I assume what Suga meant by the such a career at 23 comment was that BB made it big with the song Lies in 2007, only one year after their debut. Taeyang was 19 at the time. So fast forward to the mentioned Alive album in 2012, and Taeyang had already had years of success with BB and released a successful solo album (Solar in 2010) while still only being in his early 20s. And comments like this is how you know he truly knows Taeyang’s career 😁

@BIGBANG Timeline I just want to say that VIPs were known to be the chicest, chillest, and even laziest fandom until...
I remember their fans used to ask other fandoms (especially VIPs since the boys are self-proclaimed VIPs themselves) to stay during music shows to help cheer BTS because they were only a few of them.
When BB was gone for a while and BTS started gaining popularity, the fans wanted so much to covet titles that BIGBANG worked so hard for years, started discrediting them, and now, even disrespecting BB calling them names they clearly don't know anything about. That will never sit well with VIPs.
So, I hope this one puts everything into place, unless the toxic fans keep being out of touch with reality, denying what the members (both Jimin and Suga) themselves stated, and staying in their delusion.

We don't really hate BTS. It's the toxic fans that we hate. VIPs support BTS during their rookie days simply bcoz they are our fellow VIPs. We basically became the 2nd fandom for BTS. But when toxic Armies started insulting and throwing hate on BIGBANG, that upset us especially when it kept going on until today. That's why VIPs prefer BIGBANG to stay away from BTS as much as possible coz we don't want them to summon those toxics by association.
But then our fave don't gaf about those toxics so he decided to collab with an artist he thinks is amazing. And as his fans we support him on whatever path or direction he wants to take for himself. This collab also reminds us VIPs that our fave Taeyang is collaborating with our fellow VIP and now having an interview with our fellow VIP. Hence, we want this positivity to continue.

You have identified a big reason Taeyang is so magnetic. He’s an enigma. His appearance and his demeanor are exact opposites which is what makes him mesmerizing! The bare chest, hooded smile/glare/stare, his hair that always says “Yeah, you think is ugly but next week everyone will be copying my look.” He MUST be a jerk!
And then you get to know him. It’s the same experience with everyone, when they find out he is an actual musician, not just a manufactured idol. And a family man. And a church boy. And the ultimate professional. And kind. And he doesn’t even drink. *The beverages he brought are non alcoholic. They are kind of like kombucha and ginger ale.
By the way, about the hair: BigBang were the ones who introduced hair that is colored blue, purple, mint green, lemon yellow, etc to K-pop. On “Fantastic Baby” T.O.P showed up with blue hair and at first everyone hated it. And they kept doing it anyway. You know the rest of the story. They have always been at the front of any K-pop hair trend.

@@ALovelyPenguin to make it more clearer, BIGBANG wasn't a hit during their debut or rookie days coz they are too different from what the usual idol industry in kpop looks like. They were even called ugly idol group. They are hiphop idol group. But bcoz of GDRAGON's song LIES and YG himself for turning the solo song into a group song, that catapulted BIGBANG's career into stardom. Releasing hit after hit, BIGBANG became superstars and their superstar status got cemented by another GDRAGON song HARU HARU. . . They debuted in 2006 while LIES got released in 2007. So yeah, BIGBANG members were really young when they achieved the superstar status. They became even bigger after their ALIVE album coz it proved to everyone how tough they are coz they survived a setback that would have ended their careers.

Kpop culture in the old days are different from today, so BIGBANG going big in 2011- 2012 was a feat for the Kpop industry.
Kpop fans that came in during the massive boom of 5G around the world and a new younger internet user coming in around 2017 won't be able to picture what it was like to be a Kpop idol or a fan in the old days. That's why Suga is impressed with BIGBANG. They achieve a feat that no one else can do in that day and age. They also went through endless hate and have been involved in controversies (which usually can kill any Korean celebrities career), but BIGBANG members chose to accept the hate and stay for the fans. They didn't get the same kind of worldwide scale promotion like bts. The group's promotions was very limited. That Shout Out to the World book that Suga mentioned, that's a BIGBANG book. They didn't distributed a version in English or other languages. Literally, ignoring international fans. They've been like that according to their oldest fans. But heck, BIGBANG amassed lots of support worldwide and became successful.
Suga also mentioned Korean singers has a very short career but BIGBANG keeps killing it. Sure, they aren't getting any bigger than BTS anymore but people still love what they put out even without promoting like every idol does. That's a big feat for an idol that's been around for 17 years. Tbh, their achievement in that 2006 -2015 era cannot be replicated in the age of dependence to social media and video content.

I loved seeing Yoongi fanboying and really taking Taeyang’s advice seriously. In the U.S., I’m used to young celebrities making it big and then being self destructive. So it’s really nice that someone who is a good influence, seemingly, is befriending several of the BTS members who would be fairly vulnerable. It’s reassuring. Yoongi was ready to go over to Taeyang’s for dinner! I can imagine Yoongi picking up Jimin from the airport when he gets back to Korea and saying, here’s some clothes, you can change on the way, we’re going to Taeyang’s house for dinner.😂

18:19 Yes, BTS have had an amazing career, but I think no other idol or kpop artist has made more of an impact on the music, art, and fashion markets from a young age to Korea, Asia, and other countries than BIGBANG.
In an era when even SNS was barely developed, BIGBANG had their own penlight for the first time in kpop, ability to produce own songs for the first time as a kpop idol, full-fledged and unique rapping, innovative hair colors and styles, too fresh fashion style and make-up, poses that like most people imitate, freedom stage presentations, etc... They really set the standard of today's k-pop, they are truly legends for the world, and I think they can be called the King of Kpop.

Unfortunately for him, until we get to see he is innocent, I have to push him to the side when it comes to the group. I know that makes people upset, but I am not going to potentially support a predator. I think the rest of the groups shouldn't be punished for that, but Seungri needs some really solid proof at this point that he was not involved and did not even know anything about it. I know about the conviction rate, so that was immediately ruled out of my thought process when I decided to push him to the side. I also noted too how there is an incredible amount of abuse to women by men in Korea currently especially in the entertainment business. It happened over here too and we only recently started doing something about it, that's the MeToo movement. So if I was a betting man I would put down that he had some sort of involvement. 😅 It is funny how Taeyang looks like the bad boy in BigBang but he is this church boy . Actualy GDragon and Taeyang have a song about how apearances can be deceving . Is called Good Boy . GD also is such a cutie and a shy man off stage. As a rapper and an idol he can look intimidating on stage but he is really so different in his private life . He just goes around Seoul on his bicicle and eat in small korean restaurants . The biggest fan of BigBang is probably BTS producer. He said that when he heard Lies written by GD he felt like he saw Mozard. Before BigBang the rapper rappers looked down on idol rappers because kpop groups just had no real rapline . The rapper was that person who could not sing good enough to be vocalist but maybe was a dancer or a looked really good so he got trained to do some rap. Then BigBang came and they had TOP who was an underground rapper and GDragon who debut at 13 as a rapper . They brought respect . Rappers like Suga or RM would not think about join a kpop group if BigBang would not give idols the freedom to be artists not company puppets. And yeah you should watch tge MAMA 2014 it was epic. The video is actualy cut în two. First Taeyang sings Eye Nose Lips then GD comes on and diss the organisers . After GD and Taeyang sung Good boy . Find yourself a fansub version of the diss +Good Boy part . MAMA 2013 was cool too. BigBang members performed their solo songs .

I was a fan of second generation groups long before I knew of BTS, so I knew Jimin was in good hands with Taeyang. From day one when I started watching and listening to BTS therr was deep admiration for BigBang and other Korean artists in addition to American artists.
Sometimes you can't be caught up in the celebrity of a person so you can really listen to their words. You get less disappointed when they go in a certain direction or have certain beliefs. When the last festa happened you could see the need for the guys to get rest and pursue other things. It made me sad when Namjoon was trying to convince himself it was ok to take a break and the fans would still be there when they got back together.
I am glad he finally let himself do what he wanted because, he looks relaxed and even more comfortable in his own skin.
I listen to and trust our guys when they say something but, I also know things can never be written in stone. They have an excellent track record of doing what they say and telling us when this has to happen differently. We as ARMY have to remember that they have given us so much and we love them for that but that doesn't entitle us to their entire lives. They are human beings and their parent's sons long before they are BTS.

    He was Jimin's idol.
He's from BIG BANG, the original KPOP Boy Band, before the BTS came along.
Taeyang is a member of BIGBANG
They debuted in 2006 and are considered "The Kings of KPOP" for all the things they have created to modernize KPOP over the years.
TAEYANG is a legend in the KPOP world
    I always love him!😍😍😍
He’s the reason I got into BIGBANG and kpop.

Actually bigbang gained popularity with Lies & Haru Haru, GD and Taeyang we're still teens then. Also the popularity gained was through insane public recognition which boy groups didn't have back then. Only girl groups were nationally recognized and had hits. That was 2007-9 period. GD won awards for producing songs and MNET recognized him as the artist they look most forward to for the next 10 years. It was a huge pressure never seen before by a kpop band and they had some scandals. Then 2011 & 2012 was like a comeback to life for them, which was huge not just in Korea but internationally. Fantastic Baby & Bad Boy we're the anthem and jam of that era. They were the first Korean artist to win at EMA's back then when people knew nothing of kpop.

They are the epitome of unique due to their ability to make hits in so many genres. Lies and Haru Haru put them on the path of domination but their evolution was such that they were and still is the only act who can in the same concert pump out pop, electro-pop, punk-rock(GD), real hip/hop(GD, GD/TOP, GD/Taeyang), R&B(Taeyang), AND ballads with the energy and personas of a rock group instead of pop. Some groups could cover maybe two or three(pop, ballads, and hip/hop) but not on the same level as Big Bang.

The respect they show when you can still see them bowing to staff. It's humbling. I'm glad Taeyang said he listened to Sugas' music as well. Maybe if he does produce a song for him it could have the same outcome as with Psy. Originally there were no plans for Suga to feature in it.

It would not be a lie or far fetched to say that BTS saved my life. I won't go into details but they gave me a laugh when I had almost forgotten how... and they gave me hope when all else seemed dark.
And one last thing I want to say to you is seeing you genuinely express your feelings about BTS and how they are impacting you it is a refresher to people like me who have been criticized for love and caring about "a boy band from Korea". So many people dismiss them based on prejudice for one reason or another and don't realize how easy it is to fall in love with them and they actually love Army back. Regarding Suga being amazed that Taeyang had a career at that age is most likely to the fact that at the dawn of K-pop, idols are not considered artist and looked down upon. Plus, no social media to aid for exposure. With such rigid system of K-pop, it's almost impossible to survive espeically if you don't meet the impossible standard of the GP. BIGBANG were not considered "visual" at the start of their career. Moreso, with their hip-hop concept. They were mocked for that. But they proved everyone wrong and changed the landscape of K-pop. What's amazing is they released albums with years of gap and still be impactful. Love your reaction 🥰

It makes sense he wanted to talk to Taeyang about it. The hiatus topic. Coz Taeyang came from a group which survived disbandment after suffering too many setbacks in their career.
In KPOP, groups usually disband whenever one member pursues his/her solo career. But BIGBANG ended that tradition/culture. BIGBANG proved to everyone that group members can have a successful solo career while still in a group. They also proved to everyone that just bcoz the group is taking a break or hiatus that doesn't mean they are disbanding. It only means that group members can open a new career or be on a new/different path/goal as a solo. Or they can simply have a ME time after all the years of working their ass off. But will eventually comeback as a group.

I'm glad you later regretted the "douche" comment.
When Suga said he couldn't believe how Taeyang could have had a career like that at 23 it was because Suga was 20 when BTS debuted and 23 when they had their first #1 song and BigBang had their first mega hit when Taeyang was 17 and were HUGE when he was 20. So there is a bit of a difference. That is nothing against Suga or BTS. Everyone knows they are the biggest kpop group right now.
The sad thing about this interview is the fact that the toxic part of ARMY has sent SUGA of all people SO much hate for doing it that VIP and the sane ARMY are now trending #ProtectSuga. Pretty sad when VIP have to protect Suga from his own toxic fans.
They've also been flooding Taeyand and even T.O.P with vile hate comments. T.O.P because supposedly V followed him on social media. Which is sick because T.O.P battled severe depression and tried to commit sui**de once.

Big Bang really never influence anybody, unless they were at YG when it all started. Big Bang was only considered a bad influence until Seungri got in all kinds of trouble😢, Korean media will take a piece of news and spread it across all of Asia. By the time it ends up, it is grown arms and legs 🤣😜🤪♥️. Taeyang is a happily married man with a son, who did this military service and return to no band😮😢😢. He was in a dark place and, 12 at actually found his way back to music. Future game 7 years to write this mini_album❤❤. Let's please give him the respect he deserves. Big Bang deserves respect as well, for being one of the first K-pop groups in 2006'.' BigBang paved the way so many second ,third and fourth generation K-pop groups.❤💯💛👑🇺🇸🇰🇷🌊✌️😎🔥🔥

  • @cl7910
    @cl7910 Před rokem +7

There's a lot of misconception on Seungri's case. I'm not as knowledgeable as VIPs but reading the headlines or titles of his charges without looking into the trial will make anyone be bias. And its mostly because Korean media likely want it to stay that way.
One thing everyone likes to forget, Korean media is a bunch of irresponsible insensitive reporters. They don't care if the news they put out is bias or incorrect. As long as it will give them clicks or buzz. Look at what happened to some of the idols and other Korean celebrities. News will put out reports that are not confirmed and use the the Korean public's opinion (a conservative society) to blow up such issues. Once they successfully get the publics full attention. To these Korean reporters... that's what they call success. Then toxicity of Korean netizen will come into play. They will let that controversy thrive and make the person's life miserable and push them to their death. Korean public figures/celebrities lost their career and some their lives all because of unending hate.
Kpop international fans adapted that kind of behavior too. They don't care about twisting stories and spreading them to the general public. The reason why BIGBANG is painted at such a bad light. Wherever I go in the internet nowadays, there's always something nasty and twisted about BIGBANG. And the reports on Seungri are very bias too.
EDIT: I recently watch a drama that describe Korean media as a copy/paste. Meaning, Korean media don't research anymore. This isn't the first time the film industry use a line like that. It's because it reflects on reality. If you read Korean news and check their news records, the copy/paste is massively practiced since the 90s.

One of the things I came to love early in learning about BTS was just how in touch and contemplative they are about themselves. I honestly believe they are all geniuses in their own ways, and being together was the best possible influence to raise them.

But once you watch them on Korean variety shows or interviews, especially when they were a lot younger, BIGBANG is like any other idol. Sad that many won't be able to see that. It's risky to share it on CZcams. BIGBANG guesting on shows usually are copyrighted materials under Korean broadcast TV. And its soooo hard to find old BIGBANG videos that were properly subbed.
They don't put out variety show materials that's 100% under YGentertainment. They don't promote the same way other idols do. They didn't use the same social media strategy as bts did. I think BIGBANG as a group prefer living a private life too.

Still, so many new Army & new BTS fans doesn’t know Jimin wasn’t trained singer that until just before BTS debut, Jimin has never ever had any vocal training!
And now how amazing singer Jimin is!
According to BTS members, during those times, Jimin only slept 3-4 hours a day, almost lived & sometimes slept in practice studio, regularly had nose bleeding, relentlessly practiced his vocal & dancing & got scolded by members to take it easy.
Jin said he even told Jimin
“Jimin-ah! If you keep that up, you are going to die! Pls, eat & sleep!”
I am so glad for Jimin & BTS members to have a senior & hyung(older brother) like TaeYang in their life now, who has gone through many difficulties as a member of BigBang(live through all the huge serious scandals of all other fellow BigBang members involving drug, extortion, Tex evasion, rape, prostitution & more)& huge scandals of his ex-entertainment company & got out of all that & still kept going as a really successful solo artist, never lost his genuine humanity, decency & goodness, has many experiences & has wisdoms & advices to share with Jimin & BTS members.
I am also glad for TaeYang to finally have such a GOOD peoples like Jimin & BTS members in his life because it is very hard to have genuinely good hearted people like Jimin & BTS, especially in their crazy Kpop or global music industries!

While this does not excuse his use of weed, or even the most wise on legal basis, it could have been an escape for him since the mental issue in South Korea is largely a taboo subject. He openly talked about it in the most recent interview that he did attempt to take his life , but he's working on healthier means to address his personal issues. He took accountability of what happened and paid for that. While he's not perfect and made mistake, the backlash was immense almost like he murdered a person. BIGBANG almost lost him and people still left cruel comments even when he's in a coma. Let's not be too hasty and cast judgment because we only see mostly the glossed out part of the idols. God forbid, any of this happens to any BTS members, or any person for that matter.
