It is never too late to dive into Bowies work. He amazed generations of people over decades with his creativity and live performing qualities. One of a kind.
Bowie is magnetic...he wrote great songs and changed it up every few years. You could never be bored with Bowie.... He's released hit albums in 6 different decades..the most successful artist in rock ...
rest in peace major Tom ♥️
she's a boring grifter. Needs to work harder to convince me she really cares. She doesn't . Its about the money Dull , dull , fuckin' dull.
It was a very sad day when we lost Bowie. Such classy gentleman.
David Bowie and Freddie Mercury Under Pressure is a great collaboration! Two Icons at the same time!😉😆😎
I was going to mention this one as well! Check it out, Biss.
@@iDEATH Hi JPP, Sadly Bowie and Queen who all co-wrote the song "Under Pressure" never sung it in public. However, there is an excellent video that used a fusion of two separate performances by the two artists. Bowie played it (with Annie Lennox) at the Concert for Freddy after his death in 1991, plus Queen played it at their Wembley Queen show in 1986, the following year after the Live Aid Concert.
The video producer did an excellent job of fusing the two together and since the Bowie performance with Annie Lennox was performed with the remaining members of Queen, it looks as if it was all together. (But you can spot the different clothing worn) Annie Lennox was deleted from the performance and Freddy and his voice inserted.
The recorded ( album ) version is best as it has them together. And the official Queen video for it is good.
you like Bowie collabs?? check out Bowie/Crosby collab on The little Drummer Boy.
already have a long time ago, absolutely one of the best 😎
Bowie has TONS of great music. He's a rabbit hole of fantastic music for sure.
Bowie was amazing. A true artist…and a great and kind human being. He not only did great music, he acted and painted. I have a self portrait of Bowie above my fireplace. ☮️❤️
Amazing ❤️
I was 23 at the time, unfortunately we only saw the whole Live Aid concert on TV.
But it was fantastic.
The official music video is one of the most profoundly compelling gifts to humanity that I have ever witnessed. Words to describe: Intimate, arresting, alluring, charming, ethereal, magnetic, irresistable, capturing, hypnotic, mesmerizing, universal, hopeful, optimistic, reassuring, solidarity, uplifting...
You should see Bowie's performance at the Queen Aids benefit concert honoring Freddy Mercury in 1992. There were so many stars and bands singing and playing together.
In the song Bowie is dealing with his time he spent in West-Berlin and his thoughts about the Berlin wall. He actually recorded a German version as well.
David Bowie's "Modern Love" brings the sax if you are a saxophone fan ❤️
Some of his live sax from Tin Machine era is quite interesting.
Blue Jean is a good Bowie sax featuring song: czcams.com/video/NZnryZ5rDbs/video.html
The other must-see performance from Live Aid is U2. Keep in mind that they were just starting to become known, and were supposed to perform their latest single, Pride (In the Name of Love), which is a song you should also hear.
Also, you should also listen to the studio version of Heroes…
David Bowie is timeless music! Things to note: Bob Dylan's son, Jakob and his band The Wallflowers did a great cover of this song on the Godzilla (1998) soundtrack. Bowie on his last album Darkstar, did a song called "Girl Loves Me" done in the language of A Clockwork Orange.
Thanks for the interesting information!
And also on The Replacement movie soundtrack starring Keanu Reeves and Gene Hackman
Blackstar ( SMH )
@@treetopjones737 Great album!!!
David Bowie - Ashes To Ashes , my favorite song ♥️
Bowie's an icon! You might not have got it from just this performance, but throughout his career he was a chameleon that went through different looks and sounds that are all pretty unique. I'm sure others will fill you in, but you definitely should dig deeper.
Now that you're doing Bowie, and you've already done Aurora, you have another really good "who did it?". Aurora does a really great cover of Bowie's "Life On Mars" from his Ziggy Stardust era. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the cover was used on the TV show Girls, which I think is what got her noticed, at least here in the US, and really catapulted her fame. And why I'm on the subject, you should watch "The Martian" for your movie channel.
The cover by Aurora of Bowie's "life on mars"is really awesome, great suggestion!!😊
David Bowie is one of the best artist of all time 🐐 check out Space Oddity, Life on Mars? Rebel Rebel, Fame, Let's Dance, Ziggy Stardust 🔥🤘🔥
David Bowie (1947 - 2016) was one of the most iconic British singers of his generation... he debuted in 1967 and was single-handedly responsible for creating the 70's "glam rock" scene, where he would dress androgynously and tease audiences w/ an image that was female-oriented... That also opened him up to rumors about his sexuality 😂 but for Bowie, it was part of his show... His songs have been covered by all genres of artists from Nirvana to Motorhead to The Cure to Garbage... and beyond... His "Ziggy Stardust" alter-ego personality was one of the most recognizable in music history.
For decades, David Bowie's career and music went through transformations over time and he found relevance in every decade... scoring hits in the 70's, 80's, 90's... David Bowie passed away in 2016 from cancer at age 69... he had released 26 studio albums in his lifetime.
Some of David Bowie's hit songs - "Let's dance"... 'Space oddity'... 'Suffragette city'... 'Young Americans'... 'Life on Mars'.
Glad to see u getting into Bowie. He played 4 songs during Live Aid and this was the last song. Songs I definitely recommend from him are Rebel Rebel, Let’s Dance, and Suffragette City among many others. Great reaction as always Biss. Hope to see more Live Aid reactions as well.
Did he also do Rebel Rebel together with his old friend Iggy Pop ?
@@norkannen not exactly sure
Queen, uniquely, put together a mini-full concert for their allotted 20 min ...and they moved thru it lovingly and amazingly entertaining too! Not a minute was wasted, i.e., fan emotions had no time to be bored, only needing to oooh and awwww and applaud! Folks just wanted it to continue. Bowie was fantastic too...in fact several acts got most competitive votes but I've read 'they' said Queen was the best.
Thank you so much for bringing back more Live Aid memories! Bowie is such a legend and is in my opinion one of the greatest musicians of all time, constantly re-inventing himself and his music. Bowie having to perform after the amazing Queen show must have been a challenge, but I think he did great. The studio version of Heroes is a fantastic song that brings me to tears every time I listen to it.
One of the other amazing performances of Live Aid is the one by U2 ... truly worth to watch and listen to.
Seeing you enjoying the music and the performance makes my day, every day! ~ Vals
Hi Bisscutie! This is bandmaidfanatl! Good to see you getting into Bowie. He is an acquired taste to some, but he was an absolute genius. Ahead of his time musically, socially, etc. I suggest for your personal consumption Changes and Let's Dance. And Pressure too, with Freddie Mercury. You may recognize the riff. 😉 And yes, they were first, and I think there may have been a lawsuit.
Absolutely amazing legendary performer, David Bowie and the band Queen were great friends and in the studio together, Freddie and Bowie collaborated with the legendary song Under Pressure this song was a huge hit, great reaction thanks 🙏
David Bowie was a legendary performer. With an infinite chameleonic reinvention ability. This is a rabbit hole that you really need to dive head first down.
If you want to see a different side of Bowie I suggest you check out Space Oddity
Great reaction bisscute I was there that day it was magical.loved bowie the man was genius
David Bowie was in an old childhood movie of mine that I love called "The Labyrinth". I definitely recommend this movie and the soundtrack is beautiful.
Oh?❤️
@@BisscuteReacts
Yes. It was my first time listening to Bowie. 😉
The greatest rock song ever, sung by the greatest rock star of all time. You should watch his full performance on that day: TVC 15, Rebel Rebel and Modern Love. He closed with Heroes but was meant to do another song but he selflessly dropped it to play a hearbreaking film made by Canadian TV about the famine in Ethiopia, set to the song Drive by The Cars.
That moment elicited more donations on the day than anything else. Here are some other Bowie magical moments: 'Ziggy Stardust' live 1973, 'Time' Glass Spider Concert 1987, 'Station to Station' Montreal Forum 1976, and Ashes to Ashes video and Jump They Say video.
The "very high note" is Thomas Dolby's synthesizer; the saxophone is just playing stabs to beef up the sound; it's not soloing.
David Robert Jones known professionally as David Bowie was not only phenomenal singer but a song writer and actor also. One of my favorite movies of his was Labyrinth from 1986.David Bowie was regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Get this the tickets for Live Aid at that time was only $35! You may want to check out Farm Aid in 1986. out thought Neal Young was my favorite.
David Bowie, The Duke, is too big to be true, I grew with his music superb!!!!
Better late than never
There were:
Live 8 in 2005. A repetition of Live Aid in 1985 with Pink Floyd and others
Freddie Mercury Tribute Show in 1991. 1 Billion watching on TV
Farm Aid in 1985 in the USA.
David Bowie is the reason why music is like it is hi make the ground to all modern music ❤️🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪❤️
In my opinion David was the most eclectic artist in music. At all stages he was great. My favorite album is Space Oddity.
i was never a big fan of bowie... but space oddity is a masterpiece....
There are really only two artists or groups that had the stature to have followed Queen, David Bowie who was a musical genius or possibly the Rolling Stones who could work the crowd as well as Freddie Mercury. Especially on that day, as Queen literally stole the show. I amazed myself that day as I said when Queen took the stage that they had that concert and it proved to be true. There were a lot of other good bands, but not that many great bands and artistes. A fantastic day which prompted me to give nearly half my weeks wages to the charity
Freddie Mercury was a brilliant singer and front man, arguably the best........but David Bowie was a genius! Re-invented himself over and over again. A huge regret is that I never saw Queen or Bowie live, but if I could go back in time and choose one gig it would 100% be David Bowie!
One of the greatest song ❤️ bowie
I would love you to do more reactions of live aid!!! There are so many performances that are simply amazing... Ultravox, Phil Collins, Madonna, U2 etc...
The thing you have to remember about Live Aid is the acts had little time to prepare, no soundchecks, they just got on stage, plugged their stuff in and went with it. No-one could match the set Queen did that day, Freddie was electric, but Bowie definitely nailed his set and the message behind the song "Heroes" was a perfect fit for the occasion. I don't think there has been anything that was on the same scale as Live Aid, there have been some similar events but nothing can top Live Aid, it was literally a Who's Who of the music world at the time, but even with all the great acts that performed, Queen were the stand-outs. As far as Bowie is concerned he went thru so many phases during his career, where he re-invented himself time after time. For me his best songs are "Life on Mars", "Starman", Sorrow" and "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars".
So pleased you got round to watching DB’s set from Live Aid. I hope you watched Modern Love right after this which is a brilliant performance 👏👏
I love to see young guys discovering the great music from the 80’s 😃
Heard this song the first time on the german remake series "Der Club der roten Bänder". One of the rare german shows which is actually really good, sad and intense. i can recommend it. ;)
ah, its the live aid concert. Then, reaction to U2 with "Bad" is not far away hm? :D
have a beautiful day, Bisscute :) (as U2 would say) :D
Loved watching you check out this gem.
Even before (if) you decide on checking out more from this concert, it would be pretty cool to see you check out Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas. It's what started it all :)
- cheers
p.s. if you need some beautiful sax... please try Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street.
If you want to hear a Saxophone I might suggest Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band's Big Man Clarence Clemons. A lot of their songs together have a great Sax part with Jungleland being a Standout.
Agreed
Or even better, The Average White Band- Pick Up the Pieces and Cut the Cake.
Ohhh wow, huuuuuge flashbacks there to dancing round the living room to this lol. Obviously no one knew Queen would absolutely RULE Live Aid like they did but once they had, only another true tier 1 ICON like Bowie could possibly have followed them.
Live Aid was a truly unique event, it had never been even considered before. They tried 20 years or so later to replicate it with Live 8 but honestly that was so insignificant in comparison I can't even remember exactly when that was or name ANYONE who played it.
The other performance I would definitely recommend from Live Aid has to be it's opening act, a British Rock music staple of a band called Status Quo, with their version of Rockin All Over The World, there simply couldn't possibly have been any other song played to open this incredible show. It was ASTONISHING!
In this performance he had Thomas Dolby sitting in on keyboard. So the sax was pushed back. The keyboard is featured here and is not normally in the song.
At the time Wembley Stadium had a capacity of 100,000 for football,Rugby League & other sporting events & concerts around 85.000 but after 1989 the stadium capacity was reduced to 80,000 all seated for sports & about 75,000 for concerts.
Another great reaction 👍🏻 you must check out U2's performance at Live Aid .. especially the song Bad . Most people would agree it's only 2nd to Queen on the day.. if you watch the Queen set up can see all the U2 flags in the crowd.. they even put it in the Queen film as a tribute to U2'S performance.. I'm sure you would love it 👍🏻
that's when bono was dancing with an audience member!
yeah, he was a douchebag with that performance!
To get into David Bowie I would recommend Space Oddity, Starman and Rebel Rebel for the beginning.
I don't have a great recollection of Live Aid, since it was aired the year I was born.
The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert (1992) does have a great part, though.
It's me and my dad's "thing".
Queen & Bowie's (and other guys) versions of Under Pressure and All the young dudes?
That's quite something!
Thank you for paying attention you to this.
I love you for it....
Clare Hirst on sax. Watch her carefully through the video, she was so unassuming and lost in the moment. One of UKs underrated musicians (IMHO).
Bowie was nearly as awesome as Queen on the day, music royalty at the time.
Look for his performance with Annie Lennox at The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
Live Aid broke the mould, remember, everything was connected by wires. Many of which became disconnected at one time or another.
When you see lines of interference on the picture, that is caused by the raw volume messing with the video equipment.
u2 at Live Aid was epic
When I think of "Heroes" by David Bowie. I almost never think of the studio song, as wonderful as it is. I always think of this. This performance which changed the world. Also, his keyboardist on this performance, Thomas Dolby is a musical legend in his own right.
This was amazing ❤️
Another icon. Aldo had a couple of good movies. One of my favorite quotes he said in one of his movies "Mr. Rice's Secret". Quote was this
"All people no matter who they r. They all wish they appreciated life more. It's what u do in life that matters, not how much time u have left or wished u could have done."
Also not Aldo lol
Amazing song very classic by David Bowie thank you lady great reaction by the way in 1998 The band The Wallflowers made a great cover of this song for the soundtrack of the film Godzilla (1998)
Motorhead does a great Cover of this song
This song was written back when he was living in Berlin and was about two lovers stuck on opposite sides of the Berlin Wall
Oh?❤️
Please watch clips from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. Yes David Bowie played that day too. Many artist played that day.
For me is One of muy favorite song ever in my Life...
Great great song ever ...
Mr. Bowie.... Wooowww... No words for explain...all...
This os Amazing for me
Oh? ill keep that in mind ❤
Otger song of Bowie
Listen
Ashes to Ashes
Blue Jean
Fame
Listen this 3 doncs please...
Or more modern...
Afraid of Americans...
Its good song
Live Aid was an all day charity event that you place at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium, Philadelphia in the US. I doubt you can react to all of it, and to be perfectly honest the Queen set is the best remembered and even all the other acts thought were the best, hence they voted for them to come back and close the show. I remember watching some of the event when I was young but to be honest I don't remember much about it and I've only seen one or two sets since, U2, Queen, a few others.
One note about this song, Heroes, when Bowie was introducing his band and he mentioned the saxophone I thought you'd be disappointed. I wouldn't have recognised the sax in this song. Please check out more Bowie. His Ziggy Stardust stuff, Life on Mars, Space Oddity, Ashes to Ashes, Starman, Fame, Let's Dance, Changes, so many great songs, so much talent. He wasn't a Freddie Mercury, he wasn't an amazing singer, but his music stood out, a true genius and legend.
He wrote this song (whole album "Heroes") while living in Germany.
There would be no QUEEN without David Bowie
Ironically, perhaps the only concert that came close to this was the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. The other members of Queen, Bowie, Elton John, Axl Rose, Metallica, U2, Roger Daltrey from The Who, Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin, Liza Minnelli, Annie Lennox... I personally loved Extreme singing Love of My Life, but the generally perceived highlight was George Michael singing Somebody to Love. And Bowie is DEFINITELY a rabbit hole you have to go down. One of the greatest of all time... and he`s a saxophonist!
Mr. Bowie is a legend. You should see his performance and interview on the Dick Cavett Show. I especially like "Stompin Foot".
Bowie legend forever!!!!
Bisscute great job with your reaction to Heroes Live Performance from David Bowie. At Live AID 85
Only two words needed for absolute perfection in the music world - David Bowie. Nothing else to be said.
The Thin White Duke himself, one of the greatest British musical artists of all time, a pure legend who produced astounding music across SIX DECADES, with true masterpiece tracks that run the entire gamut of his career ... there are just TOO MANY great songs from him to list, but essentials would definitely include Space Oddity, Ziggy Stardust, Rebel Rebel, The Young Americans, Modern Love, When nthe World Falls Down (from the Labyrinth soundtrack), Ashes to Ashes, Queen Bitch, Starman, Life On Mars, Sound & Vision, Golden Years, Under Pressure (with Queen), Scary Monsters (and Supercreeps), The Man Who Sold the World, Black Tie White Noise, Little Wonder and my absolute favourite of all, Hearts Filthy Lesson.
The only other large festival-style concerts that approached the level of Live Aid in that era were the US Festivals (there were more than one). They were put on by David Wozniak. one of the founders of Apple.
Oh I see ♥️
Queen was a great band, and yes, had a big impact in music, BUT, as an influence, the contribution as an artist, to become a reference for next generation artists and culture in general: Bowie is A MONSTER, he’s one of the most important influences in modern music and culture, you need to see much more of his work to understand the legacy he left us. And yes, one of the most important songs in rock history, and yes, from Queen: is with Freddie Mercury AND SABID BOWIE singing together… Sadly there’s no video recording of both of them singing together, guess they thought they could eventually had the chance at some point, even this very same event, Live Aid would have been the perfect moment, being there one after the other, but since nobody else but the band members from Queen knew about Freddie’s illness, nobody would’ve thought that was maybe the only opportunity for them to perform together. And yes, precisely at the tribute concert for Freddie Mercury, Bowie sang that song next to ANOTHER British legend: Annie Lennox.
Bowie is considered the biggest iconoclastic, he’s that important that the OBVIOUS first song that would be played outside our planet, the first song played at the International Space Station was David Bowie’s Space Oddity.
Bowie's artistry goes from straight up weird to absolute brilliance.
discovered you today around all my favorite songs, like you very much :)😍
Bowie did four songs that day: TVC15, Rebel Rebel, Modern Love and he concluded with Heroes. Tough act to follow after Queen, but, he pulled it off.
He did amazing ❤️
One of my all time favourite tracks! Cheers from France.
Bowie! I miss him greatly😢Iconic musical genius. Check out Young Americans, Fame, Space Oddity, Scary Monsters, I’m Afraid of Americans, and on and on.
Probably the coolest man ever to exist
I'm looking forward to discovering more from him ♥️
bowie was amazing.... sorely missed artist
Just discovered your reaction channel. I like them, especially the heavy metal ones. But I must say OMG YOU'RE SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The later half of the London part of Live Aid was frankly insane. U2, Dire Straits, Queen, David Bowie, The Who, and Elton John over 5 hours.
I was alive during it, but far to young to have any memories of it even if my family watched it. But it was such a cultural phenomena referenced all through my childhood it was impossible not to know of it. Even if it took me decades to finally watch a rerun and understand how amazing it was.
The US side of Live Aid was equally stacked.
And Phil Collin’s played at both. I remember watching it on TV and if I was two or three years older I’d have appreciated it a bit more at the time.
It's my favourite Bowie song. Here's what I have as suggestion for getting to know the artist: I think the best way is by whole albums (with lyrics and references explained). Take one from each decade for the start, though he had more changes and stage personae than that. Some songs are great some are just so-so, but the album experience is always a unique treat. And all from an artist who claimed to hate rock music and treated calling his songs rock as an insult.
Also his duets with other great people (Tina Turner, Mick Jagger...) are always a pleasure.
The sax were the load notes, the high notes was a synth, and a sax was his first instrument
David Bowie & Queen - Under Pressure. You gotta react to their duet/collab 👏🏻
Oh you should react to Bowie's "Space Oddity" song (also check the lyrics). You probably know it already, specially if you've watched that amazing movie Walter Mitty - which I also recommend to watch in case you haven't done so yet.
One suggestion I would give, if you really like Queen, is after Freddie died, they held a Freddie Mercury Tribute concert at Wembley stadium in 1992, and literally almost everyone was there to pay tribute to Freddie. It's the singular concert I've probably watched the most. It reminds me alot of this Liveaid (which obivously came before). But there are some awesome and emotional performances, including David Bowie. Yeah I know it's a LONG concert, and I couldn't really narrow it down for you which to watch, they are all awesome. It starts with, including and not limited to, Metallica and Guns n' Roses, both at their peak at that moment, doing solo sets. Then Queen; Brian, Roger and John; came on and perfomed with quest performers. It's one of the last times we saw John Deacon play bass with them.
Well I hadn't finished the video yet and I kinda answered the question about "any other concert on this scale" xD Also Live 8 in 2005, which was a follow up to this mega happening, many concerts all over the world at the same time and for charity.
Answers.
1. Yes. Bowie was great at Live Aid. He did a fine set following Queen.
2. Yes. Live 8 was held in 1985 in London (and other cities around the world) and included great sets by U2, Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Madonna and Pink Floyd.
Bowie was a hero to so many. As others have said he has a huge catalogue of songs. Try starting with space oddity, star man and life on Mars. You won't be disappointed.
U2 Live AID performance is worth a look.
Simply one of the best of all time,a rock and roll chameleon, actor who pushed boundaries of artistic and musical expression, please, dig deep,it's well worth it,look at the Ziggy Stardust album for a good introduction.
You can hear David Bowie and Freddie Mercury together in the song Under Pressure.
David Bowie was always evolving musically, not one album sounds the same. He was also an accomplished actor. You could do a movie reaction on your other channel to Labyrinth(1986) and The Man Who Fell Who Fell To Earth(1976). You can also see him in Zoolander(2001) which I think you will like. Thanks for the reaction and I'll see you tomorrow.
Don't forget "The Hunger", a vampire movie with Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon.
@@iDEATH Absolutely. I listed his first role in the man who fell to earth. his staring role labyrinth and appearance in zoolander just because it's a fun movie..haha
You should start discovering hidden gems of these artists..for example most beautiful and most underrated David Bowie’s song: Absolute Beginners
More Bowie! especially Pressure and Space Oddity,
Freddy Mercury and David Bowie. Two of my music loves.
U2 Live bbn aid performance is epic
You are turning into one of my fave reactors on here!
maybe you'll be delighted to enjoy "all the young dudes", played at freddie mercury tribute. david Bowie did backing vocals and played the sax!
Live Aid 1985 did have a sequel - Live 8 in 2005... it was also for charity and Pink Floyd played their final concert there.
Paul McCartney, U2, Elton John and The Who did well in that show, but the highlight was Pink Floyd...
Status Quo was the first band to open Live Aid in 1985... their performance of John Fogerty's "Rocking all over the world" still stands tall 🔥🔥Led Zeppelin did a 'reunion' performance in '85, but it was apparently a disaster... Jimmy Page has refused all footage from that concert be viewed currently... Black Sabbath (original band) also did a set...Madonna did a very energetic show at both Live Aid and Live 8.
But it was Queen that was stole the show...
So many to chose from. Ashes to Ashes is a personal favorite of mine.
Hello Biscute, it's been awhile how are you doing? So happy to see you did one of David Bowie's. always been one of my favorites. See you on Twitch soon again hopefully. I am always the Gypsy. Hahaha. Blessed Be.
Funny Live Aid story, right after Queen's iconic performance, they crossed paths with Bowie as they were leaving the stage and David was approaching, and Bowie said to Freddie Mercury "You bastards!"
The Legend
OMFG I love Bowie almost as I love Queen lol. Suggestions: Queen WITH David Bowie - Under Pressure, I'm Afraid of Americans (with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, As the World Falls Down, The Man Who Sold the World, Space Oddity, and the movie Labyrinth for your other channel as he played a major character in it.
