I mean, honestly, the Book Of Prayer is where I'd say the OP was. I used that bastard to beat the dragon Andraste with nothing but a ashen bow and minor injury kits. Fight, lose 3 of 4 team mates, use book, rezz everyone, rinse and repeat.
30 minutes it took me, but I never once had a full party wipe cos of it. (I did do the fight with JUST an Ashen bow before I had the DLC, but that took an hour of no-skills sniping and about 300 minor injury kits).

Honestly surprised not to see the N7 Typhoon from the original Mass Effect 3 here, since it was part of a DLC pack. Not for the player, its recoil and weight debuffs are way too much for the player. However if you give it to Garrus, spec him into pure assault rifle damage, give him an extended barrel and swap out his outfit for one that does increased weapon damage so he gets a 220% DAMAGE BUFF he can more or less solo the entire game. You get made into the side character of your own story. Look up Garrus Ascends to Godhood for proof of this, it still works in the remaster.

One of my favorite game breaking expansions (predated DLC) was Tribunal for Morrowind. Dark Brotherhood assassins start attacking you as early as the first time you sleep, assassins who are tuned to be beatable at whatever level you currently are and wear the second best light armor in the game. Said armor is way better than anything else you would have access to at the start of the game and is valued around 3000 gold a set. And they just keep delivering it to you.

Fun fact: There is, in fact, nobody named Dave in Fire Emblem. But, considering that every game introduces several dozen new characters, it's really only a matter of time before they'll end up naming someone Dave. Or at least David.
Speaking of Fire Emblem, every single game in the series that's gotten DLC has had its difficulty completely borked by the DLC. Either by giving you overpowered characters, weapons, and items, or simply by letting you get more exp and money than you should have at that point in the game.

On top of that, Urshifu’s signature moves Wicked Blow and Surging Strikes ALWAYS crit, meaning you can’t set up a defense against it or weaken its attacks. If you don’t run an Urshifu in your competitive team, you play with a handicap.

One of the shocking finds on my last Fallout 4 playthrough was a Nocturnal Disciples Blade drop from a legendary raider in the main area of Fallout 4. Its base damage was on par with that of the sledgehammer (because legendary drop), yet it is ridiculously fast. With a melee build (especially stealth melee), you can one-shot even the highest level creatures in the glowing sea. All while being super light and super fast. The Disciples Blade is from the Nuka World DLC, and its base damage is only slightly lower than that of the sledgehammer (20 vs 23).

These give you a selection of rental pokemon and challenge you and a team of 3 others to beat 4 raids in a row, with the last being a legendary pokemon. I know the talk is about the DOA's gifts, but you want to talk about OP, my first play through of the base game, my character died at the end. I loaded the major expansion Awakening and it used her, and when Alistair came to the fort, his first words were, "Weren't you dead?" I set him up to be king, cause I was playing a spell caster, and as king he didn't feel right about the relationship as his queen needed to be of noble blood. And I refused to help Morgain to get impregnated by Alistair. To be fair, DA2 does have them as different people. In my mind, Morgan turned to someone else at that time, or managed to talk Alistair herself into the act while I slept. But she remained close till the end, and it is possible for people to go into a comma and appear dead, and medieval doctors would assume the worst and burry them. So I ignored DA2's seperation of the warden between the main and DLC when the time came.

Dawnfang/Duskfang was very OP in Oblivion. It swapped to a "fresh" levelled version of the other blade during the day/night cycle. This meant you had a weapon which:
    a) ignored the game's equipment degradation (every sunset/sunrise it went back to 100%)
    b) refilled its charge twice a day without cost - and the enchantments are actually pretty good to boot
    c) levelled with the player so you always had the strongest version of the weapon for your level and at level 30+, its the strongest sword in the game...
You really need no other weapon if you get this early - which you easily could at any level as its a reward for the 2nd DLC quest.

Fire Emblem Engage also ends up getting busted in single player with its DLC. The DLC introduces Emblems, a critical part of the game that dramatically boost anyone with one... And the DLC lets you get seven of them after a couple missions, where you'd only have three, so it over triples your emblems, and makes most of the game a breeze.
Something similar happens later in the game too, because eventually, you're supposed to lose a half dozen emblems and collect them all over again... but instead of having none (or the two it gives you when it drops your other emblems) you instead have nine.
All in all, the DLC trivializes the first two-thirds of the game, which is a shame, because those emblems are cool and add a lot of special effects and unique tactics, but just make things overtly easy just for the fact they exist in a game that is trying to balance itself based on the number of emblems you "should" have at the time.

Get one shot by that DLC crossbow? The whole notion of watching friends and family suffer and die in the ruined remnants of society probably sounded better back in the days before 2019/2020.
On the plus side, I don't think I've ever performed better in an online PVP game before or since, so I guess I just needed the proper incentive...?

Damn. It wasn't just the guns, the two DLC characters were absolutely outrageous! Gage's abilities could buff her damage by 800% while reducing her accuracy just as much, but also gave every shot that missed a 50% chance to ricochet and home in on an enemy. You didn't have to aim, and you were doing 400% the damage output of the rest of your team. Plus her shields topped up with every kill. And Krieg? Get his health low enough and he could enter badass psycho mode, which refilled his health *and* the cooldown of his psycho mode. He exits psycho mode, and then immediately re-enters it when he's hurt, looping indefinitely. Unkillable. Boring even. Either of those characters could solo the game's raid bosses without much trouble

The weapon? It was a squeaky hammer sold on April 1st. People thought it was a prank, but no. They just messed the damage types and could do insane damage to armor instead of nothing at all (bar make annoying squeaking noises). So for awhile, one guy with a literal clown toy could solo an aircraft carrier that took an outfit almost a week to craft.

The three downloadable items for Just Cause 3, you will be able to wipe out an entire town in under five minutes with them. The items are a jet pack that comes with rockets and machine guns. A mech vehicle that allows you to pick up pretty much anything or anyone you want (except buildings) and throw them into the horizon or there's a version that comes with a mounted machine gun which is also one of the more manoeuvrable vehicles in combat situations. Lastly a lightning gun and I don't mean the kind that when you shoot it will chain through multiple enemies I mean like a blast from a satellite that you can guide to targets destroying pretty much anything in your path. And on top of that if you go through the upgrade challenges they become even more powerful allowing for longer periods of damage.

for minor context on why android 21 was so dominant in her comman grab, it wasn't just that the debuff lasted for the entire match, it's the fact that it was a 21% damage debuff, removing 1/5th of your power which absolutely gutted some characters that rely on high damage to carry subpar kits, then ontop of that she herself gained 21% additional power on all her specials including assists.

The reaper mech add on allows you to summon a mech at the very beginning of the game which is insanely broken and with minimal skill can solo any of the military bases in the game, and the sky heist during the first mission gives you the bavarium wingsuit which, if you have actually played jc3 you will know is stupidly busted as it gives you a rocket which quickly recharges and a machine gun which can kill any enemy out of a vehicle in about half a second.

Extra quests that reward party member affection, multiplied experience points, and bonus copies of the limited stuff you need for the True Ending? Boost the level cap from 99 to 999? A broadsword slightly less powerful than the best one in the base game but without any speed penalties? Their RPGs were made to be broken by themselves for profit.

He's so strong he's flat out banned from several competitions, even ones that ban literally no other characters.
I'm not exaggerating when I say a new, massively game-breaking issue is found bi-weekly by people who main him, setting Twitter on fire with waves of complaints that barely have time to die down before it all begins again when *another* tech is found less than a month later.
He's been a constant sore spot for the game, and hasn't stopped getting new, insane kill-confirms since release.

That labcoat story reminded me of Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. It was a fun fighter game that sadly suffered from too little support and balance to really get the ball rolling, and one of the nails in the coffin was the DLC inclusion of Kat & Dusty, the protagonist from Gravity Rush and her cosmic kitty. There were a few undeniably strong characters in the base game but it says something when tier lists made for the game included a 'Kat-tier' way at the top.
