Thanks for the video. I bought an old somewhat abused JD 1025R with the older style backhoe that had been left outside for years. I could see how badly it was rusted around the support arm snap rings and one was leaking so I bought seal kits and set to work. It took days to clear away the rust, free up and remove the old snap rings yesterday. I bet the top piece is well rusted in place but I will get it out somehow. It was good to see a video of the seal replacement.
Thanks for the comment and hope the video helped! Just FYI, if you find the top collar is really rusted/pitted or any other parts needs to be replaced go to JD parts online and you’ll be able to order cylinder parts. Order from Green Parts Store and use TTWT code at checkout for free shipping.
Thanks for the tip about free shipping - I would go for it if I was in the US. International shipping is probably too much. Crazy prices for JD parts in New Zealand. The seal kits were about $600. The top collar is badly pitted on the exposed surface. I asked for a price for the top collar at the local JD dealership. It was about $400 NZ, so hopefully they will be re-usable.
@@pogs9833 gotcha, and wow that is expensive! I guess I’d try to wire bush and clean parts the best I could for that money. If you need any help along the way reach out and I’ll do the best I can to help out! Good luck!
Well done video. Good Explanation. The only thing I would do differently (after watching the video and getting hindsight) is wait until you get the internals out and slide the old snap ring off then put the new one on the shaft before reassembly.
@@barelystablefarm7151 I just did a video adding grip tape to my backhoe platform and worked around the bolts. When I was editing it I realized it would have been easier and work better to remove the bolts. 🤪
No, no need to disconnect the power beyond lines. The backhoe SCV valve will prevent any flow issues, just don't touch the outrigger lever and you'll be fine. Get a good pair of snap ring pliers also, my Vice Grip brand pliers were too small. Good luck and take you're time, you'll get it!

Thanks! Yes, I agree about the snap ring! Thought of that after the fact LOL!
