Kudo's to Triumph/Bajaj for designing a motorcycle that looks like a motorcycle, not an insect.
Orange insect
I love my insect 1200XC
Funnily enough. Bajaj also manufacturers the 250 and 390 orange insect.
As far as the design is concerned I don't think Bajaj was really 1:25 involved
Making it to a set price..that's Bajajs role here
I hope y'all know that those orange insects could out smoke this on any given day of the week and twice on the weekends right?? 😂
Not 21, its a 19.
Yup
... at 70 yrs of age and 34" inseam , I find the Scrambler X very comfy and the tire upgrade alone makes it worth the extra cash , best suited for forest service roads , this is Not a hard core off road bike but can handle the occasional - [oops , I shouldn't have come down this trail ] ... good review ... safe travels ...
I don’t need one of these, but I’m glad they exist in the market. If I had a buddy who wanted to get his or her first road bike, I would definitely suggest they look at one of these.
In india,
speed 400 - $2800
Scrambler 400x - $3180
😊🎉
it's manufactured here, defintely going to be cheaper
In Australia, we call the inflated prices we pay, "Australia Tax".
Proud owner of Triumph Speed 400..❤
They do look great and I'd love to try the Speed 400 on a tight, twisty road. The new Husqvarna 401s are going to be a great deal too.
Crazy to me that nobody seems to be talking about the huskies. Quicker, lighter, better equipped, more tech and cheaper (at least here in Australia). Looks are of course subjective but I think the svartpilen looks pretty damn cool too
@@jaydiggy86 The Husqvarnas are the elephant in the room, lol. The next gen 2024s are loaded with new features that are unheard of in their price range. I have a '22 Vitpilen, it's the apple of my eye. Cheers Jay, from the USA!
@@jaydiggy86 I can't shake the feeling that they (CZcamsrs) all signed some contract not to mention the Husky! Husky has a new LCD screen, adjustable suspension, quick-shifter up and down, more powerful engine, etc.
I am owning Speed 400 for couple of months now and here in India since RE is so common, this bike is a head turner... Anyone can agree on fit and finish as well as colour schemes. And ya, the suspension even though non adjustable, is tuned for India specific needs and it really absorbs bumps and undulations easily. Cannot say the sme for Western market setup. Its different. That's why Indian model is 6 kg heavier.
How are you finding the fuel economy? Thanks
@@adamlanglois563i am getting 22-25km/litre. Convert it to mile/gallon, if thats the metric in your country. Some may get better mileage if they ride properly & on open roads. I commute in cities bumper to bumper traffic in delhi.
@@bellbottom3202 I'm in Canada so Km/l makes sense to me. That's pretty good on fuel. I'm sure the Speed and Scrambler Will do well here as long as they price them right. I love old bikes for raw power and connection with the machine and new ones for ease and efficiency. Thanks for responding
I’m real impressed with Triumph. Got to tour the US MX compound and see the new 250 dirt bikes. Very cool setup they have here in Georgia. I’ve always liked the Bonnevilles and Scramblers but I really don’t want to spend as much as they cost for a new bike. So looks like I have a good excuse to spend $5k now
Scrambler front wheel is 19” not 21”
strange serendipity. I was looking at the Royal Enfield Hunter yesterday and saw it compared to this bike offhandedly. Today I looked up the prices at the local dealers and the Speed 400 is only $500 more but has way more on offer for performance. I realized that at the current price the bike's a steal, and then I saw your video in my recommends
How much extra cost are the Stealerships adding to that $4,995, and $5,595? $1,000, $1,500 $1,800. Anybody know?
Sorry for the late reply, but I actually just started a job at a motorsports dealership. We sell everything at MSRP or even sometimes below, but mainly only on the Kawasaki models. I'm watching this video because I know absolutely nothing about motorcycles and I saw the Speed 400 in our showroom. I fell in love with the looks, can't wait to save up and buy one.
Looks like rear preload adjustment, not sure why Justin said non adjustable full stop.
I started riding in the 70's when a 400 wasn't considered "entry level" or a "girls bike", I'm not sure why that changed. The truth is these bikes are perfect for the riders of all ages and abilities unless you have specific needs like long distance highway touring etc. Who's driving 100mph oon public roads except hooligans anyway!
Someone please convince Triumph to make a Scrambler 400 XE with 21"/18" wheels and 8" of suspension travel.
Nice video summarising both bikes! ❤
Compared against the Honda CB300R, which is nicer?
This is good and all but imma go with the new KTM Duke 390 2024 Gen3! Coz that bike is the 💣!!🔥🔥 Could you please do a review on that and compare that to this??
Add dyno charts, too.
That's a pretty nice dash/speedo for a 5k bike. I've seen more expensive bikes with less than lackluster dash/speedos
Thank you for the review i was torn between the two for my daughter. Nailed it- speed 400 👍
I’m waiting on my 400X. Just wondering when will the ship get here???? Dealer keeps saying it’s due to the backlog of the canal. As for why the Scram for me? I already have an America & a Storm. The Storm is for the twisty stuff😁
Need a dyno test for both these triumph's.
Best value in motorcycling?: YES. I would add Royal Enfield bikes.
Would you take this over the Honda SCL500?
Go all the way to Spain and have a big production budget , but can't get the specs right ?
This chassis with a 650 twin would be the ticket for sure.
Tough decision on which one - I like the looks of the Speed 400 better, and it apparently handles better. But I'm 6'1", and it sounds like the Scrambler would be more comfortable... fortunately, I can't afford either one, even at those prices....
Mine would not start the first day that i got it. Got it to the shop and they i guess fixed it and now it is doing it all over again and it is back in the shop again. I made a video of what it is doing on my channel. I would turn the key to start and and got nothing, i would then turn it off and turn it back on and it would fire right up. It does this ALL THE TIME!!
I want the triumph speed 400 so bad but in America, it goes from the misleading 4995 to the realistic out the door price of 7200 after including freight assembly and taxes.
Three of the five that arrived at my local dealer have issues. Two are able to be sold. One has hair in the paint, one has a broken turn signal, and one has out of spec top clamp-leaving the handlebars just slightly “tilted” and not square to wheel. Bajaj just pushed too hard.
Lol Bajaj also makes KTM bikes
I’m sold on the 400x
I wish they uses a 270 P twin instead of a single.
These bikes are built to a cost targeting developing markets mainly India.
In India,
speed 400 - $2800
Scrambler 400x - $3180
Love how people just assume there’s no taxes, prep and other dealer fees.
correction: 19" front wheel.
You won’t be able to find a lot of Speed or Scramblers 400… if people have not already put their money down (like with all the Scrambler 400 bikes at my dealership) they will buy them quickly off the floor… I predict that they will be sold out shortly… and for Triumph/Bajaj a huge success…
Yeah but that's true for almost all bikes now .
Was at my Triumph dealer yesterday, and they had several, and were anxious to sell me one. Only my bank balance prevented me....
Add $2000.00 dealer BS please. I understand the tax and registration fees, but an additional $1500 bs fees by “Powersport “ dealerships are the main reason why I don’t buy new.
buy from a mom and pop--stay away from "Powersport" I'm aOTD with freight, tax and tags ~6000
The dealer mark ups in this price point always make them unattractive to me. Nice bike but personally I’ll wait for it in the used market….
Or get a CB500X used ..
No markup for me. $795 delivery fee, not unexpected.
Speed 400 price in taiwan :10000 usd... Fml
Unfair tarrifs .
19 front not 21
Speed cost me $3500 in India !
Too bad you don't have 3500 huh ?
@@leeinwis what do you mean ? I have a Kawasaki worth $10K too
Royal Enfield?
Out the door add $1500-$2000 in USA
Not at my dealership. Pretty standard delivery and setup fees.
Not another review same concrete background same twisty bend in the city same dirt road and same twisty roads all the same reviews as for the 400x well the kings new clothes 😂
Triumph must have invited every motorcycle journo under the sun to India to get them to say nice things about their new bikes. It does look like a good bike, but the indiscriminate gushing in every review is disconcerting. They sound more like advertisements than reviews. I will wait for these bikes to be put through their paces in the real world before making a decision.
Good try by triumph i actually looked into them, as a 40 year old purchasing a bike again after 3 years with no bike , seasoned rider and dont plan on doinf any kind of touring like i use to but at 400cc and 1 cyl for the usa this is too
Small
To be serious, went rebel 500 maybe mext
Time
Triumph
Beautiful bikes but don’t treat the scrambler like a dirt bike or the swingarm will fail catastrophically. Stick to dirt roads or gravel nothing serious. I’m sure there’ll be an aftermarket upgrade or many upgrades but stock it’s not for serious off road.
what are you talking about dude? the 400x was crashed in an accident on a road when the swingarm broke
Wish I had a crystal ball like yours: no experience with the bike but you can see exactly how it will fail.
I am thinking of hiring this guy to manage my stock portfolio--he can see the future perfectly and i bet he doesnt even own a 400X like me@@marcoluoma3770
How much did Triumph pay for this commercial and how much to not mention KTM or Husqvarna?
Not directly comparable except for engine size. Triumph and Husqvarna/KTM are marketing to different customers. I’m interested in these, but would never cross shop it with either of those.
Indians taught them how to cut costs without showing it.
@@makomadeira5799 do you care to explain?
The point I was making is this engine came from the partnership between Bajaj and Triumph and there's another partnership between Bajaj and KTM. A new 399 cc engine was born of both the partnerships. Are the engines same?
Yes.
Check out the bore and stroke sizes of both the engines. They are exactly the same.
So that means platform sharing, which happened through India's Bajaj, made these engines so cheap.
Now you explain the slavery part.
@@makomadeira5799I did not know India had involuntary employment. How silly of me.
@@POVwithRCand that's how they take all the major jobs around the world.
Lol you really want to argue that Indians voluntarily taking jobs that pay more or are better jobs than their other options where the live is slavery?
Guess they should not have job opportunities, so you can feel good. Typical socialist.
Really? You thought if the people didn't slave, the government would miraculously show up every evening to feed them? @@POVwithRC
An when Jesus hisself returns, she'll be a-riding on 1 of deese....
Think the bible says that Moss' Triumph could be heard through out the land.
People need to stop, these ride like 125’s with a little bit more powerful engine, and I can see the local demo bike already has signs of rust. I sell them for a living… I can’t believe how many people want them. 🤦🏻♂️
Lame where is Duke 390 review?
Why is it lame? Because YOU don't like them? 😂
Yes. that's exactly it.
There's plenty duke reviews on yt.
Made in Taiwan
Nope. Not even for a second
Made in India, Thailand and Brazil. None are made in Taiwan
you are?
Not sure why they would have it made in Taiwan and shipped to india
he races so you cant question him haha@@logangodofcandy
Fake Triumph, mights as well say KTM or Husqvarna as they are all made by Bajaj.
Interesting take. I guess based on your logic, iPhones made by Foxconn are fake Apple products. AMD chips made by TSMC are fake AMD products too.
made in the Triumph factory right here where i live--what planet do you live in planet dumb?
And Toyota cars in the US are assembled in the US. Guess Toyota is an American car company
Are they all designed and engineered by bajaj? No they are not. Ignorant comment.
