- The Sixth Schedule, under article 244 of the Constitution of India allows for the formation of autonomous administrative divisions which have been given autonomy within their respective states. But why is it applied only to the North East Indian States? What is there in the provision of the sixth schedule that gives a special status to certain tribes in India? The provision which is made by the law, is supposed to treat every Indian citizen with equity, but does it really? Sir this non tribal vs tribal has occurred because of many reasons, But one of the reasons for tribal people not liking non tribal people's is If you look at the history of the North East regions you will know that their were tribals before any bengali Or biharis before the British rule. The non tribal people took all our lands reserved for the tribal people's the tribal belts reserved as tribal belts are all taken over by non tribal people's our freedom to be independent has been taken. If we don't defend our sixth schedule region we will become minorities even in our sixth schedule lands. The bengalis biharis have all ready their own states Bangladesh etc. But where will the tribals go even our sixth schedule regions will be taken over. The bengalis and biharis have increased their population and now encroaching our lands and the bangladeshi refugees too have taken over our tribal belts and many illegal immigrants too have taken over all the tribal belts. If you look at Assam even The Bihari population is greater than any single tribal community, Bengali population is greater than any single tribal community. They are all non tribals. Tribals are minorities in Assam. Even in tripura all tribal lands are grabbed. All the non tribals are modern educated and they try to dominate all the tribal regions even. This is not equality this are all politics done by some dictators of the non tribal communities. Non tribals are majorities in Assam why should they fear or face any discrimination. We tribals should fear that our tribal lands are taken. This is racism and this are all tactics of the non tribal people's to dominate the tribal communities. Their are civilised and non civilized people from both tribal and non tribal communities but their must be peaceful solutions to this social problems. As a tribal I would say we all ready became minorities if we don't defend our tribal regions everything our ancestors fought for will be gone. Is this equality. If all the tribals go and encroach bihar or west Bengal or Bangladesh and become majority their will those communities like it. The non tribal communities think they know everything and they try to preach us what the truths are. We tribals feel we are dominated by non tribals and all our ancestors bravery and hardworks will be destroyed and we will be removed from history.

Sixth Schedule soon to be implemented in Region of Darjeeling, Terai and Dooars as PPS for this will be a huge step towards Gorkhaland ! But Gorkhas need to get reincluded into ST like in pre independence.
It would have been implemented earlier, but due to delay in passing the bill after 2005 later in 2007, Bimal got a chance to play a vital role to stop this bill with help of the public in false rumour, propaganda and brainwashing the innocents. Till now those golden 16yrs would have been utilized so smoothly with full planned developments.

Arunachal pradesh and Nagaland have always been neglected, our demands for 6th schedule is very much legit as we havs more then 26 major tribes and more then 100 subtribe. As we are people in border area so they would never listen to our demands.

You have several misconceptions about the actual scenario of the 6th schedule areas in Meghalaya and confusingly mixing certain things about article 371A of Nagaland 371G of mizoram with Meghalaya...
First, 6 th schedule areas in Meghalaya may look fully autonomous or a state within a state but it is not so . Para 12a of the 6th schedule state of Meghalaya states that any laws repugnant to the laws legislated by the state the state law shall take precedence...so any bill about to be passed by the district council even if proposed to the governor sends it right back to the council of ministers which is the state cabinet or members of the legislative assembly...so not fully autonomous...the GOI will have problems trying to take away our rights but look at the Uniform Civil Code how the GOI is bulldozing and the CAA though we are exempted from the law in our areas we do have general constituency areas which is dominated by non tribals especially from Bangladesh...so people who settle there and become Indian citizens will give us problems. Second, criminal cases are taken over by session courts district council judiciary handles civil cases (tribal vs tribal). Third, the taxes the maximum of it is handled by the state govt and the district councils get 25 percent share only and Meghalaya being one of the poorest states in India....you can deduce for yourself.
Fourth, all the major depts have been taken over by the state only now there are ongoing talks(stalled ammendment at the parliament) about the transfer back of minor depts and it involved the ceasefire of armed militants.

Sixth schedule jaruri hai kyuki chote chote bhago mei tribal log vate hai, voh v sirf unke main land northeast india me hee simit hai. Mamulisi sankhyaa ke yah tribes ke jaga par v non tribal ko adhikaaar de diya jayega toh tribal log ekdam si khatam hee ho jayega.
For example tripura fully sixth schedule ke antargat nahi hone ke karan vaha ke chakma tripuri adi logo ka adhikar adhe se jyada chin liya hai. I don't know about other area but in Darjeeling the way tribal status has been distributed is completely illogical.
Rai and limbu are said to be btothers and share same tradition culture and cultural beliefs but limbu has been give tribal status and rai are obc.

I don't think nepali community is discriminated in Sikkim like it happens in other northeast states. In sikkim tribal protection is no use as tribals of sikkim itself are giving off their tribal values and culture when they get converted to Christianity (where Christians are monotheistic where as tribals are polytheistic ) I understand the problem of alcohol abuse as their culture has ingrained it but they can make changes or regulations and not to leave their culture and tradition entirely.

@@soultraveller1090 Go and see 1931 to 1941 Darjeeling Census gorkhas were called hill tribes and btw Gorkhas have citizenship in this country go and check 1988 Gazette issued by Indian Government. First learn some history and politics and comment this kind of bullshit. When we came to India we came along with our land. Darjeeling belongs to Gorkhas it was just illegally absorbed into West Bengal after independence before that it was never even a part of bengal.

This Lachit Barfukan was an Ahom, came from China in 14th century. . Before him the Bengali Hindu King of Pragyotish ( the name of that area before it was occupied by the Ahoms and other tribes from China who named it as Assam), Prithudev defended his kingdom against the Turkish invader Baktier Kihilji. Before the invasions of the Ahoms from China, the entire North East was ruled by the Bengali Hindus, only two survived after the Ahom invasion, Tripura and Manipur.
