Do you have any questions or comments about this DIY toothpowder? Let me know in the comments!
Should you use the clay if you have silver fillings?
I have been doing a very similar recipe but the added cacao was new to me….I’ll try it! Thank you.
Just going thru some of the comments. By the way, I am really enjoying your channel, but noticed how hard it is to please people and just give them some sincere ideas.
Keep up the good work. You are much appreciated.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment 😊 ~ Anja
Love this recipe! Thanks!
This was posted 2 years ago.... Don't use metal measuring spoons! Use wood, glass or safe plastic only!❤
I put my powder in small spice jars with the sprinkle top
When I was a little girl, we had tooth powder. It was made by Colgate. I realize your tooth powder is much better. It just brought back the memory🙂 I am going to try your recipe. Thank you!
Sounds great! Thank you so much for sharing and for your nice comment 💛 ~ Anja
Viele Grüße zurück in meine Heimat 💛 ~ Anja
I need to try this!
Yes! It's so easy, cheap, and effective 💛 ~ Anja
Awesome... Really Thanks! ❤🖤
You are so welcome!
Thank you for the recipe. I made it but added some ground Minze, Fenchel und Kümmel for their properties. Also, I was told to never use metal when handling bentonite clay as it will react with the clay reducing most of its healing properties.
Nice; I am glad you like this toothpowder. And thank you so much for sharing about the herbs and the bentonite clay 😊 ~ Anja
High Anna, I absolutely love your recipe. I also use your face serum. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wonderful!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 💛
I wonder if you might substitute stevia for xylitol? Thanks so much for a great video🤗
Yes, that would work, too 😊 ~ Anja
Your blog recipe looks different than what you showed us here. Is this your updated recipe here on YT? It looks easy and fabulous!
Yes, I have both my original and the updated toothpowder recipe on my blog. I am so glad you like it 💛 ~ Anja
Just leaving it as powder makes most sense. 👍👍
Yes it does!
have you tried with stevia and erythritol blend instead of the xylitol if you have pets? Just because I recently found out that Xylitol is very toxic to dogs and probably cats as well. Just food for thought. I really love watching your channel and enjoy all the DIY's I have tried the sour dough starter, switched to the Weck jars and love love love them. only problem i have had is that my starter will not float ugggh.
I am so glad you're enjoying my videos! Yes, you can switch to other sweeteners or omit them entirely ~ Anja
Please note I have not read all the comments....
in the “original” recipe there is myrrh powder, but I do not see it in the video or the shopping list provided. I assume the myrrh powder is not an essential ingredient. Also, is cocoa powder, used for baking, the same as the powder you use for the toothpaste?
Thank you for your fun channel!💕
I like to switch things up a bit to get the benefits from different recipes. I use high quality cacao powder although it would be better to grind your own from cacao nibs 💛~ Anja
Thank you for the recipe. Are there substitutions for the cocoa powder? Could you use a strawberry or orange Elixir?
You can leave out the cacao powder altogether and yes, add any flavors you like. I am so glad you like this 💛 ~ Anja
Where do you get the particular baking soda that you mentioned?
I get it at my local health food store but you can get it online, too: amzn.to/346h9Qg Hope this helps ~ Anja
Is this recipe safe for children 5 years old and up? I made it today and I LOVE IT❤❤❤
I don't see why not. It's very similar to Earth Paste ~ Anja
FYI: xylitol is extremely dangerous to dogs, even a tiny bit can cause their death.
Yes, that's correct, and thank you for mentioning it ~ Anja
Thanku I’m glad for knowing this and for you sharing the information
Where can I purchase the tooth eclair oil?
You can try this link amzn.to/3n3qW3g or try getting it from the company directly. Hope this helps 😊 ~ Anja
Hi there! Thanks. Can I replace bentonite clay with calcium carbonate?
Yes, you can! All of these recipes are pretty flexible. Hope this helps 💛 ~ Anja
@@OurGabledHome thanks
Pastel powder!!
Is there a substitute that I can use instead of xylitol? It is poisonous to dogs, so we just have a rule that it never comes into our house. I really would like to try this recipe.
Yes, it is poisonous to dogs and you can leave it out entirely. I would add a bit more baking soda if you do. Hope this helps 💛 ~ Anja
@@OurGabledHome thank you Anja😊
In an older video you used myrrh powder. Do you have a reason not to use it?
That is a recipe on my blog. I like to cycle through different recipes to get their respective benefits. Also, wanted something new 🤷♀️ ~ Anja
What cacao powder do you use?
You can use any cacao powder with the highest quality you can afford
😊 ~ Anja
Is bentonite clay safe to use if you have silver fillings? I’ve heard it is not safe to use, because it reaches negatively with the fillings?? I’m not sure what to believe, does anyone know anything about this?
I would say you best discuss this with your dentist. Hope this helps ~ Anja
Yes I will, thank you so much!
Try white kaolin clay powder
When I tried clay tooth powder awhile ago, it felt gritty, left my mouth really dry and a bad taste in my mouth, so I don't know how to get around that. I know glycerin in toothpaste is moisturizing but I heard it prevents teeth remineralizing.
You can totally customize the recipe and simply use the baking soda as main ingredient. Hope this helps 😊 ~ Anja
Does bentonite clay have lead?
It might but we're not swallowing it so I am not too worried about it ~ Anja
since it has clay, can it be spit down the sink
Yes, many commercial toothpastes have clay in them, too. It's just a small amount.
I have been told don't use metal with bentonite clay - in the spooning and the lid - because it alters the charge of the clay.
I think this only applies when mixing bentonite clay with water.
Ive seen so many ppl say not to use metal with your bentonite clay. Idk, thats what they say.
Thank you for sharing!
Don’t know about it. To be determined.
Great! Hope you like it as much as we do ~ Anja
I'm a little puzzled as to why anyone would want to use synthetic sugars in a recipe that uses natural ingredients, I realize you are brushing your teeth with it but all the synthetic sugars can cause gastric upset.
You can always omit it but here's why I like to add it: www.kidsdentalonline.com/dental-topics/tips-safety/xylitol-dental-benefits/#:~:text=Studies%20show%20that%20Xylitol%20dental,and%20acid%20does%20not%20form.
