@@commonsense3632 The Democrat Party that was comprised of slave owners. *ISN'T* the Democrat Party of today they've evolved. They have acknowledged their past sins, & are striving to make amends.

Remember that the First Black POTUS ever elected to the White House. Was a Democrat & *NOT* a Republican. Do you *REALLY* think that they would have put forward a Black man as the nomination for their party. If they still held the same values they did back then.

I missed this on television, and am highly grateful to have seen this on CZcams. I saw the 60minutes video and am enthralled. l have ancestors from the Pittsylvania area of Virginia and know they had enslaved people as they too had plantations. John Rolfe and Rebbecca Rolfe were Tobacco plantation owners. Her great grandson owned Cobbs. My Bannister family owned Battersea. I was adopted and always wondered who was my real family and was surprised to find out I am the 12 generation carrying the gene from Pocahontas. There are too many in American politicians, Forefathers, Foremothers, through Nancy Reagan and my FAVORITE find was Edith Bolling Gault Wilson. The hardest part has been dealing with the fact that enslavers, and Captains of slave ships were in my family. We really don't choose who our parents or Ancestors are. It is living with this fact, and being able to talk about it that will help.

The family together will free ancestor's soul because that, and their soul will rest in peace for eternity, that that the job of descendent. They will bless all family. Now they are alive, living where they lived. The cemetery is simple but peaceful around the beautiful trees. From there they guided the family to come and own the house. From Ft. Ann NY and Wakefield Conn. From 1605 the first birth in the "new world" of my family was escaping the tyrannical King James religious/state oppression.

I have mixed feelings about this story. I was waiting to here Karen speak the truth of how it feels. To walk on land where her slaved relatives once lived. At first she seem to water down what actually took place here.
I was saying as I watched. Come on Karen, speak out and tell the interviewer, it's a painfully brutal story" knowing her Ancestors were forced into Slavery and treated as if they weren't human.
We can't sugar coat the truth. I'm glad things came back full circle. But for those who own Slaves and they're Ancestors. Evil runs through your bloodline. May there souls finally rest in peace.💯
