I watch these videos concerning the need to stock up makes me so anxious. The reason being I live with my daughter and her husband. They aren’t very concerned about stocking up on these items. I don’t have a place to put a supply of very many items. They are on an acre of land n not one inch is set aside for a garden of vegetables 😧! I can’t plant one myself because it’s not considered necessary😲😥. I do have a walk in closet. Not too big but I have started a small stack of some canned goods n dried beans n rice. Not much to last very long but it may help in a tight spot???? I can’t believe how nonchalant so many people are regarding the idea to have a stock of whatever it takes for each person’s needs for an emergency😱😮😥! I’m 78 and my parents kept an extra stock of everything needed for an emergency. My Mother canned goodies from our garden and we ate things that would be out of season because of her great canning talent. We even made homemade grape jelly from an abandoned vineyard that my Mother kept watered so we could have fresh grapes to eat and to can👊🏻👏! Those were the days🙏🏼🤩☺️
Just 62 but I remember the days. Have you tried tomato plants in pots? It’s easier to find space for a pot than a rowed up garden. Many things can be grown this way. Do not buy any canned food in the “pop top” cans. They do not store long term as long as the cans that need a can opener. Also do not buy anything in a plastic container (honey, peanut butter, etc), only glass. Don’t forget shelf stable herbs and condiments. Makes a huge difference in need for larger servings as it satisfies hunger quicker than a tasteless meal. The other end of the spectrum is not eating enough to stay healthy because food is so tasteless.

Freeze dried eggs are marvelous. We prepare 5-20 dozen at a time in a blender. After freeze drying, put the powder in mylar bags. Then they can be reconstituted. The end product is a true , delicious egg. We have done this for the last two years and even made omelets by adding freeze dried onion, bell peppers, mushrooms, and butter powder to the egg powder in the Mylar bags. You can reconstitute with either cold water or cold milk. Also, after reconstituting the egg, it can be used in ANY recipe!
Uck. Dehydrated is better. Try everything before you buy it to store. I went to Dicks and tried a lot of the Dehydrated camping foods like mountain house. Took them home prepared and ate. Then decided I would buy all mountain house.

Let's just say here that he was late for his date and forced to wear another outfit. Calling it poetic justice is an understatement. If I can't find salt in the grocery store, I'm taking a 2.5 hour trip to the salt mine and purchase salt in bulk of 100 pounds for just a few dollars.....the most that I will have to pay is maybe $10.

Make sure you store the rice and beans in a mice proof container . I think you can do a lot of prepping gradually .
