    More info on the 1700's than expected.
    In the 1800's during the Civil War, Charlotte Forten, mentioned in this audio account, wrote a journal about growing up In an abolitionist family. She was a schoolteacher on the Sea Islands and knew the 54th Massachusetts Infantry, black soldiers whose gallantry was lauded in the film "Glory."
