The Kevin Rudd option totally cracked me up 😅 As for the PM's nickname ... I can think of some that are somewhat less polite 😅
Hahaha Scumo? Looking forward to him being ousted soon too I take it?
@@AussieEnglishPodcast But will we get a good PM to replace him? Time will tell.
@@FionaEm I doubt it... but "better" would be good lol
I'll say that this will be a perfect test or exam to apply for citizenship
Haha I'll have to check the citizenship test next time and do a video covering it.
@@AussieEnglishPodcast please do this! i’ll be eternally grateful to you Pete (:
A Ukrainian here. Watched it in one go and got 15 out of 20, the wrong ones were for Tasmania (I've misread capital for "largest", how silly is that?), the snake question, the aboriginal people, bloody snag and I've also picked "boomerang" instead of "kangaroo".
Wanna express gratitude for your brilliant content with wide coverage of English learning content. I have been really enjoying your podcast particularly 🙏 pls keep up the good work mate! One of mobs
Thanks, mate! I really appreciate the kind words!
As an Australian, i am proud to say i got 18/20, only tripping up on the snake, thinking it was Red Belly Black, and the states. You tripped me up on the territories lol.
Love it! Thank you for teaching :)
Cheers, mate!
Quite entertaining. I got most of the answers right as I lived in Australia for two years. Maybe it’s time to migrate to Australia now 😊
Loved it, Pete! I follow your channel closely so I thought I would get a bigger score :-( I'll keep watching your vlogs!
Captain James Cook never discovered Australia. Lieutenant James Cook rediscovered New Holland. James Cook was made a captain posthumously as he was already deceased when he was given that rank.
250 languages, woah 🥴🥴🥴
Yeah, it's insane how much diversity was here originally.
Good episode 😄✌🏻
Thanks, Edwin!
Good video, been living in Australia for more than 10 years, but I don't know some questions answer at all!😄
I’m gonna say I got 17&1/2. Got the number of fleet ships and the total area wrong (was trying to not big note us). Corroboree frog. I was sitting there going blue/yellow or black/yellow. Back and forth when you answered. So gave me a half mark 😉
Top work. 👍🏻
16/20 is not too bad. Can I apply for PR visa with this? 😁
Haha totally :P Great work
18/20 - got tripped on the pre-colonial languages and how long the country has been inhabited pre-colonial times, lowballing myself on them as neither were really covered in primary or secondary school before I finished Yr10 up back in '03.
Had a portion of Year 9 Australian History covering the 1975 Double Dissolution, but not much about the caretakers of the land before Cook.
I got 19 out of 20, I then showed this to my partner and he got 4 out of 20, he says I'll need to teach him some things about Australia, considering it was where I was born and I tell him loads of things about the greatest country in the world, I hoped he'd get more than 4
Haha tragic... Might have to tell him to lift his game or it's over haha
Haha. He found a practice Australian Citizenship test on the Australian government website and he got 12 out of 20 so sort of forgiven lol
@@brandonmoseley7791 so true. the best country in the world!
Thank you for this great Video 🙏🙏🙏🙏
My pleasure, mate!
Yeah !!! 18/20 I'm ready for the immigration process :)
Wow! Incredible work :D Where're you migrating from?
@@AussieEnglishPodcast I'm from France And if everything goes as planned, I should arrive in April !
As aperson who is immigrating to Australia soon, I answered 15/20. I think its good for now 😊😊
fun quiz - I got 13/20 so I was not feeling too bad as I in no way claim to be an expert on Australia. TBH I did better since it was multiple choice 😁
I couldn't answer at all only about bushranger & how much ships has fleet questions, myself being about 15000km away from Oz
Still a great effort, mate! Well done :D
I got 19/20
Very interesting! Best regards from Saxony! 👍😎
We Saxons also have a very special dialect! Just ask the other Germans. 😎
Hello from Brazil
Actually many linguists believe there was 500 possibly 700 Languages in Australia before colonisation but now we just have less then 200 spoken in this country and we also have up to 100 possibly more dormant languages which I hope that they will be revitalised and be spoken once again.
16 out of 20. Hit me when I need to sign the PR.😎
I was wrong in 2, 14, 15, and 18.
Peter, ive got 13 right, do you reckon I’ll pass the citizenship test this year?
Yeah, you'll be fine, mate. Just study the practice citizenship tests and it should be a walk in the park :D
Hey, mate. I’m curious about one thing. Is there a native English accent with rhotic r and true t i.e. which pronounces the word water with both 'true t' and 'rhotic r'?
Obviously, I couldn't find one but have seen some people do this, which is possibly an influence of American and British or sth like that. Would you happen to know if there was such an accent?
Hey mate, there may be in the Great Britain, Scotland, Ireland, etc.
I'd say Irish accents come pretty close.
@@AussieEnglishPodcast Thanks. On a different note, today's video was very informative. I didn't even know what 'Uluru' was before today.
@@FionaEm Thank you. I really should've thought of that.
Came here with another musical reference (but of course!).
First time I heard ‘Down Under’ by Men At Work that part when he signs “she took me in and gave me breakfast” immediately caught my ear. I mean, I did not know at the time Colin Hay is Scottish.
13 out of 20 😅
Not bad at all, mate! Well done :D
8:00 hahahahahha
the baby is crying 😅
10 out of 20 lol
Good work, mate!
9 out of 20 🥴
Not bad, mate! Great work!
I LOVE AUSSIES =)
Hey mate how you holding up with that ball cancer I just found a lump
Lol.... my issue turned out to be nothing serious. Go see a doctor for medical advice, mate. Good luck
@@AussieEnglishPodcast OK mate
@@AussieEnglishPodcast but I'm only 13
Mate, I came here to see the Aussie Hero.
I guess 18 questions right
Hehe guess?! Or "knew" :D Good work!
Thank you so much
17/20 3rd, 8th, 14th :/
