This movie was supposed to be a simple tribute to the game "Battleship" but it was wayyy better than it should've been, probably the best alien invasion genre movie out there.

You know it's a good movie when you'll watch it almost any time you come across it, even having seen it 2 or 3 times before.
I’ve watch this movie for probably over 10-15 times (I can’t help myself,this movie is too good)
I liked it. And I was totally convinced by Rhianna's performance. That was a good 10 minute cut.
Rhianna almost got me wanting to join the Navy, almost.

I remember the first time I watched the movie and I saw the enemy's "bullets" hitting the battleships with their weird cylindrical shapes and thought to myself, "what kind of stupid weapon design looks like a big plastic peg?" I paused a beat and then realized how much I loved the movie.
The correct question is: "What kinda tuckwaggon...?" 🤣
They did not stop hitting me, and for some reason, my jacket has the same number, 63. It has to do with rocket kid, north Korea had a rubber alien, elder 7,allmighty powers, and he wants double what I have. He weights 126 kilo 🤔🌈🌍

This and having transformers dark of the moon and pacific rim a few years later was an amazing time for movies. If i also remember correctly. The dark knight rises was also within the time.

I think keeping things in perspective and in context, and considering the work it took to make this movie, I give it an 8 out of 10 for sure it was really good! 😎👍

I'm rereading the old Lensman series for the xth time. Copyright is a mess, so it'll never be a movie / series, which is a shame. Basically it's all the civilizations of two galaxies against power hungry aliens from another dimension. The oldest alien civilization of our galaxy provides our heroes with "the Lens", a telepathic (spanning galaxies), interpreter and an infallible mark of true blue heroes that can be trusted absolutely.
It's actually much more than that, but it's the last book before humans figure out more uses of the Lens.
This Movie Has The Best CG1 Ever. They Shuold Realise The Battleship 2 for this one
For 2012 movies it has a good cgi, for now it has to be Godzilla franchise

Honestly the navy would have sent a lot more ships than just three destroyers to the scene. The fact that they didn’t use this opportunity to really show the teamwork between the fleets and to also vanquish the threat is a crime

I think the only thing about alien films that bugs me is when they find that the aliens "have elements that don't appear on the periodic table".
Statistically speaking, most of the universe is comprised of the same base elements. I'm sure the aliens would have some "new stuff" that we haven't seen before, but I highly doubt they would be making everything they build entirely out of some compound or element that we haven't seen before.
Perhaps their elements is just beyond our own imagination.
What Bugs me more is actually the Fact. What if the Aliens aren't even trying to be Hostile?!

Presumably, whatever formation was the closest was send to the location to investigate. Ships do not teleport.

Movie does good job honoring history using the USS Missouri Battleship.
The 2 crews work together being Americans & Japanese onboard the Missouri. The ship Japan officials came aboard and signed the surrender that ended WW2.
Although they didn’t sign treaty with Soviet Union until 1952 & officially signed end of war in 1956, so technically you could say that’s when WW2 officially ended. )
Sound design is also great here

I love this movie so much I've probably watched it 8 times already 😂
The premise of this alien invasion movie suffers, like many other movies, from shear incredulity; all these movies portray an alien civilization that can travel across many lightyears, having at least a 1000 year technological head start on us (think where we were 1000 years ago.), as somehow being bested by a bunch of marines with a "can do" attitude. The shear ridiculousness of an alien ship not being able to just fly around but instead having to jump short hops is sooooo insane.
This movie was so silly - I literally had to turn off a portion of my brain to keep watching, but I morosely held on and kept on watching in the hope that maybe there were some good scenes ........... I did like the battleship shooting a salvo (because I am a history buff).
