Yes! She needs more love.
But I would like to add that while largely a protector, some of her servants might paint a different image. She had these demons called "Empousa" under her service, which were basically vampires with hair made of flames, one donkey leg, and one prosthetic leg made of bronze or brass (other descriptions exist, but this seems like the most common one). They use shapeshifting to seduce and feed on the blood of young men, and in some cases also ate their flesh.
The Horned King thanks for that bit of extra information, I have been wanting to know more about Hecate...
The Horned King uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Are you serious? It's sad if you are. It's okay to be religious or whatever you like to call it, but don't push your beliefs on other's. A good practitioner is one who doesn't throw there practice in other's faces.
Ok wtf is going on? I named my account after a Disney villain. Look up the movie The Black Cauldron.
Now I need to research "Empousa". They sound FABULOUS!
I've realized that most of the gods and goddess that are considered evil are merely misunderstood. They are selfless and caring and the gods that are considered great are nothing but envious and hateful beings
Preacchh
I think it's because people tend to have preconceived notions and base their opinions on those rather than researching in depth.
Not only that they all are dual bringing both dark and light, creates balance and authenticity. Of course like you said unfortunately people only concentrate on there “evil” side rather then them as whole
A lot of the "great" ones were worshipped because of their immense power, I believe. Ex: Hera and Zeus were painted as very vengeful, so they worshipped mainly out of fear
I imagine the dissonance between modern and ancient morality is just never accounted for
Why would anyone find it sad that she had no children or husband? She had her dogs. That's more than enough.
E M I have no kids. I have two black dogs and I live at cross road. All before she called me
Some say Circe, Medea and Calypso were her children and she had a consort Hermes.
I mean to be fair, she could have been sad about it. She also may have been fine like many women without children or husbands.
@@angelacooper8973 I have read that too.
I really like her. I think wiccan and pagan stuff is really interesting . I made my own runesets and i believe in spirits and stuff. I really like that she also shows that it is possible to be happy without a husband
Lilith: It is I, the first witch.
Hecate: Btch, get out of my way.
Isis: How cute, both of you. I'm the sorceress supreme here.
Chew Xie Yang The Supreme : That’s cute.
Hecate is an Elder God though
So like I'm confused which one was the first witch between both Lilith and Hecate? 🤔
Lilith is more than a witch, thu hecate is an other story, don't compare them.
The main thing I've always taken from Hecate is her association with borders, doorways, thresholds, crossroads, liminal spaces. I feel really drawn to that because all my life I've felt like I'm neither here nor there - just hovering in the borderlands, never quite leaving, never quite arriving.
This is so poetic and beautiful!
@@anlicheng3405 thank you!
Yes this is so beautiful and poetic I did shed a tear or two. Thank you Jade Blessed Be.
I grew up in an ex mining town and spent 25 years travelling. I'm resting up right now and building a vehicle but, once my dad dies, I guess I'll be back on the road. I think I'll take her with me.
Same I feel it all the time and also like iM floating down, like the air is deep ocean. I can’t shake this feeling off
in my teens and very early 20's, my X at the time was a very devoted wiccan and always told me, "I know you work late hours but Hecate will always see you home and always safe", in my early 30's now I can feel this every time I go hiking or running in the woods with my 2 dogs, I never disagree when my dogs want to take a different path on a crossroads, no matter which way they take I always come home safe, I have grown closely connected with this goddess in my experience, you should always trust your dogs even if its short time or long time you will always discover something.
Blessed be to you and your dogs! 🙏🏼
Your X seems very wise (:
Good to hear. I hope that you have many long and happy years with your two dear dogs. I also say to trust your sixth sense when it goes off as well as your pets.
Truly inspiring
Well you are tereibly uneducated. Hecate is a fuckin demon that comes in the form of a beautful goddess. She decieves people through ouija boards and opens spiritual gates with in the mind when smoking psychoactive drugs. I feel bad for you.
She does have children! She’s the Mother of Witches 🖤💫✨
Yes 👍
Yes she is!
I'm her children 😁

Wish there were more stories of hecate.
@@leeannproctor2966 Me too. 😕
She was not only associated with the underworld, the night and the moon, she was also named by Zeus as ruler of the sky, the sea and the earth, liminal spaces or inbetweens, light and knowledge of herbs and poisons among the usual you've stated in your video.
Omoar: Crossroads deities tend to be associated with "liminal space" in which two worlds, nations, cultures and etc meet.
What?! When did Zeus say that?
Not only by Zeus but all the Gods
@@sirpuss333 I belive it was after the war with the titans, she helped the olimpian gods through it and Zeus wanted to repay her. He also created the lampades (underworld nymphs) so that they would be her companions and protectors. I havent found the specific reason why he felt she deserved all this, so I guess she was extremely helpfull?
Yassss!!! This is so important, because for us who understand; we know that when the olympians were born, they acquired their powers from those who came before them. Hekate is the mother of all and her power reveals itself through the other Gods/Goddesses, meaning she is always there.
Hecate is a very popular Goddess amongst modern-day pagans and Occultists such as myself.
Lord6of6the6Blackmoon she is reincarnated now as are many of the gods , angels and even the "fallen"... I dint like that word but it is what they call them selves so...
Yas
I like Hecate, I think I will pronounce her as he-cate instead of He-ka-Tay, it sounds a lot cooler. Her name or existence should be appreciated often as possible, she’s just too awesome!
Lord6of6the6Blackmoon Chalázi Hecate!
I pray to her all the time... xoxox

@@merongirma33 I like them both because I feel like she one sister wouldn't make sense without the other
Awwww. She had animals friends
She is a sweetheart indeed. ♥
She is incredible. She has my heart forever. It is said that she took care of the neglected and unwanted, she is an incredible protector you truly don’t want to mess with. She is such an incredible beautiful Goddess and she deserves more love ❤
I like this goddess in particular because, like her, I am drawn to those who are different. The more angry, scared, and damaged they are, the more compassion I have for them. Animals as well. I particularly love cats.
I prefer dogs over cats.
An Empathetic Heart-Wounded Soul: You must be crazy about Satan then.
This honestly me, it just seems more preferable to be with people like those then normal
I'm more of a bird-person
Well witches you have an empathetic personality and drawn those who are damaged that’s quality of the witch
One of my favorite, lesser known Goddesses. Underrated and unknown, I think she is misunderstood due to Abrahamic religions portraying her as evil. Nyx, Thanatos, and the rest of the Primordials are among the underappreciated Gods of Greek mythology. You should make one about Nyx and her children. Zeus even fears angering her because she could engulf the world in darkness.
Jose Mendez zeus fears all the primordials ..... anything that cant be harmed by lightning is feared by him.
and pissing off Nyx is NEVER a good idea
Nice, I like her even more now, yes, I agree men throughout history trying to oppress strong badass women. Go figure. Ugh.
@@Stricken-Zero the river Styx is named for Her. It was said if you swore on the river Styx you had to keep your oath or She would smite you. Zeus was terrified of Her as She had the power to make Gods keep Their vows. So long as it was sworn in Her name.
The one all the gods fear, including Nyx is Chaos aka the void. It is the true primordial entity and is truly omnipotent.
I love that Hecate adopted her animals instead of going to a breeder. I appreciate learning more about her.
I love how important she is to the Wiccan religion, blessed be.
This is not jugdement but mere curiosity. Are wiccans ethical or have evolved past acts of sacrifices? I wasn't pure or clean and still am not in subtle ways and intents. I ask this because during my awakening, I was shown how my actions contributed to all my suffering and pain therefore I am very cautious and keep my discretion on my choices. However, I am withholding all my judgments on other people's choices and beliefs. What say you lol
hjdkj kkk neopagans especially wiccans are actually ethically concerned. It’s part of our religion to harm none (that’s why some are vegetarians). Some people take this literally and accept this. It’s part of wiccan beliefs to honor nature, so it wouldn’t be a thing a Wiccan would do. I hope this helps.
I'm a mutt in my religion. continually adding to my spiritual rituals and to my life. Wicca has something to offer, that's for sure.
Shes a fuckin demon you stupid moron. Go read a book called forbidden gates.. youll learn a lot. You have no clue what witchcraft really is you child. Youll desteoy your life if you start messing with evil entities that come as beautful goddesses. Get educated kid
Not a demon. Not an angel, not a lovey dovey character by any means but like a lot of gods and goddesses her persona loves herself a lot! lol
Goddess of the Odd ones.
Huh. No wonder I'm drawn to her.
Same here....I've always found Hecate more fascinating than the other Greek Deities, because she is unique.
Oreon Peregrino and patron of the downtrodden, cast outs by society.... That's why I always give homeless peeps even just a bit of change....she likes that.
Shes such a beautiful soul. Since I got in touch I keep catching myself reaching out just to have the conversation lol might have to wait till i drop this vehicle to "see" her but shes got the air of a very very VERY beautiful woman. Just throwing that out there haha
YES SAME! ♥️🌼

Do men not love or follow Hekate because I love her
my favorite goddess. she has a temple in Turkey, which I’d like to visit
I love hearing about these more nuanced, less smite-y Greek gods. We hear so much about Zeus smiting everyone and Hera being a vindictive bitch...it's nice to hear about the gods rescuing those in need and caring for those who are different as well.
Hecate was also worshiped at doorways...in Ancient Society they would place the letter "Y" above doors/pathways...it was believed that one would whisper praise to Hecate to make the best decision ...Right or left when passing through the pathway ..as Hecate was the goddess of Crossroads.
I love your description of Hecate. A lot of the people that I've talked to in my Mythology class have assumed that she is a cruel deity because of her connection to the afterlife, but you're right, she really is a benevolent Goddess. I just wish more people knew that and respected her power rather than fear it.
We r different don't waste your time or energy.

Can’t wait for her to be on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina!!😂😂❤️
Finally they are going to praise the real source )O(
She is
😭
I have always pronounced her name as you did (most of the time), although I have heard the other pronunciations online. Interestingly, there is also the Egyptian goddess Heqet (H'ket), who was their goddess of witchcraft. Since she predates Hecate by over 1,000 years, some have speculated Hecate's name was derived from Heqet. She was a frog-headed woman and one of the primordial deities of Chaos. She was mostly worshipped in the delta region of the Nile, where it is a swamp, but also had shrines and temples throughout the Nile River region. As consort of Khnum, ram-headed god of craftsmen, Heqet was also the goddess of fertility, birth and rebirth (Khnum crafted men on his potter's wheel; Heqet breathed life into them). As a witch, she could reanimate the dead.
She's another goddess misunderstood in today's time, just like Hades. Most of her persona seen in media makes her evil or conniving, which she is not. Thank you Disney's Hercules! 😒
Hades is my favorite. He isn't a cheater like the rest. He loves one woman, and does so for eternity. No one touches on that point.
Anzu Depend on the version
Geffrey Gamolo Wait Hecate was in Disney’s Hercules?
Andrew Ollmann Oh, That makes since, I only saw a few episodes of that show, but it’s representations of the Gods was painful. I remember seeing an episode where Nemesis was a demigod, and not a full minor goddess, and one that had Trivia( which I’m pretty sure is Hecates Roman form).
Dylan Tennant the TV series. She's after the throne of Hades. 😊
2:11 that crown... the torch... the robe... could that be... THE STATUE OF LIBERTY?!!?
Master_ Mudkipz the statue of liberty is Libertus, the Roman goddess of freedom.
hold it right there! i'm calling the thought police
Hekate Triformis it is spelled Libertas. now go away google.
Aaaaand that's why Clownpiece also has that design.
They claim it's Libertas, but it hardly looks like her. The statue is even placed at a crossroads between 3 geographical regions. I'm one of those tinfoil hat guys that personally believes it's really Hecate.
I absolutely LOVE and ADORE Hecate❤️ she’s my deity and mother❤️❤️
I just finished part 3 of chilling adventures of Sabrina and I remember that I saved one of your videos and wouldn't you know it, it's about the same goddess in which witches start to pray.🙂🙂🙂
She sounds like a nice goddess
Chevaughn Beecher she's an amazing goddess.
She is. She urges us to protect animals, specially stray dogs and cats. One of Her names is "Soteira", Our Saviour.

I love Hecate she is an amazing goddess. When he talking about devoting time to her on November 30th each year I thought it was going to be bad but it wasn't. I love the fact that people would adopt a dog or help those who were neglected and alone. She really is an amazing goddess. I think Hades and Hecate are my new favorite greek god and goddess.
Come to me Hekate,
Mother of Angels,
Cosmic World Soul,
Trioditis - With three forms and three faces,
Kleidouchos - Key-bearer,
Soteira - Our Saviour.
Mistress of witchcraft,
The far-reaching One,
Oh mistress Hecate,
Patron Saint of all stray Animals, Tender-hearted, Flower of fire, our kindly Guardian.
I call to Hekate, who stands at the crossroad, who stands at the city gate, who stands before my family’s home, to watch and to ward off evil. Bearer of torches, Leader of hounds, Holder of keys, Daughter of the deep earth and the starry sky, You tread upon the path less traveled; You walk, with certainty and without fear, in the dark night, in the wilderness, along roads most treacherous, among those who skirt the edges of order.
Hekate, friend of all animals, protector of your beloved, You know the perils of all the worlds, as each world is your realm to wander. Thus do You hold safe my home, thus do You bar the door from all ill, thus do You drive away the baneful and the false.
Hekate, compassionate goddess, I call to You.
Be kind to me, protect me from all harm and protect all these stray animals I love, your daughters and sons. Be our guardian against evil. Protect us from restless dead and other evil spirits.
Dear Hekate, be not restrained by my threshold, for my entire home is under your dominion. I invite Thee, Queen of the Night, Queen of all witches. I invite Thee to my home, to reside in this altar made for Thee.
Make me strong and cunning so I may defeat all my enemies at once.
Great mother Hecate, I call Ye forth
Gracious Goddess, Up above
Protect all these animals I love
Keep them safe and free from harm
At any danger, set off alarm
Keep them safely from here to there
Let no weather be no care
Circle of protection gather round
When danger comes hunting
They can't be found.
Beautiful
Where does this come from, please, it describes Her very well !
@@alexandralochouarn4411 It's a more ancient and sourced worship or honoring of Hekate from the old Greek Witches. It's the use of Epithets or 'Titles'. Hekate Kthonia is Localized English translated to "Hekate of the Dead/Underworld". She has many and they're essentially 'Words of Power' to tap into her magics. I'd look up Hekatean Witchcraft if you're interested in a more older based practice into her Devotion.
I'd like a mix of modern/past, there's a lot of pages and I 'd then choose what I feel attracted by. One must be at ease to practise.
@@alexandralochouarn4411 if you're looking for a mix, Cyndi Brannen is a teacher of Modern Hekatean Witchcraft. I'd start with her. She even has a recent book called Keeping Her Keys, a school, and a blog.

Hoooly shit! My friend Sheila is a wiccan. We don't speak or hang out as much as we did in high school, but every November 30 she goes and volunteers at an animal shelter on 8th street. I believe... going on 10 years now. I never thought to ask her, why that particular day. Just thought it was a day she just picked and stuck with it. Woooow... Thanks!
Speedy Gunz ok so what does it have to do with hecante?
All that time his friend was worshiping/honoring Hecate and he didn't know it is the point he was trying to make.
Isn't Wiccan follows the goddess Wicca which is known as the Mother Goddess?
Can also be another name to Ashera, the wife of Yahweh in Jewish or old Babylonian mythology. Who's also known as mother of all angels. 😁
+Geffrey Gamolo Nah! Wiccan just means Witch so we commonly worship the goddess of Witchcraft Hecate
Geffrey Gamolo Wiccans actually follow any pantheon or pantheons that speak to them.
I tip my Witchy hat to you Sir you really did your research quite thoroughly and I enjoyed the video. As devout worshiper of Hecate I can say I am impressed with how you explained what she is all about. Many blessings to you )O(
Many thanks for these gentle insights. I love the archetypal element of Hecate within the divine feminine. This inspires me to honour and value the gentle aspects of the physic abilities that help nurture and care for the neglected. I am not surprised to learn she is connection with the moon and dogs. Love Love Love. Thank you once again.
Another piece I learned about Hecate was that she held a somewhat similar role to Cerberus. While Cerberus had the duty of preventing the souls of the dead from leaving the Underworld, Hecate would prevent the living from entering into the Underworld. Though the story of Demeter and Persephone stands as an exception to this rule.
In the research I've done, I've come across something of a debate as to whether Hecate was really childless. Some argue that she was, while some argue that she may have been the mother of Circe. I haven't looked into the arguments enough to draw my own conclusion though.

I was looking for pronunciation guidance, so was very pleased to find how thoroughly you addressed that at the beginning. Thanks!
Hecate is such an interesting and loving goddess that why did they gave her the title the goddess of kindness and mercy
Umm no her power isn't rooted in sappy love, she is comforting but she can also tap into darkness unlike Aphrodite or other friendlier deitys.
rav; You got that right. Romantic love can have a very dark side to it.
Thank you for making this and showing the factual compassionate core of the goddess!

Omg THE WAY ITS PRONOUNCED IN GREEK !!!! IT SOUNDS SOO GOOD 😭💕
I had no idea that Hecate had a positive side like caring for the abandoned and/or unwanted. I had the impression that Hecate was more nefarious and evil...great vid👍🤘
In Greek we pronounce her as e-KA-ti, the "H" in front of the name is actually an ancient Greek secondary intonation (δασεία) which, in the English transliteration becomes the letter H. I love your analysis- Ekati is one of my favorites along with Hades - another greatly misunderstood God. Thank you!
That's how I was told to pronounce it but with the 'H'.
In Hinduism, we have "shakti". She is also a tri-formed goddess. Saraswati, lakshmi & kali are her three forms.

There are reasons why we follow and feel the way we do about certain mythical Gods and Goddesses. Some speak for us. They speak to us and we honour that. Hecate speaks to me in everything I do. I'm not a Pagan or Wiccan follower but chose to be a witch. Eclectic, solitary. I believe that I was born into witchcraft. I tried other paths but none fit. Hecate is a source of strength. As always great job!
Perses (Πέρσης) meaning the radiant was the titan of the night time sky & Asteria (Αστερία) meaning "of the stars" or "like the stars" was the female titan of starlight. Their offspring is Hecate (Εκάτη) meaning "the one from afar" as an allusion to the titaness being able to affect or harm from afar. Her cult was stronger in Asia Minor mainly in the Hellenic city of Melitos. An epithet often used in greek was "τριτηα" meaning the triple. This alludes to the help she provided to the Olympians in their battle against the Gigantes (giants) and as a reward she was given authority over the three realms the primal Gods commanded, Heaven (Zeus), Sea (Poseidon) and the Underworld (Hades). As all titans related to light, (Perses, Asteria, Euryfaessa, Hyperion) had some oracular power so did she. All the above as primordial powers were related and invoked during witchcraft so was she. Being a lunar titan she helped Demetra find Persefone when all lights were out. When Persefone was not able to fully return to Earth she escorted her in the underworld. Sacred places to her were the places where three roads met. As a goddess of the underworld two kinds of sacrifices were offered: grains and food left as offerings on such places, and blood offerings of dogs as was done for Hades.
Rautha12 Perses was the destruction ..... right ???
+pic nic
Yes. Perses is derived from the Greek verb πέρθειν, meaning "to ravage" or "destroy."
She is portrayed as Protector of Animals, blood offerings of dogs would have enraged Her.
Lucho Portuano, i would say so i do recall a greek king who killed his virgin daughter as offering to Artemis.
Blood offering of dogs doesn’t really seem to fit. Maybe it could be interpreted that way in an instance where you had to show mercy to an injured dog, one less fortunate. But offering your energy (blood carries our energy) to help a dog in need would make more sense maybe? Like volunteering at a shelter, adopting, or fostering a dog.
Nice video! Hecate is my protector, and I always love these videos about her. Good job!❤
Fantastic video! Hecate is one of my favorites in Greek mythology!

Can you do one of Apollo next! He is a very complex diety, and sometimes his powers are paradoxical which I think is very interesting.

I worship Hecate grately sir. You have done a great job on describing and telling about her. Thank you
Amazing content thank you for creating quality videos they never fail to impress.
Had no kids? Circe: "Do I mean nothing to you mortal?"
This was the only reason that I was scouring these comments, to see if anyone else would mention that--which, no one did, so thank you! A lot of people claiming her as their deity and apparently not knowing about Circe (?!), haha.
She is beautiful
Thanks for the videos. I'm new to the channel and a beginning pagan/Wiccan. Your videos are helping me decide on which, if any, deities I want to include/honor in my practice. Voice is very soothing also.
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for making it! I cannot find many more like it!
Yayyyyyy tha k you for answering my request!
