Subtitles don't match what Ogryn says at 8:35. Not sure if intentional or not, but it really threw me off when I first heard it. Found it funny anyways.

Actually, there was a whole in-universe paper (it was actually on a piece of scroll/parchment with an official seal) that I can't remember if it was fanmade or legit where someone asked, "Why not just throw asteroids at planets for exterminatus?" It'd be cheaper." and the person writing it giving a detailed cost breakdown for an Imperial Navy ship to go into an asteroid field, capture asteroids, and send them to a planet and how it would be even more expensive and take multitudes longer than just firing a Cyclonic torpedo at the planet and being done in 5 minutes - and ends with the person writing it "sentencing" the person who posed the question to additional financing courses as punishment. Here it is:
    "Rocks are NOT 'free', citizen.
Firstly, you must manoeuvre the Emperor's naval vessel within the asteroid belt, almost assuredly sustaining damage to the Emperor's ship's paint from micrometeoroids, while expending the Emperor's fuel.
Then the Tech Priests must inspect the rock in question to ascertain its worthiness to do the Emperor's bidding. Should it pass muster, the Emperor's Servitors must use the Emperor's auto-scrapers and melta-cutters to prepare the potential ordinance for movement. Finally, the Tech Priests finished, the Emperor's officers may begin manoeuvring the Emperor's warship to abut the asteroid at the prepared face (expending yet more of the Emperor's fuel), and then begin boosting the stone towards the offensive planet.
After a few days of expending a prodigious amount of the Emperor's fuel to accelerate the asteroid into an orbit more fitting to the Emperor's desires, the Emperor's ship may then return to the planet via superluminous warp travel and await the arrival of the stone, still many weeks (or months) away.
After twiddling away the Emperor's time and eating the Emperor's food in the wasteful pursuit of making sure that the Emperor's enemies do not launch a deflection mission, they may finally watch the ordinance impact the planet (assuming that the Emperor's ship does not need to attempt any last-minute course correction upon the rock, using yet more of the Emperor's fuel).
Given a typical (class Bravo-CVII) system, we have the following:
Two months, O&M, Titan class warship: 4.2 Million Imperials
Two months, rations, crew of same: 0.2 MI
Two months, Tech Priest pastor: 1.7 MI
Two months, Servitor parish: 0.3 MI
Paint, Titan class warship: 2.5 MI
    Dihydrogen peroxide fuel: 0.9 MI
    Total: 9.8 MI
    Contrasted with the following:
    5 warheads, magna-melta: 2.5 MI
One day, O&M, Titan class warship: 0.3 MI
One day, rations, crew of same: 0.0 MI
    Dihydrogen peroxide fuel: 0.1 MI
    Total: 2.9 MI
Given the same result with under one third of the cost, the Emperor will have saved a massive amount of His most sacred money and almost a full month of time, during which His warship may be bombarding an entirely different planet.
The Emperor, through this - His Office of Imperial Outlays - hereby orders you to attend one (1) week of therapeutic accountancy training/penance. Please report to Areicon IV, Imperial City, Administratum Building CXXI, Roan 1456, where you are to sit in the BLUE chair.
    For the Emperor,
    Bursarius Tenathis,
    Purser Level XI,
    Imperial Office of Outlays"

To be fair that ogryn personality type has always been more on the ball when it comes to suspecting something more is going on then there being told. i heard an interaction where the same personality was asking about a ship that came flying into the hanger on fire and it’s crew screaming about something. As to be expected ranik tells him to not ask questions like that, which I think ties into the personality which I think is themed around “is so much smarter then the average ogryn that they know being stupid is easier” especially once you notice that he constantly talks about not asking questions, doing what is told, and not caring about bigger Picture stuff. I think He’s not saying he doesn’t understand therefore it’s not important, he’s demonstrating the imperial dogma that ignorant minds come out on top and being smarter then needed leads to you being in trouble.

    • @DiabloDelMer1
      @DiabloDelMer1 Před rokem

@@alonesometravler9343 My headcannon is that the Tryanids are just a hyper-advanced scavenger species. Very effective against creatures that can succumb to their ceaseless scale of mass, but hardly worth mentioning when you compare them to say, the Old-ones, the C'tan, the Eldar at the height of their power, the Necrons, humanity during the Dark/Golden Age of technology, Orks (even as they are now are capable of fighting on par with the nid invaders), or even just the more dangerous outlets of Warp nonsense (Note the Ghoul stars for this). Arguably the only reason the Imperium (And chaos) is so susceptible to the nid threat is that its so heavily reliant on the Warp of FTL communication and travel. The 'Shadow in the Warp' makes reacting to or escaping from an invasion fleet incredibly difficult, so mounting the scales of defense necessary is nigh impossible for the average world. Either way, when you boil it down, nids are nothing more than a giant, unsophisticated hammer in a universe that lacks nails. When you compare them to the great powers that do or once have existed in the milky way alone, they are rather primitive and can be sent running so long as you give them a good kick (again, note the ghoul stars for this).
Oh, and yes, one could argue that the nid cults certainly complicate the matter, but as it stands chaos cults are by far more dangerous.
