to portray two personalities in one body and you're wrong if you believe Miss Rabe didn't do a terrific job of it.
You know the Angel of Death had no fear against Satan. The way she just looks as Lily is singing to her to release her.
I love her theme!
Wonderful music, so sadly, but piecefully
The first 2 seasons were so good.
"Asylum" was my favorite AHS series.
This is amazing foreshadow that angelic beings are in the ahs timeline. Aka mallory
this scene is so iconic!
My favorite season, Lily Rabe's performance as Satan & Sister Mary Eunice was awesome
ugh lily rabe and her acting! so phenomenal
