  • In order to put in a concrete pad in our back yard, this tree had to go. My mother really wanted to keep the tree as it is a Crepe Myrtle, which is difficult to grow and has bright colors in the fall. The original plan was to dig a 6' wide cylinder around the tree and move the entire thing to a new location a few yards away. Upon realizing that we were unable to lift a few thousand pounds of dirt, we decided that the next best thing was to just get the trunk and as many roots as possible. So we tied a cargo strap around the tree and hooked to the truck. It actually worked. The tree survived this and now living about 12' from where it was.
