Previously, I only showed the throwing and trimming of these pouring bowls, but this week I'll be covering their entire creation from soft clay, to the finished, reduction fired pieces, including a pouring test to see how well they perform. Do you do anything to the wooden table boards which you work from, like linseed oil etc ?
Nothing for my ware boards, and for my main workbench, I’ll sand and oil it once or twice a year, if that. I want it be relatively absorbent so clay doesn’t stick and smear over it as I wedge. Eventually, I’ll flip the tabletop over and use the other side, but I’ve still got a good few years to go before that.
