- It's time to take our new Audi A5 up another notch!
After seeing 300bhp with a custom remap the next step on these engines is to upgrade the turbo. In this vlog we fit our GTD2872VRZK which maxed the stock fuel system before upgrading straight to our Stage 2 Injectors and Bi-TDI MAF!

Great video! I love how you don't split the content into 5 clickbait titled 15 minute episodes. Makes it much better to watch, and not a single second needs to be skipped.
Thanks, we prefer it this way. We took the adverts off too, cant be dealing with those!
100%true
Brilliant lads. Immense respect for how far you're taking this and still keeping it reliable.
I'm going to get back to this vid, as I need to get ot bed (just finished work).... the effort you good folk have put into this deserves my full attention. THANK YOU ... back soon
Looking forward to see the graph starting at 1200rpm. You already did an amazing job!
Very nicely presented/explained video and great results so far. Nice job 👍
Great detailed video, keep it up!
Fantastic!! Wht a gr8 setup
Love the video man! So helpful. I kinda know how to move on with my own car now with the 2872! 😊
Top video as always very informative and very well explained 👍👍🔥
Great job fella keep um coming !!!!!!
Amazing vid 👍
Wonder how it sounded without the air filter 🤔
Another awesome video guys can't wait for the rest of the series love how much detail you go into.
Epic work as always Ryan!! Can't wait to see it with full 3" exhaust, cone filter and bigger intercooler :)
Will be surprised if they change the filter as it's not a restriction on these
Ur cute
Nice!!!😃
Really informative video, cant wait to see what you get HP and torque wise, always interested to see what the engines can do, i have not long purchased a A6 C7 3.0 V6 TDi FWD but its still bludy quick, so i am loving watching what you guys are getting out of this engine and seeing it develop, especially as your working on an engine thats done 100k, may / will have to give ya a call when ,my warranty runs out :)
What's a warranty? Haha, 20 plate Amarok coming tomorrow direct from the lease company that a customer wants tuning!
Any idea what the 3.0tdi CAPA injector thread is? (for the fuel rail) been making a slide hammer but don't have any spare tile to remove the rail from the injector to check
Is there a video covering the 2.0 common rail mk6-mk7 golf tdi engines? Would be good to see something about which are the desired engines, differences between them and how far you can push them before needed to touch the rods/pistons/studs. Sort of like a diesel golf buying guide for people wanting a tuned cr golf. Im still in the days if the old mk4 😂
Reyt then: This 2872 is big meat.. turbine wheel is thick blades one.. Huge Turbo!!
Hiya, popped down with Octavia vrs last Saturday and spoke to James about golf gtd you tuned. He said car came back down and was making even more power since some changes, would be interested to see this revisited please 👍🏻
There were a lot of variables but it did pip 300hp but no-one should try to go there unless they want to spend 10k+
Been looking for a video of yours on a CAHA engine but haven't found anything. Have I missed it somewhere?
I've been keeping an eye on your developments for the 3.0 TDIs ever since I saw your cars on Misha Charoudin's videos. My MK7 GTI has been having issues with the sunroof frame cracking and leaking water into the headliner and cabin. VW keeps fixing it, but they don't have a permanent fix so I'm going to be moving on to an Audi with the 3.0TDI as my daily. I can't wait to make more power than my Eurodyne tuned GTI, get better fuel economy, spend less on diesel than 93 octane, and have a much nicer and more comfortable interior.
Ohh yes sir!! Would it bring some power just changing the MAF? 3.0TDI ASB. Running with your Downpipe, Milltek Catback, and the software for this setup! Standart Turbo
I doubt it would!
It would be really interesting to see Darkside work on the V8 4.2 TDI in a Q7 or A8.
V10 phaeton.
How do you keep it passing emissions with exhaust/DPF mods? You said its a daily, so are you going to keep the DPF shell?
Emissions is easily passed, visual needs a DPF
What front grill are you using in the a5?. I’m looking for an rs5 style grill but with the audi badge like the one in this video
This one came on the car but will soon be replaced with just an S5 grill. If you drop us an email we will be selling it - sales@darksidedevelopments.co.uk
cant you do mafless tune in newer tdis?
With a fair bit of work but it would make it hard to get smoke free
Hey Ryan, which would you say are better engines overall for tuning and reliability, the Audi 3.0L TDI or the BMW N57 diesels, be that 245 or 258hp or even the 35d models 313hp.
I think Earlier Audi 3.0 is best. CCWA. BMW N 'series is not my friend at the moment, although the 335d I had was very fast with just a tune!
Ryan why don't you do complete packages? I'm interested in modifying the a5 3.0tdi cabriolet but would like a complete cost package. Or updating the car for something else. S3 or s5 cabriolet. Can't see complete packages on website.
Everyone wants something different, if you email we will give you a price!
Hi I'm just wondering I have 1.9 TDI golf Mk5 and looking at the exact same turbo on your website and just wondered if you guys fit it or will I have to get it fitted
And what I will need else to make it both daily and race
We can fit if required, best off emailing us with your details and we can sort a quote - sales@darksidedevelopments.co.uk
Will this work on a 2011 cayenne 3.0 V6 Diesel too?
Drop us an email to sales@darksidedevelopments.co.uk with vin/reg and we can check part numbers
Any E46 M57n/m47n power numbers? Have You tuned some ?
Have a look here - www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/bmw-projects/ - Some video's coming soon!
How much will cost roughly to take customer's A5 to the current power figures?Great video as usual!!!
Audi_HH also interested in this
6k or so roughly.
Does the dyno convert the readout from wheel HP to an engine power figure?
Yes like all dyno's do.
@@DarksideDevelopments okay thanks, in Australia its nearly always given as a power figure at the wheels. All the same it shows the huge gains your getting. Good stuff
Where do you stand with MOT's once you've fitted a dpf delete? Cheers
If the MOT testers are doing their job correctly they should fail
@@DarksideDevelopments so do your customers have to put the dpf back on for MOT?
Any idea when the n47 project is happening? Looking forward to that
We are on with it in the background!
@@ryanp6138 lovely job can't wait, really enjoy the a5 series, very capable cars in your guys hands!
Wich turbo should I be going with to upgrade my 07' 2.7 tdi A5 FWD 😶
Get a Quattro!
How quick do they get in the quarter same with the a6 tdi
Low 12s maybe?
does this modification work on b9 218 ps engine?:)
Yes it is a different turbo but we have it here - www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-gtd2872vz-billet-ball-bearing-hybrid-with-electronic-actuator-replaces-gtd2060vz.html
Hi boys, looking at doing an E46 320d 2260 and was wondering if I'd need to get the big injectors and nozzles or if I could get away with getting one or the other. Cheers
I'd fit 535d injectors and see how it goes.
@@ryanp6138 cool thanks what difference do the nozzles actually make?
@@asdfghjklkjhgfdsa69 more fuel quicker!
You need the pre lci 535d injectors which are solinoid type. The 535d lci injectors are piezo which wont work with your ecu and dont fit in the m47n head
@@jimmybobby8558 cool thanks
can u get 450bhp with the gtd28? on the 3.0tdi?
Balls out we have seen that power
Hello,
ist possible to build Facelift Turbo (CDUC ) on a Vorfacelift (CWAA) Motor and Facelift Downpipe ?
No the manifolds don't interchange
@@DarksideDevelopments Thank you for the replay
Doing this to an A4 Avant with a stick would be way cooler
And easier to tune!
V6 with manual any time soon?
Next I think! Sick of bloody Auto's!
Stock gearbox?
Stock clamping clutch pressure?.
Yes still stock
Any plans to do sequential turbos in the future??
Possibly!
@@DarksideDevelopmentsfingers crossed then! Iwould love to see some fun/affordable project with the aforementioned setup. Something around 1.6L.
Where can I find one of these! Sold out everywhere?!! Lol
find what, a turbo? We stock them usually.
what's you labour rate?
50/ Hour
How much hp and torque did you gain in just swapping the bigger MAF?
It just depends on what other modifications you have. The only time the MAF is a problem is when you're upgrading things like turbos and it becomes a restriction. Not a huge difference without other mods
@@DarksideDevelopments i have upgrades my maf, but now I get a p00af stuck fault code, how and what do you think it is? How can i solve it? Only when the turbo gets hot…
Did you tune it?
Whats the Max hp possible withous nos n meth with this turbo please?????
Safely 420s I think
What springs are on the car?
Stock I believe
Ryan P really? I have an a5 with S-line 10mm lowering and its not even close to that car.
would a garrett g series, gtx or pte gen2 turbo be appropriate for a diesel application?
they're said to be the most efficient on the market for petrol engines so would they work on a vag or beemer 4-6 cyl as an alternative to the GTDs you use a lot?
They won't spool
@@ryanp6138 even if the turbo size is broadly similar?
@@alexthompson5172 yes, the VNT mechanism is 100% required to get good spool
I believe the 3.0bitdi use a gt3076r as the big turbo.
@@oistein74 yes but small turbo is VGT and big turbo is nothing like a petrol unit
How'd this engine run on Maf off?
just as well as a good tuner can make it run.
it depens alot on the tuner
It's not worth trying IMO, a lot of strategy based upon MAF being there
@@ryanp6138 completelyt agreed, but it is an option still.
Fuck yes
Today you can say S5 ;)
So turbo without any other mods gives you 20 hp ?
It was already tuned for the stock turbo. When tuned to suit the turbo it did 346bhp.

Hey when is the new A5 vlog coming? Im having withdrawal symptoms! 😆
We have one filmed so shouldn't be too much longer ;)
Me too! 😆
Must be rare as rocking horse shit with a sports diff on a diesel, it’s rare enough on S4/5!
Doubt many opted for a 1500 quid diff! It's wasted on the worn out suspension!
the upgraded parts are so expensive that i see no point in going beyond stage one with this engines, i am not a BMW fan but 3.5d and even 3.0d looks to be a much better option if you want more power
There is not a 3.5d - only 3 litre with different tunes. Although if you really want to make power with a diesel apparently Mercedes is the way to go
There's a big difference this can put the power down consistently #Quattro
@@asdfghjklkjhgfdsa69 new s6 tdi 350 standard
The new S6 is a 3.0 also
@@asdfghjklkjhgfdsa69 drove a new S4 a few weeks ago and they are nice.
Any future plans on working on Ford diesels?
Once again, no run shown. Thanks for nothing.
Don't know if you watched it but there was a run at 9:03 ....
@@DarksideDevelopments Well I arrowed through the whole thing and IDK how I missed that. Thanks. Car sounds pretty good, then.
