  • UPDATE: I managed to refit the door button. The small green plastic peg (picture in the video) needs to be rotated until the slot in the side of it can accept the vertical part of the rod.

You can get the chrome trim round the lock to stay on by drilling small holes through the inside part of the chrome trim into the moulding that holds the lever and screwing in small self tapping screws. The grey moulding into which it fits has a double skin so as long as you only drill through the first skin the repair cannot be seen once it is fitted. Much stronger than the original flimsy tags. I should have taken photos when I did it last week!
My sympathies regarding the push button rod. I have spent frustrated ages getting this to fit - and have succeeded in the end! I will try your method next time - there is sure to be a next time!

Just to inform anybody following this, there is no need to remove the chrome trim around the door pull, simply remove the screw and unhook the door release cable from behind thus releasing the whole door pull with the chrome surround still attached 👍😁👍

That is indeed another way but I did mention in the video that it can be very tricky to get the hook onthe door release cable back in again 👍

Hi no they are handed, so you will need to find another one for the left door.

There is no need to do anything with the door handle, when the door card is free of the metal center clip, all that is needed is to slide the handle towards the back of the car and pull it away and out towards the front of the car, then push it through the hole. To re fit, push it back through the hole, slide it in sideways towards the back of the car, then slide it towards the front of the car a little.

Thanks, yeah I know that now 😂 I was able to go to a scrapyard and get a good handle from a breaker using the suggested method. Much better!
