Glad I didn't ever remember my parents having brushed a legitimate concern off... And if the Dad knew about the attic having an outside entrance, then that is HORRIBLY negligence on the parents part. 😒
I once called them because I thought I heard someone walking around the house at night. I was super scared and so they called a friend to come over until they could get back. It turned out to be some weird thing the wind would do. I once saw someone trying to get into the house, and instead of calling my parents, I decided to out scare the person. I went and got my brush axe (looks like a mix between a scythe and an axe) and then walked around the house talking crazy about what I would do with anyone I found... Hey, over the years I've learned you just have to out crazy 'em.

A theory- the dad in the first story is actually the creepy stalker. Because what normal parent is literally that useless

@@scottp.548 TBF I can completely understand why someone may not go up and investigate, themselves... But not calling the police when you've got every right to believe someone's in your house is definitely a stupid move. Apple didn't fall far from the tree, I guess!

Some of these stories are so frustrating to listen to 😑 but Lets Read does an amazing reading them 💛
I agree from the grammar to the continuity fails to the obvious fakeness, unrealistic dialogue, purple prose, use of words that aren't actually words in a vain attempt to sound smart, the fact that almost every female is less than 5'3 and 125 lbs and every bad guy male is somehow close to 7 feet tall.
I could go on and on- I really think the stories are mostly written by teenagers 16 and under and I swear Im so damn sick of hearing the phrase "pure dread washed over me."
But let's read is SUCH a good storyteller, so good at what he does that I enjoy hearing him narrate even the shittiest of stories. When the guest narrators come one though... Man, it's so hard to make it through those and oftentimes I have to skip those stories altogether because without Joel's voice it's too shitty to handle
I've gotta say; the father in the 1st story really ticked me off 😡 As parents; it's our job to protect our children to the absolute best of our abilities. It's not implausible for someone to sneak into a house and lurk in the attic. I mean, geez, did he want them to get murdered in their sleep 🙄? Some parents 😒😣
I cannot believe how some people, like the first narrator’s parents, insist on wallowing in their own blindness. Whatever happened to taking your loved ones seriously and making sure there are no intruders your home? It IS noble to defend your family. It is appalling how people are growing more lazy and careless with their families’ safety.
Can’t believe the girl in the second story. Trust your gut like omg. If your friend was not comfortable than why would you go alone with the guy? These women in the stories tend to piss me off. Like as a woman myself I know to trust my gut it’s life or death sometimes. Can’t believe some girls aren’t taught that and are so trusting and naive.

One of the craziest things about the Harley one to me that the OP still kept saying that his "ex-girlfriend" wouldn't stop messaging them. Like, child, think of all the random accounts he made to stalk you and then put it together.

There's girl who suspects that someone is living in her attic and does nothing about it, the dad who doesn't care to make sure his daughter feels safe in her own home, the girl who knows a guy was deliberately molesting her and is willing to be alone with him, and the girl who is constantly mistreated by a "friend" and doesn't cut that "friendship" off when said mistreatment is consistent. With all of their uselessness when it comes to protecting themselves all of these people are looking at a future being victims of murders and or rapists

EDIT: Girl in story 3 wasn't much better. Took waaaay too long to block and lose all connections with that toxic dude.
Bloodedskull19 probably because so many girls and women have been assaulted and even murdered just for rejecting a guy. He was clearly unstable and she might have thought it would be safer if things just fizzled out instead of confronting him.
@@annie_xo I won't say it's not a double-edged sword, but that doesn't mean we should only 'play it safe'. That lets people like that guy on 3 get away with too much for far too long and no one should sit there and take it before it gets too late. That toxicity builds up instead of fizzling out, they don't usually take no for an answer--they often want control and will try to use your fear to get it.
Even if that's what she thought, I don't blame her but it's sad to see how many women have stories like this and do nothing to stand up for themselves when they need to the most.

or
"...as though..."
but not both.
In story 6, OP says "...as if though..." and it is one of my biggest pet peeves. It makes you sound redundant.
