  • Do you want to know how things work? Are you interested in simulating the physical world using computers? Engineers and scientists are now relying heavily on computational simulation techniques to develop new technologies and shape the world we live in. Ships, geothermal power plants, wind turbines and biomedical devices are a few examples of products where computer models are used to predict how new design ideas will behave in reality. The Computational Engineering major at Aalto University will give you the knowledge and skills necessary to understand, use and develop these computational tools, preparing you to make accurate predictions regarding complex physical problems.

Hello sir, I'm so much Interested in Computational Engineering at Undergrad level, I'm currently Working for IIT-JEE exams as Entrance exam in Engineering colleges in My India, but high competition and low infrastructure in IIT, I want to persue Bachelor in Science and technology in Computational Engineering from Aalto University, can I get Fully funded scholarship for it? Please help me!

So computer science is a different subject than computational engineering right?

Hi! Yes, they are two different subjects. You'll find more information on our Bachelor programme in Computational Engineering here: www.aalto.fi/en/study-options/computational-engineering-bachelor-of-science-technology-master-of-science-technology and on our Master's programme in Computer Science here: www.aalto.fi/en/study-options/masters-programme-in-computer-communication-and-information-sciences-computer-science.

Computational engineering is more like the major prepared for the students with mathematics background or engineering background, it uses computing tools to solve out the engineering and scientific problems numerically. The main contents are about numerical analysis, numerical mathematics, mechanics theories and programming skills for simulating these problems on computer. But you don't need to learn the software development, computer architectures etc. in this major. Comparably, computer science studies software development and low level realisation of program in computer architectures, or some other technologies like computer vision, image processing and pattern recognition.
