My heart says the Gibson, my wallet says the Epiphone 😅

I would think that a gibson acoustic,, at that price, should be durable enough to not worry about the tempurature fluctuations and such. My grandpa bought a martin guitar around 1970 and travelled everywhere with it, and it is still in perfect condition. But also back then they built them a bit more heavy duty. Now they use scalloped bracing which increases volume and tone, but reduces the strength and regidity of the top a bit. But in the 70s I'm pretty sure they still used regular bracing which would make the top a bit stronger and more rigid.

My question is at the end of the day you can set up the EQ of the Epi to achieve all the nuances that the Gibson has or no?

Great video! To be fair, if you're going to do a comparison of these guitars they should either both be cutaways or full body. I own both Epi and Gibson guitars. You certainly can see and hear the difference. Even though the wood may be the same on both guitars, the bracing dictates the sound and tbh I don't think it's the same on an Epiphone.

Very good point! It would be much more fair having the bodies be the same. We do what we can with what comes through the shop though.

Gibson defiantly, been wanting to upgrade to a J45, or Martin D18 but a bit above my budget, do you thing it would be wise to buy a used one if i could find it

There is nothing wrong with buying a used instrument! We primarily deal with used guitars. Just gotta make sure to buy from a reputable store/individual and make sure to check for anything that seems off.

I liked the tone of the epiphone better unplugged. A little tite but overall sounded better.

Can agree the Epiphone seems to sound better fully acoustic. The pickup in it leaves something to be desired

Personally I would have a difficult time finding my "start to song" notes on the Epiphone. So I'd need the Gibson or something with a similar voice like that on a similar Eastman.

Buying a higher quality instrument will benefit your playing-you improve to its qualities, or at least I did with a J45.

I’ll say this much: obviously 9/10 the most expensive quitar will sound the beat, have better quality and overall production will be immaculate. Now, I don’t care who you are or where you are located, anything over $2500-$3000 os overpriced and quite honestly not worth the price. This isn’t some diamonds & pearls or gold, we’re talking wood here, that’s it. It may be quality wood and it may be put together with more attention to detail but at the end of rhetoric day it’s still wood. $4500 is not worth the money for a Gibson, anyone who pays that much, honestly even though it’s their money and they can do as they please, is just plain stupid.

The Gibson sounds fuller, compared to the Epiphone. The Epiphone seems a little lifeless to my ears.

It definitely feels like the Epiphone finish absorbs some of the sound making it seem lifeless

Play the Gibson first, either way your not gonna want to go back to Epiphone if you do the Epi first

You're going with a laminate Hummingbird that just isn't that good, a real value priced instrument. The $450 Epiphone option is a huge leap down, however the $800 Epiphone "Inspired By Gibson", all-solid wood Hummingbird is a very different story. The $800 Epi providing the best ROI for most hobbyist and I would even say gigging musicians who don't mind upgrading the stock pickup
