  • Marie Kondo, aka KonMari, is a cleaning consultant.
Earlier this year, organizing consultant Marie Kondo was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people. One of her books on how to tidy up your life sold 1.5 million copies in Japan, and is now finding big success abroad. Her de-cluttering method focuses not on deciding what to throw away, but on deciding what to keep. And what should you keep? Only the things that excite you.
With her Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up series stirring up phenomenal sensations all over the world, KonMari visits New York to help people distressed about tidying. Gina Kruger, who lives with her husband and 2 sons, is helpless as things pile up uncontrollably in her house. KonMari comes to rescue. In the KonMari Method, you tidy not from one room to another but by category; you go through categories, such as clothes, books and sentimental items, and pick out only what sparks joy. What happens to Gina's house as a result? Check out all the tidying techniques that are guaranteed to make you want to start tidying immediately!

I like how she said we don't need to force the rest of our family to do this, but begin with ourselves because that's what I was worried about. I share a room with my sister and I'm usually more tidy than her, but I've started to develop her same habits so our room is messy. But hopefully I can start with myself and maybe she'll follow in her own time :)

I want to así about a cloth that I used in a bad day, and its remind me that awful day, and I think if I use that cloth will bring me bad luck, so I don't want to use it, but it's a really lovely cloth. I should get rid of it? Thanks, sorry my English

That little gesture, (raising the foot,) Konmari does after her greeting, reminds me of the classic American football pose for photo opportunities, where runningback is evading blocker. Be that as it may, I also respect houses as entities (why is she judiciously avoiding term, feng shui?!) That being said, a house like Gina's, w/the stairs you have to climb straight up, just to get in the door, seems intimidating from the start.

Some genius could make a KonMari AI program that would couch you through a sorting process 😃

I am just noticing her outfits, not watching the whole video. How extravagant and luxurious Konmarie seems to dress up! Makes me wonder.
edit: watched it. just saying :)

What about things in the middle.... may not spark joy per say, but may need it or dont necessarily have bad energy ?

    • @pamelahornick8108

If you really need it then keep it but if you don't need it and it doesn't spark joy then get rid of it.
