Where can I get a repair manual for a hydro gear transmission 355-2400? I have one to repair and would like a manual that has the torque specs and rebuild procedure.

cool hydros same size motors as commercials. I have a cub cadet tank which was a very early 2006 version of these hudros - the gears as it has a separate case for that. These are sweet. Btw my 14 yeard old mower with 1500 hours hydros are still working. Change that oil and them filters.

Never mind man I figured out what I did. I ended up purchasing a new cover or cap for the pump and its twice as thick its heavy duty big time but I put it all together and Boom it didn't work so I remembered what you said about the cover being on the wrong way so I flipped it around and it started working really awesome! It was sucking the oil from the reservoir tank faster than I could pour it in. Thanks for the video it helped.

Spot on bud! Excellent tutorial on the ZT-2800 hydro. Very Well explained, and a very good video to boot. Been into to many of these over the years, hard to believe at times alotta dealers won’t repair these anymore! Throw it away and buy new. Crazy! Anytime I can cob these of junk mowers it’s well worth the time especially when parts cost what they do anymore. Just got done with one of these ZT units out of a hustler Fast Track. By- pass shaft busted in half. Great job! And take care!

You did a great job. Ive worked for transmission shops for quite awhile and just bought my first zero turn. Im not feeling too nervous about it going bad on me in the future thanks to your video. Also, if you use "Right Stuff" rtv you wont have to wait overnight to add the fluid. It cures VERY quickly. We use it in the shop for this reason. It also bonds very well to metal surfaces to the point that it cant be peeled off. It needs to be ground off with a wiz wheel. Its not cheap but well worth the price. Great Video!

Mr. DoubleWide6, thank you for this excellent brake down and repair. Learned so much that I have the confidence to repair my failed Troy-Bult 50" Zero Turn. I'm hoping the repair is as simple as a loose check valve, but, if additional parts are needed, I appreciate the sharing of your part source. I have invested far too much in this old ZT mower. To have the transmission go was a huge let down. Discovering your CZcams channel has breathed new life into my project with the hope that a DIY repair can be done for short money and not a $1500+ new transmission. BTW, where did you obtain the repair manual and exploded views of the assembly?

Great job, Bob. It looks scary, but if you take your time, keep track of all the bits and kibbles and have a schematic to use as a guide it's easy enough and at $800 per side new, definitely worth the time to fix it yourself. Did you have to buy any new parts? It looks like you were able to save everything and just repair that valve. Bad Boys are pretty popular in my area, too. Thanks, Bud!!

I have that exact mower, 2008 26 ZT pro and I have had nothing but trouble with it. I bought it with around 50hours on it and at 100 hours, all the spindles went out, at 200 hours the charge pumps started to leak and I replaced those and the spindles again and deck wheels. At 300 hours the Briggs 26hp engine started getting really hard to start, and now at 400 hours, the left Hydro will not work at all. I only use it for my property, so 4 hours per week during the Summer and change the oil every year. I bought a 2020 Hustler X One yesterday 60inch 27hp kawasaki. I'm going to sell the Bad Boy after I replace the Hydro on it.

I enjoy watching your videos. When you were referring to the bypass, is that actually called the dump valve? I've been trying to get the Skag back to moving in the neutral position if you will. I finally found the correct brake adjustment rod after being sent the dump valve rod twice now. After I gave Skag the length of the rod it's finally on it way. I changed the oil in the hydro's and the filter and oil seemed as though they have not been changed since 2006. I had to take the old screwdriver for some extra leverage on one of them. Anyway, so when I was making sure there was no air in system I noticed the left side hydro kept moving when its supposed to be in the neutral position. I have not looked the reason behind it up yet.

Nice to see you got it fixed. I have a Bad Boy identical and can’t figure out an issue I’m having trying to engage the blades, the pro clutch engages but the engine bogs down and dies. I have to try 3-4 times and feather the clutch off and on real quick to keep the motor running until I can finally get the blades turning. After that it runs fine.

I never did figure out the cause but it has got better over time. Right before my problem started I had pulley go bad so I replaced it. In the process I cleaned and repacked all the spindle bearings and greased them really GOOD. I'm wondering if I overdid it with the grease and the added weight in the spindles was causing the problem. I can engage the blades now and don't seem to have the problem with it killing the engine.

Nice work, Bob. I have a question maybe you can answer. I had to replace the bypass rod seal and did it with the unit on the machine. No big deal. I put it back in like you showed, c-clip on and lever but now that unit does not work. So... my question is when you pull the bypass rod out, can that little piece that you held in with grease when you were putting it back together get lost? It's just weird that there's no pressure. TIA, Joe

I watched this video as a guide to take my drive apart. It would not go forward or reverse and I figured that I might as well try because it's totally screwed at this point. Well I have not found anything wrong inside. I was hoping that I had a loose valve like you did but both of mine were tight. I have not taken them apart to see if there is anything wrong but from what I see they are fine. My drive has the polished areas from the piston blocks and like yours I can't feel any grooves. Right now I'm at a loss as to why my drive wasn't working.

Doublewide6, just a quick question I have a Ariens Sport Zoom 1232 zero turn riding mower using the Hydro Gear transmission mfg. 2003. I did the rebuild the right unit. All when well with the reassembly, but dummy me left off the internal "Oil filter" cover. I made the discovery after it was all together. I did the process to purge the air out after a couple of cycles it still will not pressurize to turn the wheel shaft.. My question leaving off the internal oil filter cover cause it not to purge out the air in the casing?? Appreciate your comments. Thanks,

I have I think the 3400 pumps on a 2014 Hustler Raptor sv 60 inch and both of mine sometimes seem to go into neutral, more when going up hill. Mower only has 200 hrs and has been serviced every 100 hrs changed fluid and filters. Could mine be the check valves also? Was that a common problem? Or do I need to look into something else. Fluid that came out was always clean no shavings or anything.

Good video but for the few segments off camera that lacked the visuals to see where parts were going back. I know it’s hard to do these and not get in the cameras way, but for the novice that needs to see the details it would help if you were a little more cognizant of this detail. Otherwise great instruction! Thanks😊

Great video, good job!!! Couple questions: when you buy a new Center Section, it comes with new motor/ pump too?? Also, can you open and fix/ tighten those By-pass valves?? You don't have to replace them?? And one more: correct torque for the cover bolts??? Thanks a lot, youtheman=))

Apparently you need to sand down the motors on a very flat piece of glass.
