    1. Locate the "learn code" which is typically located near the antenna of the opener.
    2. Press and release "Learn Code" LED indicator will blink twice. Press and release the button on the remote you want to program. The led dictator on openner will flash or glow steadily (this varies by model). Press the same remote button again, the LED indicator will go out.

I tried with two remotes with new batteries pressing three times with gap in the middle. It still didn't work. The flashing red light finally goes off automatically after 30 seconds or so.

Sorry to hear that, what brand is your opener?

Some remote openers need you to be about 6-10 feet away from the door opener unit when you push the button on the remote both times to lock in the code . Other openers need to be less than 1 foot away from the unit . Also when my remotes get wonky i chuck them and get new ones . I cant confirm but I think remotes have built in cycle to fail like 5000 cycles and they die .

My Genie garage door model G5050 doesn’t have the learning button. 1993-1995. The new remote’s are a generic brand.

Do you know how to program a Genie remote from another Genie remote? Button built into my car works but I lost the handheld remote. GDO is on 2nd home several hrs away so can't access that.
