Three Musketeers is one of my least favorite books I've ever read. It made me so sad because I was really excited for it!
When I was younger I could remember movies the same way. And in college I would write out all of my formulas on a single sheet of paper and could remember the formula based on where it was located on the page. I do that some now with quotes that I like in books. I'm young, but my 33 year old brain doesn't function the same as my 20 year old brain did.
I agree about slumps. Just take a break. I don't think I've ever had what most people describe as a reading slump because if I don't feel like reading for a few days, I just don't.
And I love writing in my books. I'll underline and scribble notes in the margins. It's like I'm having a conversation with the text and myself because if I go back and reread it I'll respond to my old comments sometimes.
Hi Courtney~ My son didn't like it either. LOL His favorite book is The Count of Monte Cristo, so we thought more Dumas books would be a good choice. He wasn't a fan of Man in the Iron Mask either.

Oh, the brain. I had my older children when I was young, but when I had Prometheus I was older and I had what is called the pregnancy brain. And I was having issues with homophones. It was so weird. I had heard about it, but until then I hadn't experienced it.
YES!!! You get annotation. I love it. That's the best way I've heard it explained, "having a conversation with the text." Excellent! LOL I have also gone back and annotated to my old annotation. I've also annotated to my daughter's annotations. 👍😁
@BookZealots The Count of Monte Cristo is amazing! One of my favorites. After disliking The Three Musketeers so much and only liking The Black Tulip pretty well, I've decided that Dumas probably isn't for me outside of The Count of Monte Cristo.
@@CourtneyReads Agreed. I haven't tried The Black Tulip. Have you read The Black Count by Tom Reiss? It's about Dumas's father and really interesting.
