Ones, Twos, Threes, and Mixed Intervals Demo

- wanted to use the sybil kicking animation I made to make a demo of animation on ones, twos, and threes, as well as a mixed/full-limited animation. A bit sloppy 'cause I essentially used a filter, rather than manually keyframing each interval type.
For an overview of what I mean by ones, twos, and threes, I recommend Doodley's video on "choppy" animation - • Why is "Choppy" Animat...
Sybil is from Pseudoregalia - rittzler.itch.io/pseudoregalia
Animated using Goo Engine for Blender 4.1 - • Goo Engine is AVAILABL...
Music is "Chaotic Bar" from Phantasy Star Online. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Looks good. Solid keyframes, smooth smear frames. This is pretty clearly some fetish fuel but you at least took the time and effort to make it look good and I appreciate that.
What's wrong with fetish fuel :(

WHAT
Ur right 😭
No it's not, it's the main character from the video game Psudoregalia
The tail straightening out as counterbalance is an incredibly nice touch
Came here because Sybil, left with nice-looking animation
Just like how everyone discovers pseudoregalia lmao
@@twotimesj6478 unironically i learned about pseudoregalia from an nsfw artist i follow.
its a good game.
@@oscarlove4394 same lmao
@@twotimesj6478You disgusting freaks (Sauce?)
To my untrained eye, mixed seems to have the greatest balance between smoothness and sense of impact
Her name is sybil end she is from Game pseudoregalia and she is my favorite goat
You should play Outer Wilds. Collect more goats.
and she's SO FRICKIN FAST

I like how when they're kicking, the rest of her body struggles for balance while her head tries to stay focused on what's in front of her
where do you see the struggling for balance?
@@pasatebo The arms and upper body react to the leg movement. It's subtle
@@RedBloxStudios doesnt look like struggling to me, just technique :\
@@pasatebo Oh okay
I click a vid with pseudoregalia thumbnail I get telepiped in the face thank you very much
what the fuck does that even mean
@@hadrian2801 It's a town portal item from the game Phantasy Star Online, when you use a telepipe and get back to town and go to the item shop you listen to the music in this video
@@hadrian2801I just wanted to know what the different frames look like and then there these weird people in the comment section
@Faust333
Same. Soon as I heard Chaotic Bar, I knew someone else would get the nostalgia hit.
What eldritch language is this?
Just wanted to say the level of kick ramps up so dramatically with each consecutive strike I love it.
Also pseudoregallia is awesome
I am not proud to admit that I was looking at something entirely different.
Tell me it is tail
@@realznos1625 Its cool how it straightens out.
Don't worry, the animator had to look at it so long they probably resent it
How you even was able to watch at something else with legs like this?
@@Jedai_Gamescake is cake dude
Really impressive. Something cool to mention is that a lot of animations are draw with the intent of using a specific frame timing, so they are usually tailored to the time, and look best at those frame intervals.
Personally biggest fan of animating on 2's with this animation. The mixed version looks a little odd, and on 3's looks too stilted.
Got that Phantasy Star Online music going.

Very cool, very interesting, but I'd be lying if I said Sybil didn't immediately catch my attention.
I HEAR PHANTASY STAR MUSIC I COME
haven't heard this song in a hot minute thanks for the throwback and your work is great!
Gotta be honest, It took me a while to notice a difference between right and left. (Also.. PSO music, surprise nostalgia)
Same.still looking lol. I think it's the amount of "motion blur" or whatever
@@cavemanpretzel9520 the difference between them is the choppiness of each animation. Ones is the smoothest, threes is the choppiest, twos is right in the middle. Mixed uses ones for the first kick, twos for the second kick, and threes for the third kick. It's admittedly pretty subtle, but makes a very big difference for impact
EDIT: the choppiness of each animation is caused by removing certain frames, in case you were unaware.
@@cavemanpretzel9520 Play it at .25 speed and you will see the difference.
Thank you for the PSO music, really gets my nostalgia pumping to hear that soundtrack.
Awesome work! Going straight into my animation inspiration folder!
Fantastic animation, great smears and smooth movement!
Great job!
Your animations are incredibly sick!!
the PSO music caught me off guard
Sybil my beloved ❤
This looks really good! Good frames for players to see clearly, nice snappy but weighted kick animation, nice work 😊
Very good demonstration of temporal resolution, and how omitting frames can speed up and make motion more impactful and clearer!
You had me at the animation, but then you had me again at PSO music
THIS LOOKS AWESOME AAAAHHHHHHHHHH
What a cool demonstration!
Feels like a pseudoregalia devlog ngl
Quality music choice
Came here for the animation, stayed for the animation AND the PSO music. 👌😌
Classy Choice of music.
The PSO music though. Good taste.
mixed is awesome looking
Mixed looks really nice
This is really cool
pseudoregalia, AND some cool animation stuff
heck yeah 😤
god i love pseudoregalia you have no idea
I've always liked mixed framing, even if it happens briefly, because it lets the animator speed up and slow down certain actions for emphasis and impact.
a very bright demonstration of why higher fps ≠ better results
tell that to people uploading AI upscaled openings

We've been *trying.*
Up to matter of opinion. I generally don’t enjoy the visual style of frame-holding at all, for instance (unless dynamic is done well, like here.)
@@brumbogetbrum2714
I think it's less that fewer frames is inherently good, and more that having fewer frames is a constraint that lets you focus more on punchy animation and strong keyframes.
If you have all the time and resources in the world, you're probably not going to do *worse* with more frames, but if you're working on a limited budget, fewer frames means you can commit to giving each frame and the space between them the attention they deserve.
That, and lower frame rate can cover up any mistakes or jank in the omitted frames, even if frame rate is artificially limited.
I do personally just like the way limited FPS animation looks, but I think there's something there _other_ than personal taste too.
@@brumbogetbrum2714 this video is a filter, its not even manual keyframing lol
4 looks so cool
Sybil really is the goat of all time
Indeed some fine "assets" of animation to be seen here XD
Id say that the good animation we see in stuff like spiderverse and puss in boots and this, not from twos or threes or mixed or anything, but more from how they get from each keyframe, and working on 2s and threes and such put you into that mindset of making every keyframe count
Pseudoregalia!! Cool framerate demonstration!
Personally I'm a baggy pants sybil fan, she looks so cool.
Welp this has reminded meof pseudoregalias existence, gonna re play it.
Haven't touched it since it dropped really, gonna go check out the speedrun tech/movement to see if people are way more consistent w it/ any new tech.
holy shit sybil, i love pseudoregailia
This is help to learn for animation beginners.
Good to explain how to do. 👍
I love them. Still one of the best metroidvanias today.
Great animation!
Honestly, the twos animation looks the best to me because it has an almost comic book action to it. All it's missing is some squashing and stretching.
The one animated on ones looks the best
... Sorry what were we talking about? I was busy staring ...
Havent heard this song in so long i completly forgot about Phantasy Star Online
i really love the mixed, it looks so punchy and forceful. it his super duper hard. all of these look really great though!
I actually dig the "two" version, low keyframes usually dont do much but i think it expresses the emotion of the animation more than the smooth one
Love how her ear flops. Very cute
SYBIL MY BELOVED
Looks pretty good on a side note SMASH
very nice
I got recommended this animation then soon realized its also a game
WE LOVE SYBIL AND PSEUDOREGALIA, RAHHHHH
Mixed is always my favourite but then I am a sucker for freeze frame shenanigans and such to help imply the extra force behind impacts and stuff.
Imagine a psuerdorgalia shaders mod with this kinda texture and lightwarp...so amazing
Honestly i like twos best, the jankiness is just enough that it feels fast blend naturally
that's frame timing babey
Whats the dofference between all of them??????
Can someone explain?
I am confusion
It’s the amount of frames per second, it’s hard to tell the difference between a lot of them if you don’t know what you’re looking for though, I definitely can’t tell with some of them cause I’m not an animator
1 ones means the movement changes every frame of the 24 frames in a second. On 2s, every second frame changes so it's essentially 12 frames per second and so on. In stop motion or drawn animation for example it's up to animator to decide on which frames they choose to create a new movement.
That's fucking sick mate
The color tones reminds me of a specific angel that came from a Bloody game where theres a blue robot and a nickel
oooh the tail jerking back when she kicks is really neat! friendly reminder that tails are used for BALANCE
"I may not have aa brain, gentleman. But i have an idea"

Ah yes, this is some phantasy star online music!
came for the thumbnail 😊
came to the animation 💀
I subbed and this was my first video seen by ur channel … for …. Other reasons
It makes you wonder what type of abilities she could have if she wasa on a fighting game
Animation geeking out? Yes. Pseudoregalia? Yes and yes. PSO Music, too? All the neurons, they're activated.
I love how springy the tail is lol
ahh yes phantasy star music
yeah, as i thought, mixed has the best impact in motion, and other two are just satisfying to look at. i always preferred dynamic fps to static😌😌
Mixed looks more like old school anime which I approve of.
PSO music, blessed
Twos was peak imo
finally a sight for sore eyes!
hell yes
1s is obviously the nicest to look at. All of them can benefit from motion blur, IMO, and to beat the drum that I always do, having the baseline be 30fps instead of 24 is an order of magnitude better without losing the aesthetic feel, too. 30fps on 2s is equal to your "mixed" version aesthetically, and when you add other effects like motion blur (including artsy "2d animation" stuff like smear frames and whatnot) it's even better.
If I had the money, I'd literally pay to have studios start making stuff in base 30, both for animation and live-action films and series.
I only just know realized they’re talking about frame count, I thought I was just blind cause I was looking to see if the character got more kicks.
Damn, imagine if Pseudoregalia had actual combat with kicks
PSEUDOREGALIA IS AWESOME!!1!!!1!!
I'd be lying if I said I was looking at her kicking.
the tail go ➡⬅➡➡↙🔄🔃↪↔↔↕↙➡➡⬅
You should make the leg thats on the ground be a litle bit far behind on a diagonal because she looks like she is about to fall backwards when she kicks because of the force
The differences feel like regular heavies and charged heavies NGL
oh my god pseudoregalia AND signalis animations on one channel??
sybil *drools*
surely make this an animation mod for the game
I like Sybil
Gyat damn!
I know for sure this is about the amount of frames in the animation, more specifically, for how long you hold certain frames, but I still barely see it despite the fact that I know what to look for, lmao
