what a packed video I have for you todays! I've been piecing this video together for the past 3 weeks so it may be a bit back and forth however the coffee bar is finished! I couldn't be happier with the outcome + the tile for the kitchen made an appearence towards the end of the video!

I personally really love the chattier video, I find it really interesting to hear all the new updates and progress! But I also enjoy the video where you tackle more projects as well. Personally I think a good mix of both
The company that installed your marble is phenominal. The way they laid the patterns really brings out the natural beauty of the marble. Using the remnants gives such a luxe look. Such a beatiful home.

About the backyard: Of course you should remove the concrete slab and I dare to predict that soil will appear. You are then free to create some wonderful relaxing and shade giving tropical garden with palm trees and gravel pathways and a fountain with gold fish or even an infinity waterfall staircase towards one of the neighbors. - Breathing in fresh air, sipping a long drink in the shade of a palm tree, trying out some architectual ideas on a laptop...
Oh, yes, it would be so nice to create a green "escape" in the backyard, complete with a splashing fountain!
And hide the view of the neighbors
Just my thoughts on concrete patio. How about putting some good quality fake grass and beautiful palms and plants in beautiful pots?
Or even just lots of potted plants. Grass isn’t practical in SoCal, and would waste so much water.
Look up Spanish Revival Gardens for inspiration. The concrete slab could be tastefully tiled over, for example.
Love the chatty videos dispersed throughout the renovation ones. The coffee bar looks amazing! But we all knew it would, right!?!? Haha

The vertical veins fight w the horizontal veins. Confusing to the eye. Big mistake. Had great potential instead it looks like a guy named Jose did it right before lunch and u latched on to ur FABULOUSNESS. Ask any licensed trained ID...i makes no sense. Eye sore. Trust this u will regret it. Sorry expensive mistake.

Variety is what keeps my interest chatty, styling, holiday decor, updates, total makeovers, room rearranged for optimal design
I like a mixture of chatty updates and DIYs. I think that hearing you talk is so important because you really talk through your design process and why you do things a certain way and what that brings to the space and the eye. Most people wouldn't even think it important to have a nice view from a different room into the kitchen etc but that's what makes spaces cohesive and looking professionally designed.

I love both styles of video. This one feels almost vlog-like, but I like that.
Not everything fills a full video, but the combo of a bunch of different small things that you're chatting through was nice. Plus it sort of feels like we're getting to know you more.

I am obsessed with the kitchen. The way the dark brown cabinets grounds the amazing marble. The way the golden amber glass of the pendants speaks to the hardware, while the iron speaks to the cabinet color. The addition of the diamond mullions. The marble backed open cabinets. Alllll of it 😍😍😍
Curious on how that dining table will be moved HAHAHA and I love hearing you talk about what's going on in the home! I think it's great you're not doing everything on your own. It gives us an idea on what to outsource and what to DIY. Plus I think it's super normal to have second thoughts or grow to like a decision you made (or want to change the paint color... again lol), keeps things realistic and gives us a good idea of how much time passes with these videos in between major / specific room makeovers.

The backsplash behind the coffee bar is gorgeous, it looks like it could be an abstract Japanese nature drawing with a waterfall on the left. I do enjoy the more “chatty” videos because even though I’ve redone a bunch of houses through the years I learn a lot from your thinking process and also appreciate learning more about the items and products you are using. Your “mistakes” are ones any of us would make so they are incredibly helpful to see.

As far as talking through a video, I did not find it boring. For one thing it is fun to share your excitement as things progress, but also explaining your thought process on how you planned the uses and layouts of the rooms and even how random items ( the sectional off the truck) can be a spur of the moment save! 😄
You know, that little storage nook with the window in your storage space. If you could find or build a secretary desk/ built in desk with a nice upholstered chair, you could turn a boring little storage corner into a cute little planning/ brainstorming corner.

Love it! All of it! As for the backyard: I’ve actually posted on a former video that I’d imagine a backyard with native plants. That’s great for the environment (no need for irrigation, plants will survive and maintaining it will be easy etc.) and I think it would complement your style 😊
Exactly! Succulents, cacti, some grasses. There are plenty natives that fill the bill 🪴

Drew the coffee bar inserts look like a mystical painting in marble. I see and eye in the middle right panel and tree roots on the left side. So cool! This whole house is one big art installation and I'm just glad to be along for the ride.

The switch to the diamond mullions was spot on as they echo the somewhat diamond shape of the pendants as well. (Though, for me, I loved the sense of airiness and light of the original window.) And, wow, the marble sealant made a huge impact -- who knew?

I like hearing aboput the process, your thoughts and difficulties. I love how you show that you can maximise style by finding and recycling, preventing good things from going to landfill. Instead of a bland look where everything came from the same shop you mix new and old in a fascinating tableau. I really admire your foliage arrangements and would like to know more about how you source and create the plant arrangements.
Drew, I remember you saying that you might not keep the gazebo in the back yard, but I really believe that it will probably save you quite a bit. As in shade while you are working on outdoor projects, or shelter from rain for projects or wood. Getting a shed is also a must, as you'll need a place to store your power tools, wood, etc. You could put strips of grass/greenery around the edges or take a corner and make it a fun hangout kinda place for backyard events.
