This is our trawler life story.
We retired early and decided to make a big change. We sold everything and moved aboard our 54' Cheoy Lee passagemaker, a “go anywhere in the world”, ocean going power boat.
That was in 2014 and we have never looked back.
Now in our late 50's we are free of work and we are living aboard and cruising our trawler full time.
We have two additional crew members, feline brothers, Blake and Barkley. Yes, we have two brave (sorta) boat cats, on board!
Join us and our crew, on our adventures as we explore new places, discover more about our trawler and what makes her work, and learn more about ourselves in our young retirement years. Our hope is to entertain and inspire you to pursue your own passions through telling our story of our cruising trawler lifestyle.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, and liking Cruising Sea Venture!
Best, Jim, Rosy, Blake and Barkley

You guys made it to retirement! I’m happy for you. So many people don’t make it and work themselves to death or are crippled with antidepressants! You guys rock
Cheers from Squamish, subscribed
Must be nice to be able to do this! Enjoy.
Cruising in that thick fog with all the boat traffic around would freak me out!
It requires you be extra diligent! We both are in the pilot house during those times. We also have 2 separate radars running, plus AISTracking keeping track of boats. If needed we can also always slow down as well. Thanks for watching. Jim
It was an honor to be the Half Moon Bay welcoming committee! Great to meet you guys and we are sorry to have missed Blake and Barkley.
Our time and a half Moon Bay with you guys is one of the highlights of going down the coast. Thanks so much for taking the time to track us down. Jim & Rosy
Thanks for taking us along! I ❤️ you're adventures! Stay safe and have a ball.😊
So much to see and do in the San Francisco Bay area. Half Moon Bay is also a great place to visit.
Another great video. Thanks! 👍🏻👏
GREAT STUFF! I have seen Pelicans in flight while sportsfishing here on southern tip of Vancouver Island but very unusual.CHEERS from HERE!!!
Thank you as always for sharing!!!
Wonderful!
Gonna be making the trip from SF Bay to Santa Cruz and Monterey in my trawler the 1st week in October. If you're still around, hope to meet you. In any case, I love your vids!
Currently we are in Ensenada Mexico. We spent the month of July going from San Francisco to Ensenada. We will be here until the end of hurricane season before heading further south, most likely around December 1st. Thanks, Jim
Great video, looks like you guys had fun. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for your videos! You guys are great:-)
Been watching your journey thank you very much. I left San Francisco about three years ago to Newport Beach California. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the trip. You should stop by Catalina.
Man that Pelican shit at HMB reeks!
Another nice one guys. Enjoy!
Oh did you visit Alcatraz? I suppose you can cruise nicely at 1500-1800- RPM
We did not visit Alcatraz on this trip. We have been there in the past, and while it is really interesting, On e is probably enough. Thanks, Jim
@@CruisingSeaVenture fair enough I guess once you’ve seen it you’ve seen it 👍👍👍
Great videos, wish we could have run into you in the PNW. I was wondering where you found the fender holders or mounts that allow the fenders to be hung from the solid rail?
Hi, the fender holders were custom made for us by a guy that has a booth every year at the Seattle Boat Show. We gave him the measurements and he made them up. We have two different sizes. We got 6 of them and they were about $200 each. They are leather and very well made. We have had them about 5 years and they do not show any wear.
If I'm correct that was about 1 year real time compressed into 18 minutes. Glad you're back on the move and looking forward to your Mexico adventures!!
Close! The video covers us being tourists for a few days in San Francisco then one day of cruising. The boat stayed in Redwood City for about 10 months while we went back to Washington and enjoyed the birth of our first grandchild and I got a new left knee. Thanks, Jim
Jim, how did the knee recovery go? Congrats on the new grand baby!
Well here's a business idea: Make boat fenders but in the shape of Fender Guitars.
Perhaps we could fine~tune the shape of the fenders, so in the right circumstances, they could actually make music.
