I buy most of my wheels from EWheels. Why? Because of their selection, price, and perhaps most importantly, Jason's dedication to customer satisfaction and his ongoing support of the community. If the website doesn't list what you are looking for, give them a call. Use this link which lets them know that I've referred you: www.ewheels.com/MartyBacke - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Oh Marty, you do everyone such a favor by doing these tests. You put yourself through hell when the wheel fails. This cant be easy for you. But please know your efforts are much appreciated. Thanks, buddy. Stay safe
My phone is overheating waiting for this.
This is hard work... The EUC community thank you for it
After seeing these vids, I wonder why they even SELL EUC without putting it on this hill! They should know by now that they are coming here to be recorded.
Failures are even mentioned in the descriptions by some of the main wheel distributors. Which could kill sales before getting off the ground! They should RIGOROUSLY be tested here. Especially the "off-road" wheels....
It should be a bragging right in their sales!
Like all sports cars do on the Nurburgring... Finishing times should be tracked...🤔
Great work Marty, we appreciate all your effort. Bravo !
all i've learned from overheat hill is that EUCs are not meant to go up overheat hill
KS16X passed overheat hill.
Until it is not GW Tesla
The MSP passed the hill test. So actually what you should have learned is that companies need to up their game, like GOTWAY has and kingsong in case of the 16X
I think he got ks18xl up it but barely
@@PhotoBoothStartUp As far as I remember - Z10 did not > shut off - no burn-out, as some others did :-).
Marty Backe; Destroyer of Wheels =D
That's one loud fan Marty! Loved the "there's a rattle snake at the top" comment. The risks you take for EUCs! 😎😅
Wow.. was not expecting v11 to fail....and yes I would really like inmotion to get back with specific details about what is different about pre production v11 controller and latest one....
Thanks for going through all that for science! Greatly appreciated.
Very nice job Marty👍 once again you take all the risks for our safety. All my respects and many thanks from Belgium 🤙
Excellent travail Marty, je vous remercie pour tous vos efforts. Je suis vos vidéos de France avec avec beaucoup d'intérêt et de plaisir. Bravo !
Merci :-)
Still remember your face when you tested the GW MCM5 passing the test.....great wheel. I do respect all your tests...great credibility. You sold me the MCM5.....excellent buy, I’m enjoying it to its fullest. Thank you, Marty.
MY GOTWAY MSP IS LOOKING BETTER AND BETTER!
THANKS FOR CONFIRMING THAT Marty!
You go through fire and brimstone to test these WHEELS, great work,🤩🙏❤️
You need to carry the Mten3 to get you home after failures.
Agreed!
Yes. This would be good. Leaving those failed ones behind there.
Has the MTen3 ever passed overheat hill? If it has that would be amazing.
and then what, carry a 60 lb wheel while riding the mten? i would pay to see that haha
Rywokast - Nah. You leave the dead wheel behind (along with the rest). Get home save on your MTen3 come back the next day with a few friends to collect the dead wheel. LOL LOL LOL!
Great video Marty! Please do more like this!
These are the BEST videos about EUC ever. EVER. The most entertaining ones for sure. Kudos Marty. I am almost ashamed to be so happy to see you in a pickle.
:-) Thanks
The moment of truth! The 2020 wheel of the year crown hangs in the balance.
S18 👌😜, all of this v11 commercial gimmick was powder to the eyes of people. but watch that one make it to OHH and back man! Marty couldn't hand'e one more walk down this hill looool. No, seriously big respect to the master for doing this for us, and i seriously hope S18 takes you back home 😉🙏

Let's check S18 now on overheat hill :)
2020 wheel of the year?
Last batch of KS16X!
(ok, please understand that it will arrive in the next few days, my first wheel 😎)
@@DIVA-MC-7 LOL my S18 died shortly after taking it out of the box. Trading it for a V11 now.
Oh man, i was feeling the pain of this poor wheel, hearing the fan spinning and suffering..... Crane shame , the new meme for your test Marty
The one thing that really interests me with these wheels is this.
We know how wonderful these things perform under normal weight tests, let's say someone who is around your weight, but what if you wanted to carry a full on back pack with all the camping fear weighing half your original weight.
So let's say you had a back pack on that weight if you are 13 stone let's say 7 stones, carrying something roughly 44 kilos.
How easy would it be for these wheels to perform their tasks, ie over heating, grip, tire troubles.
I never see a fat person ride these wheels the best way to simulate that would be with a very heavy back pack, would the wheel over heat fast, would it struggle to climb the hills, would the battery die after only a few miles rather than the 60 miles you get with just your weight.
No one ever does these kinds of tests and I think they would be extremely valuable to not only fat people but to those who want to use them to go camping or there heavy use.
Would they stand up to any kind of punishment at all or just fail to function.
What if you had someone who was heavy to start with but had a heavy back pack on maybe not 44 kilos but maybe 20 kilos, would it work?
Great test...thx for your time and efforts...
Great vid👍
Marty, the EUC burnout king!
Cheers
Thanks for testing.
I ride a lot uphill in hot weather so this is no good... Looking forward to the follow up.
That was some elegant fence climbing😂.
To bad about the wheel, interesting to see what failed. Thanx Marty👍
I would love to see a rematch with a later batched production model! Great vid!!
Nice work MartyR 😉👍
The V11 was not interested in overheat hill. Love your videos Marty, stay safe
My mind overheated for sure while waiting for this
Thanks for the vid Marty! I'm going to try not to freak out too much at this point seeing I pre-ordered this wheel last week and delivery time has now changed to late September. Questioning the delivery date change they told me there's a half dozen things they're changing on the latest production units. Wait and see I guess, anxious to see your follow up video to this... Thanks for your continued excellent work for the community!!!

You have changed. And I like it. You seem more strict on the wheels. I think now you understand why I been so critical on these companies to make the quality better in these. Ur totally right. If u we’re going 20mph or faster and it overheated u really could have got hurt. At least it didn’t blow up like the Sherman. But man you have balls testing these pre production. U didn’t even do over heat hill it started to get hot even before. Just based on weather. Why is there not a fan in it. And that control board and the wires look to tiny for a wheel like that. Please keep it up. Please keep being strict on these companies to hold them accountable to insure all of our safety. Thank you so much.
Oh no! Another one bites the dust 💨
You ROCK! I love watching you. Thanks for taking one for the team.
I love your videos.
Watching you struggle to climb over that fence was glorious.....lol.🤣
I'll remember your comment :-)
You made it, Marty. At last you made it.
By the way, this is the first EUC, that die, while you getting rest, not while you riding.
Look like suspension do not help to pass this test )
Between this and seeing Hsiang total his V11 after one crash... I'm definitely waiting another 6-8 months on the V11
you came so close to the rattle snakes twice. i think the noise if the fan scared him still. also great video order mines yesterday.
This has to be done again.
Still anxious to get my V11.
I watched your video with the V11 weird tilt back and I was thankful I put my deposit down on an S18. I mean, I wouldn’t assume the S18 would do any better on overheat hill, but after your last few reviews, eeeeeeesh!😬
Hi sir, how was the s18? I’m choosing between the 2, some feedback would be appreciated. I’m not going to push it hard, I’m new. Did you encounter any issues? Is it durable? I’d likely crash it
20:30 I'm afraid you don't make it in the apocalypse of a Walking Dead ;). Nice video man, keep it up!
Wow... That sucks Marty! I’m still getting mine but that does suck! I really hope they do something to fix this. Now I’m being told they already changed motors. I’m worried but hopeful since mine is now on the way
Thanks for your tests: wheel defects are known (and disclosed) in less time, and, generally speaking, basically, less time passes before people can buy more reliable batch.
what a tragedy, but you make it super entertaining MArty!
Marty! Wow! I realize I’m late to the ‘Comment Party’ but man.... THANK YOU! ...for all the pain in the ass trouble you go through to help manufacturers see some serious design short-comings! (You’d THINK they would be exceedingly motivated to be running ‘test-to-failure’ scenarios as part of their design / QA program... automatically!
Might be a good thing it happened the way it did - while you were taking a break - as it could have failed ‘inmotion’!
I wonder if this could be what caused Hsiang’s V11 failure?
Need That S18 Test!!!! With The One That Everyone Took The SHIT Out Of! The One That Chooch Had, I trust it to go up there. 🤞🤞🤞🤞
sorry for your troubles. will be interesting to see what blew up on it. i don’t see any good cooling design on that motherboard.🤷♂️
Main board compartment on v11 looks pretty tight and stuffed with wires. s18 looks more clean imo. Wonder if that's just a cooling issue.
The cover that goes on top of v11 MB looks pretty airtight looking at it closer.
Ive already ordered this wheel... hope it goes well..
Dude! Will you update this post with news about how yours performs? I haven't ordered but I plan to. Just seeing how it goes with you early adopters.
2 pcb stacked face to face then power plugs sitting on top of that all in that tiny little space.. not surprised it ran hot
WOW another intense and very telling test. Yes we know people don't really climb hills like this but this is a great test. Maybe I'm biased because the MSP made it no problem even with a heavier rider. Great test, I just hope the S18 makes it. I personally use this test as a way to determine how much engineering effort went into building a particular machine in terms of stress, which will determine my comfort level when pushing it. (i might have completely made that up, but still 😅 ) Older wheels are forgiven. PLEASE S18 MAKE IT (GLAD YOU MADE IT OVER THAT GATE LOL)
@U-Stride MSP is a solid performance wheel...I enjoy the ride on my 2000w alot....Thinking of adding the S18 later this year also here waiting to see how it performs...but either way i have hated how the V11 has been over engineered .....esp if u get used to how easy the gotway wheels are.....

Isnt there a new video of the s18 getting overpower cutout at low speed...i doubt it will make it..
@@jefft7308 ???
Thanks Marty! They need to give you the key to the city, or at least the key to that gate.
Exactly the same problem occurred on my v8f. Wheel was frozen. I am an electric tech guy and i saw one mosfet was dead and shorted all of its legs. Also it made some other element such as diod, smd cap, resistor and mosfet driver chip died.
ElectricUnicycles This so sad. Glad I held off on getting the V11. Maybe this is an extreme deal with the wheel but what a disappointment. Marty you mind giving us a quick list of the wheels that beat overheat hill?
Where do I find a list of wheels that succeeded and wheels that failed? Would be nice to have a wiki about this.
I think it was: Gotway MCM, KingSong 16X and Gotway MSP
I also believe the KS18S made it to the top then overheated, but after a short cool down it went on to complete the journey.
(It was why I purchased one)
Do we know if all the wheels were tested under similar weather conditions? I would have thought the temperature plays a big part.
Tesla also succeeded
@@edgar_ssi totally forgot that one, but that's why I own that one too...lol 👍 🍻
@ElectricUnicycles , Marty, how steep is the Overheat Hill? Could you please measure the inclination next time your there.
You crack me up man
I was thinking worse case scenario would have been it asking you to step off the wheel like the V10 does when it starts to over heat.. Not blowing up. Maybe a firmware fix can do that. The two problems you have had seem to be able to be fixed by firmware updates. I am okay if the wheel keeps asking me to step off so it can cool down if I am climbing very steep hills in the desert in the middle of summer. Cause well...I will never be climbing steep hills in a desert in the middle of summer ..but if by chance I do please let Inmotion know asking me to step off is okay.
Now, do you say that this EUC technology is not safe? Needs more security system? It can fail when you ´re on?
Thank for the vidéo
Marty, Please do this test with the new V12!!! PLEASE!!!
So of the new wheels coming out (or of the ones in the past year). It seems as if a lot of these mechanisms are experimental this year. Would you recommend still trying to acquire a 2020 model or a previous year model for a new rider looking to get into EUCs. Thanks for your in depth reviews and videos helping me decide!
There are still a lot of nice reliable wheels out there, like the MSP, Nikola, KingSong, etc.
@@ElectricUnicycles I second that
Lethal weapon V 'I m too old for this kind of stuff' :D
Not excusing failure, shouldn't have happened - but wondering if laying on side instead of standing up challenged design parameters of heat dispersion...?
Hmmm... I wonder if that's why InMotion added the "kick stand". They don't want you laying the wheel down.
Marty, at 12:08 you said "V10" instead of "V11". Maybe that caused the V11 to have a seizure.
Maybe plugging it into a charger will calm it down and restore its functions. 😉
HAHAHAHHA
When I got mines I notice it had like a hissing sound when on and when it’s charger did anyone else experience this.
As always, great vid!
Hey, Wheel Killer... Any word on S18? I'd like to see that wheel do the same ride... or did I miss it?
Anyway, I appreciate your killer instinct!
If I get the S18 I'll test it.
@@ElectricUnicycles I will wait with bated breath...
Hi again, with the V11, is the bottom part of the pedal metal hinge edge able to possibly come in contact with the tyre?
When landing from a height, the pedal is at its lowest height from the ground, the tyre has been fully compressed and bulging outwards from the wheel rim, is it possible for the tyre to come in contact with the metal part of the pedal hinge? Thanks.
No
Marty - any update from InMotion on the Range Test issue you had near the end with the tilt-back at 12% battery? - I had high hopes for this wheel .. now I'm not so sure. Thanks for all you do.
No, Inmotion never provided me additional information.
@@ElectricUnicycles OK thank you.
Ordered the wheel yesterday. Not sure if I want to know the results haha
V11 didn't even make it to overheat hill what a disappointment!! Pre order canceled. Thanks for your review Marty!! This one needs better cooling for sure.
Hi there.
I don't know if you turned off the wheel when the fan is turned on.
In that case you don' t have to turn off the wheel berfore the fan stop automatically. If you do it before, the fan will be stopped and the temperature goes very high.
Let me know what happend.
Thanks for your videos ;-)
I never turned off the wheel during the ride
Hi friend! I congratulate you greatly for your sobering videos. I wanted to ask you which wheels pass the test and how far do you have to travel to get to the top of the hill? and how steep in degrees is the hill? I live in a city in Chile that has many hills and I want to buy a wheel of this one for its power to climb hills and I want to make the best decision between several brands and well, no one better than you to give me your opinion
Sorry, I can't answer all your questions. Here's the location of the base of the hill. Look at it in Google Earth and maybe that'll help: goo.gl/maps/dUxhrU88wEvWbGaRA
it did get pretty hot just on it's way - may not be a sustained climber due to heat management
Sheesh, better ambient temps than what the Sherman went through and it didn't even get to go up the hill LOL
If it will die from Excessive heat, why has a temperature sensor
Yes, a fail on OHH not too serious. But on a hot day and cruising at a high speed, that's a worry. Great vid.
I actually don't agree in this case. I didn't even get to the main test and no other wheel has failed like this. I would be concerned about riding the V11 for extended periods in ANY kind of stressful conditions.
Yes, that is a good point. Failing at such a low threshold doesn't give much assurance it will be safe on a warm day or a longer continuous ride with hills involved. Even if Inmotion claims an improved board has been implemented, might be wise to be sceptical and do the OHH test to see if it won't fail at such a low threshold again. In motion can make promises, but it's your neck on the line if it fails. Very nice work Marty, you're kinda like a heroic guinea pig, doing unpaid work and taking the risks for the rest of us. I hope everyone understands this and really appreciates all your great videos and efforts, by using your affiliate links. Look forward to the next vid, thanks.

Not sure what camera or filter your using but it does the hill no justice. Makes it look like your riding on the flat
Ouch! At one point I had heard that they would have a quieter fan in the prod version. Is that true?
I don't know - we need someone with a production wheel to demonstrate how noisy it is.
If you provided the elevation gain and length of your hill, then we could relate your experience to our local hills.
Carry on.
Well that was just a sad effort on the v11s part. It's just really bad that the last 2 wheels have failed.
Cool CGI. What game engine u use?
Hey Marty.. Would you consider this a good all round first EUC for me after riding OneWheels for almost two years now or is there a better model/make you recommend considering it failed on you? Is that fan noise distracting in person/normal to have with all EUC models when it's overworked? Is the production model v11 improved over this? Thank you
Hi Justin. Glad to see coming onboard to the EUC scene. Join my Telegram to get hooked into the local EUC scene. The production V11 is a very nice wheel at a premium price. But you should know that Inmotion wheels are considered high quality intermediate wheels - they are limited in speed and range. EVERYONE I've known who started with an Inmotion wheel eventually felt compelled to buy a performance wheel. IMO, it's more cost effective to buy the best wheel that you can afford first because you will rapidly grow into it and will get your full monies worth out of it.
If you foresee yourself participating in group rides, etc., then I would consider a Gotway wheel with 1800wh or more battery capacity.
@@ElectricUnicycles thank you for your reply.. what is telegram? Yes I'm interested in group rides..I guess I'm interested in the suspension which (correct me if I'm wrong) isn't in any models that are the fastest and longest range..I was interested in the veteran Sherman but wasn't sure if it's suitable for me as it's one of the biggest, heaviest EUCs and has no suspension, even though one of the fastest and greatest range.. Which Gotway model would you recommend then? Thanks again
@@justinspirational I'll let you Google "Telegram". Send me a private message and I'll provide you the invite link to my group (250+ members). Suspension wheels are great, but they aren't a magic bullet for comfort. We are in the Model-T days of suspension. The quality and choices will probably mature over the next few years.
The Sherman, with its weight and tire just about makes up for its lack of suspension. It's pretty much my favorite wheel right now. Alternatives would be the Nikola Plus or Gotway RS. There is a new Gotway EX which offers high performance and range with suspension. But it's very new and I haven't yet tested it so I would have reservations about recommending it right now.
@@ElectricUnicycles ok thank you
It's hard to see the gradient your on? At points it just looks flat but it could be extremely steep??
There are a couple of ~10-foot sections where it's flat. Otherwise it's very steep.

Thank you Marty
You got the wheel to over 170 degrees fairenheit which is hot for something that doesn't have cooling fins and being that you were going so slow there wasn't enough air passage to do any substantial cooling.
The control board is in an enclosed chamber with zero air flow. How fast you ride has no effect on air passage since there's no air passage :-)
ElectricUnicycles isn’t the board hosting the MOSFETs cooled by a heatsink with fins on the wheel side?
Which is fine when riding at good speed but ineffective when stopped or riding at high power + low speed (aka hill climbing)
@@supercurioTube Yes.
Do you intend to do it again with the production unit?
I'm not buying one and nobody has offered me a production wheel to try. So probably not.
It’d be great if they could incorporate an auto engaging disk brake in these wheels so help save battery and stress on the board.
Hi, Your helmet is Troy Lee Designs Stage ?
See links in the Description
I’ll cancel my pre order I think. Didn’t even make it to overheat hill.. let alone up it. Plus seeing the recent video of the v11 crashing leaving just a pile of bits, has put me off. My v8 has been crashed a lot and is still working like new.
My mind is blown. Like a title fight that lasts 3 seconds. Made it to the base of OHH! Incredible! You can make the case for the Sherman that it was well beyond what we would expect of that wheel. That in everyday use the Sherman is just fine. I wouldn't hesitate to buy that wheel because it didn't make OHH. This however is a different story entirely. Like you said, unless they can explain how a different board would prevent this from happening, I would not buy this wheel. You said it would be exciting and well I guess it was. Just not in the way I was hoping. I thought maybe it would equal the MSP.
I like your Title Fight analogy :-) Yeah, I'm a little uncomfortable with the V11 right now.
