    In part five of our Honda CL / CB350 carburetor rebuild, things are wrapped up by installing the idle mixture screw and setting it for initial start up. Finally we show you how to test the slide & diaphragm for proper operation; this is critical inspection on any CV or constant velocity style carburetor like the Keihin carbs used on Honda CL / CB350K from the factory.

    Most excellent choice of song to start the video with. Crazy how that song sounds nothing like the rest of the album.

    Excellent set of videos for rebuilding the 350 carbs. I followed along and just finished the pair for my 71 CL350. Bought the rebuild kit from CMC and all the parts fit perfectly. Also got a new set of intake boots. Thanks Brenden for another great set of videos and for all your help.

    These videos have been a Godsend since I've never messed with a carburetor. Everything went per the video until the idle screw. The one you described was NOT the one that came out! The length was the same but the threaded part is thinner. I installed it with the spring and o-ring but I don't know if the o-ring is correct.

    There are some great tips in these videos, like checking the CV slide by blowing in it.

    The manual says the idle mixture should be unscrewed 3/4 - 1 turn. Is there a reason you go a full 2 turns?

    Great vids, but just a note. If you're working on a 71 with the 3D carb there are no orings or washers. I went out to get some thinking they were missing and it really messed up my carb tuning.

      Thanks for mentioning this! I figured mine were 'lost' by a P/O and was confused for a few minutes when I couldn't get the o-ring+washer stack to fit in there.

    Youre constantly an invaluable resource. Thank you. Any idea why the diaphram wouldnt move at all? When I remove the chrome cap and blow it seems to react just fine, i watch the diaphram expand. However when the cap is on and I blow I get all resistance and no response.

    Thanks for sharing this!
    I've read that some of these carburetors (on earlier models) didn't come with the washer/o-ring installed. Can you confirm this? I know that my carbs on my '73 cl350 (722A) did not have the washer/o-ring in them. What, if any, differences would I encounter? Bike seems to run "fine", but then again I don't know how it would perform if I had the washer/o-ring in the air mix screw.

    If my carburetor leaks through the bowl vent, but isn't overflowing throug the overflow pipe, does that mean my float height off? I set the float height on both carburetors the same (as per manual), but only my right carburetor leaks through the vent...

    • @Common-motor
      @Common-motor  Před 3 lety +1

      Message our support with some photos and we can help you out further! I'd imagine maybe you have a combo issue of overflow pipe clogged and either needle not turning of the fuel or maybe a leaky float that needs to be replaced.

    i was told the SL350 carb boots are different. Same engine and carbs, why would they be different.

    • @Common-motor
      @Common-motor  Před rokem

      The first generation SL350 was the same just with different jetting, second 2 later generations (K1 & K2) used a slide carburetor. Actually ran different camshafts, a different head cast with smaller intake ports, and many other changes.

  • @MCarm69

    When you blow into the slide is it supposed to come back down by itself?

    • @TokyoChopSquad
      @TokyoChopSquad Před 5 lety

      Sorry this is late. You do need it to come down. If it doesn't then it gets flooded with fuel

      We don't offer rebuild services, we do however offer pretty much everything you would need to do it yourself (which is kinda our whole thing.) Here is a page for all of the parts we sell that are related to carbs : www.common-motor.com/search.asp?keyword=carburetor&search=
      Be sure to read the full product description, installation tips, and the compatibility chart for each product before purchase; and hit us up via email if you need any support along the way.
