Story 7 kinda pissed me off. The guy was a loner but outright stalked the girl and scared her enough that she moved away. Just because it was told from his point of view does not make it okay, he's still a stalker.
i feel bad for the handy capped guy in the last story. he legit seems like he thought they were his friends and they just shut him out without being adults and talking to him or making the girl who was his friend talk to him and explain the situation : ( poor guy

last story can be summarised thus: People befriend someone with learning disabilities, and doesn't appear to understand social boundaries. Instead of telling him his level of affection isn't appropriate, they ghost person with learning diabilities and hurt his feelings, he lets them know in only way he probably knows how that they have hurt his feelings. op leaves, and even after years still does not have the emotional maturity to realise she was in the wrong.
Main problem with millennials: because of their endless immersion in virtual realities (texting, apps, etc.), they lack basic social skills and etiquette, in particular the ability to confront people directly - i.e., assertively, politely, and constructively, not in a cruel or aggressive way - in a face-to-face setting. Sometimes these kids apparently aren't even able to be assertive by text or on social media! They've been conditioned simply to press the "block" button when things start to get even mildly uncomfortable. But guess what? There's no "block" button in the real world, and being able to navigate tricky situations is an essential feature of emotional maturity - something I fear this generation and those to come will simply never develop. 80% of the "stalker" stories that Joel reads would be nipped in the bud on page one if the authors (generally female) simply grew a set and directly told the "creeper" to eff off... you know, what women routinely USED to do to pervy or annoying guys. In the parlance of Gen Z: *smh.*
I have a learning disability and made friends with a girl in my art class and I asked her out and she fucking snitched on me to the guidance counselor. I didn't do anything wrong. My teachers and parents sided with me and nothing bad happened to me. People need to be kind and understanding towards others who are different. She could've just said "no" and I wouldn't have cared, not tattle tale on me for no fucking reason. What a bitch!
Story 8 makes me feel sad. While the onset of schizophrenia can be terrifying for those around you (I have a very scary story of that Might some day share from when a friend developed late-onset paranoid schizophrenia) it;'s particularly when people don't understand. Someone need's to tell these things to Matt's parents and someone needs to convince his parents to get him to a psychiatrist. With medication and therapy his sub-type of schizophrenia can be controlled. That being said, I don't blame the kids for wanting to keep them at arm's length. Unpredictability is very scary.
Agreed. It made me sad as well. While I certainly dont blame any of the kids for being scared of Matthew's behavior, the narrator's tone when talking about him is really crude and angry. Calling him a pathetic attention seeking human being at the end simply because he likely has a psychiatric disorder stemming from a horrible home life and other things outside his control seems to misunderstand that it's not exactly his choice and that those behaviors are serious and need evaluation rather than insult.
The narrator pissed me off to be honest. The exact reason why these people do not get the help they need, people are so quick to misunderstand and berate them and it's just sad. That's more pathetic.

Wow, the people in the last story kinda seem like jerks. Like, this guy who you say is mentally disabled is trying to hang out with you, and you can't act like adults and tell him when you don't want to hang out? The author's not sure about whether or not he was told that they didn't want to him around for a while, you guys couldn't check to make sure you actually communicated what you wanted from this guy without playing games? The entire story just felt really childish and kinda ableist, and the whole "Let's Not Meet" at the end felt like the final insult.
I don't think they were trying to be mean they didn't like him coming over every day they don't deserve any bad harm but the least they could've done was say sorry no we don't wanna hang out and if he didn't stop to call the police
The "I was the Creeper..." story was read by Corpse Husband a few years ago. That was the golden age of horror narrators. At least we still have Lets Read to keep us entertained - you are always dedicated to your followers! The only thing is, I do miss the old content - because now every video has at least one story that I end up skipping because it seems so "high school" or tumblr-ish if you know what I mean, but we do get a lot of variety and frequent content with Lets Read, so of course I respect that. I hope you continue to enjoy your work, Lets Read, for years to come :)
No i do this when i cook in the evening coming home from work. Some stories can sometimes creep me out as my kitchen is at the back, and i live alone in another country to my birth one. Everytime i hear a slight noise I literally freeze up, grab a sharp utensil and go around the house until i know it's all clear.
I've sometimes listened to these when doing things on our yard, cooking, drawing, playing a game, cleaning..depending on the time of year and the type of road,during driving too lol

Indeed! I would imagine many of us had that exact thought at several points in the story. It's like, if somebody's being all distant and uncommunicative, then just...let it freakin' go! I can relate to radio guy. I started gettin pretty bad with a girl I liked before. I never got arrested or in any trouble, I pretty much just realised what I was doin on my own and stopped. I wish I could apologise to her but it's best to just leave her alone. Maybe I'll tell my story someday but for now all I'll say is I'm kicking myself to this day and constantly asking myself what was wrong with me? There's no excuse for my behavior.

The story about Mathew sounds just like my ex, his name is also Mathew he has light baby blue eyes that would “change” with his fits and he has the same “episodes” he would just go blank a lot or lack emotion randomly. He’d have convolution fits sometimes as well, later in our relationship he tired to tell me he has possessed by a demon named Adam and that Adam hated my every being and that he wanted to kill me. Mathew did have a bad background with his family his dad never wanted him and left him as a baby and his mom was seriously overweight and he took care of her for most of his child hood. He became very aggressive with everyone when his mom had a new baby(a little girl). He would lie about every little thing even if I knew the truth. He would try to fit in by being supper “goofy” but just ended up being annoying most of the time because of how overwhelming he got.(he’d run around you or take things and hide them childish things to do at 17years old I’m 18) Mathew and I dated for over two years(I tired to break up multiple times but his mom would get involved and he’d do absolutely anything to apologize, and he’d threaten to kill himself, cops got involved more than once) we broke up 7 months ago, and he’s completely lost himself, telling everybody in school to stay away from him, that if he talked to them he’d kill them. That whole story makes me think that’s him from someone else’s prospective and that really scares me. (We have mutual friend named Nathan as well)
At 30:19 I really respect that guy for sharing his story, just because of his sheer honesty, it shows how easily you can be labeled as a "creeper" in today's society, sometimes desperation happens when you're not exposed to a lot of situations involving social interaction, especially with how sheltered he was. I accidentally scared my ex because she was the first girl I was in love with, and it broke me when she wasn't in love with me, I wasn't emotionally equipped to handle that, it felt like she completely turned her back on me when I thought she was supposed to be my best friend, it's been two years and I'm still healing, of course I had no intention of hurting her, but I was just not the best guy for her, and i was too selfish to see that, with my healing it's going to be a long time before I trust another person like that, because she refuses to have contact with me I can't even tell her I'm sorry

2nd story about Italy I must ask wtf was that mother's issue? If a bunch of grown men who were strangers were hovering around my daughter to the point she's having to physically push them away I am going to tell them to go away and I'm going to talk to the manager and if they keep up their slime-ball ways I'm going to find a different place to stay. What I am NOT going to do is invite these freaks to be my friends on Facebook and I am absolutely not going to send the slimiest of the over attentive cheap motel staff to go to pick up my daughter who is alone and locked in the villa, especially when he's going to pick her up on his vespa/motorbike so my daughter will have to basically hug him the whole way to the lobby. Ridiculous!!!!!! Thanks mom. This mother's actions could have gotten her daughter assaulted.
For the other perspective story, he seems to know he was in the wrong but at the same time, tries to justify everything he did. I think he should realize that none of his actions should have been justified. Especially 'because he was a kid.'
One time my best friend and I were in downtown and we were waiting for an Uber when some creep watched us from down the street, he approached us and tried chatting us up, be we’re weren’t there for it, and when he saw I was going to run away, he grabbed my friend by her arm, she froze, and I snatched her by her other arm and we hid in the store, but that creep kept following us around, we circled to store to lose him and the Uber came a few minuets later
Every time someone describes the layout of the space they are in I automatically know that it's important. Why else would they take the time to tell you the measurements of the window? Lol. They really don't need to say "this will be important later." ;-p
Also,the way the guy ended the Matthew story is completely ridiculous. Matthew sounds like he's suffering from schizoeffective disorder,so needed support and not to be told he's a "disgusting human being" and "using demons as a cry for attention" for having delusions that most likely terrify him considering he goes to church where the use of religion is already toxic and would have fueled them further and made him feel like he was possessed because let's face it,churches do nothing but make you think anything to do with mental illness is a demon that needs to be flushed out. He could get on top of it with correct medication,and learn to manage his condition. If anyone has ever suffered delusions or auditory/visual hallucinations it's horrible,I get them under high levels of stress and it's horrendous and exhausting.

Yes just woke up to a "list of rules" this morning from roomate that she doesnt even follow and some are really randomly specific lol.. no flushing food, so... throw away my old soup watery into garbage...ok then..no washing anything in bathroom sink that isnt hands... so wash my brush in the kitchen....ok then..lol why even and theres many more

The story about Mathew sounds just like my ex, his name is also Mathew he has light baby blue eyes that would “change” with his fits and he has the same “episodes” he would just go blank a lot or lack emotion randomly. He’d have convolution fits sometimes as well, later in our relationship he tired to tell me he has possessed by a demon named Adam and that Adam hated my every being and that he wanted to kill me.
Mathew did have a bad background with his family his dad never wanted him and left him as a baby and his mom was seriously overweight and he took care of her for most of his child hood. He became very aggressive with everyone when his mom had a new baby(a little girl).
He would lie about every little thing even if I knew the truth. He would try to fit in by being supper “goofy” but just ended up being annoying most of the time because of how overwhelming he got.(he’d run around you or take things and hide them childish things to do at 17years old I’m 18)
Mathew and I dated for over two years(I tired to break up multiple times but his mom would get involved and he’d do absolutely anything to apologize, and he’d threaten to kill himself, cops got involved more than once) we broke up 7 months ago, and he’s completely lost himself, telling everybody in school to stay away from him, that if he talked to them he’d kill them.
That whole story makes me think that’s him from someone else’s prospective and that really scares me. (We have mutual friend named Nathan as well)
The pronunciation of the Bible historical figures made me laugh because that’s me when i try to read the Old Testament too lol

At 30:19 I really respect that guy for sharing his story, just because of his sheer honesty, it shows how easily you can be labeled as a "creeper" in today's society, sometimes desperation happens when you're not exposed to a lot of situations involving social interaction, especially with how sheltered he was. I accidentally scared my ex because she was the first girl I was in love with, and it broke me when she wasn't in love with me, I wasn't emotionally equipped to handle that, it felt like she completely turned her back on me when I thought she was supposed to be my best friend, it's been two years and I'm still healing, of course I had no intention of hurting her, but I was just not the best guy for her, and i was too selfish to see that, with my healing it's going to be a long time before I trust another person like that, because she refuses to have contact with me I can't even tell her I'm sorry

2nd story about Italy I must ask wtf was that mother's issue? If a bunch of grown men who were strangers were hovering around my daughter to the point she's having to physically push them away I am going to tell them to go away and I'm going to talk to the manager and if they keep up their slime-ball ways I'm going to find a different place to stay. What I am NOT going to do is invite these freaks to be my friends on Facebook and I am absolutely not going to send the slimiest of the over attentive cheap motel staff to go to pick up my daughter who is alone and locked in the villa, especially when he's going to pick her up on his vespa/motorbike so my daughter will have to basically hug him the whole way to the lobby. Ridiculous!!!!!! Thanks mom. This mother's actions could have gotten her daughter assaulted.
For the other perspective story, he seems to know he was in the wrong but at the same time, tries to justify everything he did. I think he should realize that none of his actions should have been justified. Especially 'because he was a kid.'

One time my best friend and I were in downtown and we were waiting for an Uber when some creep watched us from down the street, he approached us and tried chatting us up, be we’re weren’t there for it, and when he saw I was going to run away, he grabbed my friend by her arm, she froze, and I snatched her by her other arm and we hid in the store, but that creep kept following us around, we circled to store to lose him and the Uber came a few minuets later

Every time someone describes the layout of the space they are in I automatically know that it's important. Why else would they take the time to tell you the measurements of the window? Lol. They really don't need to say "this will be important later." ;-p
Also,the way the guy ended the Matthew story is completely ridiculous. Matthew sounds like he's suffering from schizoeffective disorder,so needed support and not to be told he's a "disgusting human being" and "using demons as a cry for attention" for having delusions that most likely terrify him considering he goes to church where the use of religion is already toxic and would have fueled them further and made him feel like he was possessed because let's face it,churches do nothing but make you think anything to do with mental illness is a demon that needs to be flushed out. He could get on top of it with correct medication,and learn to manage his condition. If anyone has ever suffered delusions or auditory/visual hallucinations it's horrible,I get them under high levels of stress and it's horrendous and exhausting.
