  • Another great Artist with a thing for Music. Yes he is a legend. Never saw Taeyang talk this much before He actually kept his shirt on the whole time. ^^ I wish they drank. It took a bit too long to loosen up.

    I discovered Taeyang through Vibe so this episode was the first time I really heard him speak. He seemed like a really grounded person and was really lovely to Jimin and Suga both. I was surprised to find out that he was already friendly with RM as well and they checked out art together. I would never have guessed that Taeyang was so soft-spoken and introverted judging by his stage persona. I guess he has that in common with Jimin, Suga and Namjoon actually. They are quiet souls when the spotlight is off.

      I know he was introverted but never saw him talk this much either. He always had others who would speak. He seems very well-spoken and serious about his art. Like I said before though, they get on the stage and their energy, and often the shirts just seem to explode. ^^

    I've been watching your reactions and really enjoy your perspective. I'm 69 and I am one who admires BTS as artists, and as a retired professor, I am exploring Korean culture more broadly as a result. I don't often comment as I do not want to offend ARMY, who might misinterpret my observations, but my perspective is broader than fandom and your approach and insights are a refreshing change. Thanks so much for sharing. I look forward to more.

      Thank you. In my opinion, there are plenty of Army's with open mind. Hence, the large spectrum of age-group. There are some who can be a bit of a zealot but it is like no Fandom I have ever experienced. For example, I can be classified as old in other fandoms, but not here. How many Korean boygroup will have a retired professor as a fan. 🤩 So please engage more with others and don't mind weird ones. This is one place age shouldn't matter. Or the perspectives for that matter

      ARMY is huge so there are some difficult people, but there are a lot of folks who will tell them to sit down and let you be, too. 😁
      I'm not saying I've never encountered anyone difficult, but my experience joining ARMY (as a middle-aged man) has been gaining a very large purple family. Many of us love BTS for their sincerity and desire to encourage people to treat each other, and themselves, well - so there are a lot of people who are very kind.
      You don't have to interact if you don't want to, but you can probably have some great conversations if you decide to. A lot of us have perspectives that aren't limited to the boundaries of fandom 😁

    You can be both introverted and extroverted. Depends on the situation what part of you comes out. The introverted part of you would sweat over ordering coffee but the extroverted part of you shines at parties (when the introverted part of you is talked into actually going to the party).

  • @vpme17

    They are more controlled and praised each other, despite of being respect, also (I think) because of their fans sensitiveness. They don't want to make fan war.

    • @komerican-og
      @komerican-og  Před rokem +3

      Fan wars are weirdest thing ever. As a group, can not be everyone, Army is the most diverse and accepting Fandom I have witnessed. Were there huge fan war with Army? I think it would be pretty stupid to get it on with the Army. There is a Korean saying... Hitting a Boulder with an egg.😁

    • @lavenderbluemama953
      @lavenderbluemama953 Před rokem +2

      I didn't even think of that idea, a fan war, because I am new to ARMY & fandoms in general, but I imagine the OG Armies have seen so much in this regard before. I really like your egg/boulder saying! Lol!
      I thought Suga was probably just nervous & formal because he was a bit starstruck. BTS members have this endearing & difficult to understand quality where they forget they are celebrities themselves, lol! The fact that they don't see themselves that way, to me is part of their humility & charm. But I don't know about all of the Korean respect traditions. So I appreciate your perspective so much, when explaining cultural aspects of these videos. Thank you! 💜

    Hi John, I’m new to your channel and found you when you did Suchwita with Jimin. I’m an older Asian-American ARMY (non-Korean) and I love hearing from a Korean’s perspective. I went back to see all your videos that are BTS related as well. After you watched the Suchwita episode with Tablo, I was so hoping you would do this one with Taeyang, and here it is! I’ve only known about BigBang for a little over a year now, and I really like them. I missed out on all those years that I didn’t even know they existed. Since discovering BTS, I’ve taken an interest in knowing more about Korean culture too. BTS brought me to the world of K-pop. You mentioned you haven’t seen the ‘Vibe’ MV with Taeyang and Jimin. There is also the one where they do a ‘live’ performance of Vibe. I loved that one so much - can you possibly react to the ‘live’ performance for us, if you haven’t yet seen it? Also, is this where we can request or make suggestions for reactions? Thank you for your thoughts & insights, especially those pertaining to Korean culture/customs/traditions.

Second, if I have nothing good to say, I do not upload. Third, I might forget or LIFE catches up with me and didn't have the time. This sounds like a lot if and buts but I have reacted to almost all of the songs suggested to me so far LOL ^^ Bye

      Taeyang is very different from todays idols, not just the way he was molded as a singer but even his way of thinking. He’s the type of person who has an almost devotion to his work or anything in general. He’s not about trends, he doesn’t like easy things as he dedicates hours of learning specific hobbies. Things like Skateboarding, piano, Japanese, singing, dancing, ect. Even if he’s incredibly good at them he NEVER stops doing homework or learning from other people. This is why he got married to his first love. He said as a rookie that once he finds someone he would NEVER let them go even at the cost of his career. He also said he wanted two things above everything, #1 to be a singer, #2 to become an amazing father…he was barely 20 years old and for an idol to say that was just so insane in the late 2000’s especially since he was on TOP of the industry and because idols are treated as untouchable.
      That book SUGA is talking about, that book is so incredibly good and so inspirational to any idol even now as it was written when they were all trainees and barely into their careers. It’s 5 stories individually written by the 5 members.
      Have you ever met a person who loved the process of hard work more than the goal? That is the embodiment of Taeyang.
      If discipline was a person it would be Taeyang.

    You should watch this behind the scene of jitb party lol, after watching them for years of course i already knew that they are a bunch of the most endearing, a bit too humble human beings but im quite shocked at how shy they are to meet other 'celebrities'. Mind you it was a listening party that was being held by hoseok at THEIR OWN company rooftop and all the guests are like korean hiphop celebs and dancers. Being a shameless introvert myself, i was fascinating watching it lmao. As someone who studied psychology, I do believe that introvert/extrovert mostly doesnt have anything to do with shyness, its simply more like about which way we gain our energy from. So yeah i am introvert bcs im getting overwhelmed or feel spent so fast when i have much social interactions and i love to be alone all the time. But im also not that shy, i dont have much problem with starting convos and people might think im a social butterfly if they just meet me once.

      You are right. Perhaps it is the difference between where your self is directed toward. Inward or outward. I am an introvert myself but most won't believe me. It took so much effort to appear as what I am not. It was never a courage thing for me but comparative lack of practice and need. Shy might have more to do with recognizing self-worth. Now I am so much more comfortable being alone. At the end of the day that is the most important person. Checked out the video and what a bunch of nice guys. Adorable.

      There are rude older people who will be too comfortable and be informal without even asking. That is the worst. However, it is an option for many. The fact that Taeyang showed that much respect, will be a proud moment for Suga. Because it was obviously genuine. So, not to worry. At least in my mind, Suga must have been so happy that a childhood hero of his, paid him that much respect and love.
