You know at some point in the writing, there was one person who kept insisting on the Minions being present in WW2. Slamming their fists, spraying foamy spit with every utterance that the minions, in their gibberish language, giving
"him" pointers on his speech. After they were asked to leave the writer's table, screaming for everyone to hear in the Blue Sky office as they were escorted out how they could've offered "him" a banana instead of a pistol when the bunker was being compromised.
Sadly, I can only imagine a world in which James Corden is in this movie. I feel like after his stunning performance as a rat, voicing a minion or two would be right up his alley. And that's not even mentioning the physical similarities.

there were a few minion blueprints around gru’s lab in the first despicable me movie but I guess they retconned it from being him outright creating the minions to him cloning or otherwise duplicating the minions, since there appears to be only just over a hundred minions by the end of minions (2015) but their numbers have grown by the thousands as shown in posters for the despicable me movies
The best thing about Razzle commentary is that you can never guess what the throughline jokes will be.... like a super computer calculating for a thousand years would never guess that Minions would spark Breaking Bad references.
