- Everyone nowadays is making a 400cc road motorcycle and Triumph does not want to get left behind. And they are going to do it the unmistakable Triumph way.

Triumph need to sack all the dash/speedo designers except the dude/dude-ess who nailed the speed twin 1200 analogue ones 😊
My ear is my tachometer.
I too was thinking why would you want to rev a thumping torquey single! To be honest I rarely rev my BMW R1250RS or R80/7 boxers. It's good to know you can but who needs to.
Had mine delivered in April & finally had its first service.
I quite like the power delivery though it could do with a higher gearing as gearing is a bit low given how well the torque is delivered. Lots of windblast above 60mph hopefully the small screen when available will help and it's giving 76mpg according to the dash read out and improving.
Actually, if I was the dash designer, I would make it exactly like that LOL
Maybe make the clock bigger, but in general it looks good to me!
I think the dash is great!
Especially when you realise that it's not a sportbike, so you don't need to keep your eye on the rev counter, so the speedo becomes more important 😊
@@DaveZee01I agree its a single cylinder, you don't need to thrash the nuts off it, use your ears.
A classy little bike 👍🏻
The bike has rev limiter at 9200rpm!.. This guy is talking 10,000 & 12,000 rpms for the bike! 😛
The bike's top speed at rev limiter is 168kmph/ 104mph on the meter.. Additionally the bike has about 9% speedo error to consider too!..
The bike's highest capable crusing speed is 130kmph/ 80mph on the meter..
I own a Speed 400 from nearly a year now in India.. So all this info is from my personal ownership..
My 2016 Triumph Tiger 800 has an unreadable tiny clock. Good analog tach, digital speed counter. I bought a round 1,1/4 inch analog clock that mounts on front brake perch. Made by oxford. Easy to read at a glance.
Nice review guys thank you. 👍
I have been riding this bike for two weeks now and I absolutely love it. It certainly has alot of low down torque for a 400cc. Those issues of the speedo are minimal. I think mine has a rev limiter at 8000rpm because it's still new.
During running in the rpm flashes if you go above 6000rpm
Great review. Thanks.
Personally I’m more interested in my gear indicator, and even the time, than my rev counter 🤷🏻♂️
Speed and fuel gauge is really all you need. Gear indicator is nice to have, but not essential.
Great video as always. You guys do great work. I don’t know why you are so upset about the time though. I have a bmw 310gs transformer looking thing (funny description but fits) and I love the looks of the new Triumph 400’s. My bike looks great and all but those are what motorcycles are supposed to look like. Should I trade up?
I'm 6ft and sat on one, it feels very small! I had a TT600 and it had the right dash, I agree this one is a little odd, gear indicator is really nice to have though.
The only thing I look at is the speed. Couldn't care less about anything out.
Looking at the instruments, it's pretty obvious the Triumph designers are into speed.😨
If I understand correctly, you don't have the new Royal Enfield's in SA. You are truly missing out on soulful, practical and value for money machines.
Bring back proper dials with chrome covers.
Those clocks are a sign of the decline of triumph.
Bit late to the party, ya SA folks, but not yer fault & well done at that....
Your videos have great commentary and content but your video and audio quality are very behind the times. Would love to see future content in 4k, and better on bike mic commentary quality - the bandwidth limited phonecall/bluetooth quality is distracting and detracts from the quality of your feedback and review.
