there is nothing cooler than watching someone talk about something they're passionate about. i've never been much of a military girl, but from a textiles history buff perspective, i absolutely love seeing all these items being cared for and enjoyed by someone who appreciates their place in history :)
👍
military guys are the male equivalent of true crime girls
@@skoshi_tempestdude she said she was a girl so you ask for her insta? How desperate could you be? For all you know she could be fourteen and now you would be committing a crime.
Ok lets be real how big of a crush do you have on him lolol
@@metalman6708 excuse me?
I usually strongly dislike TikTok/CZcams shorts that are history-related, but I don't think I've skipped ANY of the videos I've run across from you. I also really enjoy the "basicness" of your videos. No AI-generated pictures, fake voices, or "facts" that are just make-believe... just a dude passionate about history. You do a fantastic job and deserve more traffic on your media platforms. Keep at it, man! I hope you get more of what you want for your collection!
I hate all things tik tok and will never. Other than that I agree with everything you said.
Nailed it!
Honestlyyy
Armchair Historian also has some really good shorts.
yeah most history shorts are just phonk edits of germany being a holy godfather :/
Gotta love content made with passion
LETS GOOOOO I KNEW HE WOULD DO IT
As an old soldier, I really enjoy your content, and obvious passion about the WW II era. My father was a veteran of the 11th Airborne Division in the early 1950’s, and I was in the 101st Airborne Division during the Gulf War. The Army is a family tradition for us, it seems. Thanks for sharing your collection!
Welcome home sir
for my family it's a combo of Army and Marine Corps, nearly everyone in my family has joined either one.
That's awesome. Thanks you for your service 🪖💛
Thank you for your service!❤
Thank u for your service sir
@18:36 the rifle stock seems to be a Turkish Mauser Stock. You seem to have a very comprehensive collection!
I love that razor-blade sharpener. I just love things that move themselves mechanically to interact.
The wind up sharpener was BRILLIANT!!
I wish I had the money to have an awesome collection like that
I'd suggest asking around, you'd be surprised how man older folk have this kind of stuff just lying around. I got most of a US Korean War uniform and a load of other gear from one guy, a 40mm AA shell from another, and if all goes to plan a neighbor will be dropping off a dress uniform this weekend. Its all about who you know.
@@jaspertaylor2810who do you know, I wish I could find someone willing to give me a ww2 Australian army uniform or a 40mm AA shell, that is so cool.
Like the other guy said lots of older folk just have stuff laying around. I have my grandparents blankets and bags from both sides of my family from when they fought in Korea
I wish my great grandfather and his brothers weren’t treated like cannon fodder by the big green weenie and they kept their stuff instead of dumping it in the ocean.
Impressive collection. Did you ever consider collecting vintage music (78 RPM records) that the troops listened to during the war years?
I was honestly pleasantly surprised by the diversity of items you had. A lot of people just do weapons but the little tools and gadgets the military used are far more fascinating.
i love seeing videos of people happily showing their hobbies to others!! (especially when i share the same hobbies)
there’s just something about it that stimulates my brain
I love WWII history and watching your YT Shorts. As a (obsessive) collector of film camera and accessories, I know how it feels to share your passion with others and how joyful it can be to go through your own collection.
My family has a history of collecting antiques and watching you have me wonderful memories of my grandfather showing me his collection!
this is like watching a child show someone all their toys. similar to how i am when someone asks to see my small collection in my room. its always super wholesome. also if i ever find a vintage radio, its definitely gonna get fixed up and used lol.
8:15 Jesus H Christ, why is your footlocker unlocked?!
Hooooooly Sh*t! I'm a fellow reenactor, and I have a collection of Civil war, WW1 and WW2 gear and all of my stuff combined does not ammount to this level. You are truly living history.
I will say this is an impressive collection and you can easily explain each item in great detail, however small nitpick as a fellow military collector I have multiple patches in my collection, similar amount to your own, and I noticed that your 101st Airborne patches on the uniform would be post war as the edge of the patch is more embroidered than the "cut edge" style of WW2. I know you can't tell from a distance of course at reenactments, it just caught my eye. Once again, great collection!
Great content. Here is a little tip for you about break top revolvers like your or Webley's. After shooting do not drop the barrel to eject the empties. They will often jump over the star and cause a tough jam. Drop the frame while keeping the barrel horizontal. All empties will fall completely free. This was from an old Brit soldier I knew.
Mr WWW, I'd like to thank you for getting me into this hobby, I hope I could be a reenactor like you someday
By far your best video.
Keep it up man. This is awsome.
Edit
Another loose end was... NO PING!!!!!!
You need to get your hands on a frog skin helmet cover used in World War II by the marines in the Pacific. They are very beautiful and put on a helmet especially the used ones.
You actually ended up having more stuff than i thought you would 😅. Its so humbling to see this stuff so long after such an impactful era. Thanks for sharing!
This is the best !!! I know I'm enjoying a video when I suddenly notice that I got my elbows on the desk and I'm looking real close at the screen to seen something you're talking about. Your collection is superb. You have such a variety of stuff and you know so much about it. This video was fun and a learned a bunch and, yes, I anticipating the next one !!!
I nearly died watching this video this is the coolest room i have ever witnessed.
Totally enjoyed this. That record player sounded exactly as I imagined it would.
What a FANTASTIC video and a wonderful collection. It's great to see younger people keeping history alive. Now, I'm not American but I served over 20 years flying in the British and Australian Air Forces and fought alongside the Americans, Canadians and others in Afghanistan and Iraq after 911.
Our military histories are closely woven together throughout WWI, WW2, Korea and Vietnam as well as both Gulf conflicts. We fought off the German invasion, vanquished the Axis, pushed back against communism, fought terrorism and upheld freedom at every stage of every battle.
Your passion for history allows the stories of those brave men and women to live on as well as serve as a reminder of the sacrifices they made.
Keep up the great work, I'm working my way through all your videos after finding your channel....GREAT STUFF!!!
That Mauser looks like it’s from ww1 or before. It’s absolutely massive and many ww1 early rifles were massive
Holy Cow! Late to the Game but, Tomorrow is June 6th! The Invasion of Normandy! The Start of the Most Aggressive Landing Ever that Ended WW2! I Love Watching Someone as Young as You That has the Passion to Remember and Honor All Those that came before us! The so called pup tent with two sides was what i slept in the USMC during Basic training in 1984! Long Live Tradition! I have my 1980's gear But, Now Want to Honer the WW2 and Korean Vets! Thank You for Reminding me and everyone else about the WHAT our soldiers Had to use and Deal with! As a civilian I tip my hat to You! As a Veteran I Salute the Cause you Do To Preserve Our History and Heritage!
Whole video feels like a kid excited to show off his toy collection, and I love it. I'm the same way with my antiques lol
What were the specific songs you used for the backround music?
Omg you're right!
"hey Timmy, wanna see my WW2 military collection?"
As a WWII history nut I did 82nd AB reenactments back over 20 years ago, it's fun seeing your enthusiasm for the era and history. Still have most of my stuff but sold my WWII Winchester M1. One of my favorite pieces came from my brother inlaw who had a mint unused fixed bail helmet with liner he got at a army surplus, I couldn't believe it. Also managed to find a set of unused rations at a local antique market. It was alot of fun collecting and enjoyed doing living history events. I mean how many people can say they walked next to a moving WWII Sherman tank with vintage planes flying overhead, talk about an experience.
I still have my Dad's WW2, long, rolled up unit photo. The only part of his uniforms that survived many hurricanes was his officers service hat. Have his "War Department" ID card as well.
I would enjoy seeing a video about your various books/manuals.
Great video !
Love seeing your collection and seeing how passionate you are about WWII history. Really enjoyed watching this, thanks for sharing, Smith! o7
I love this sort of content! I am also very passionate of WW2 history and such, but I do not have any type of collection. So cool to see people like you who have so many different kinds of things from that era! Also, im not from the US but my great grandfather served in the finnish army during the finnish winter war, and possibly the continuation war.
I think the most interesting part of your collection is the it’s not just weapons! It’s not even the majority. You really take interest what I would refer to as “a slice of life” from that era
I've been waiting so long for this vid, keep up the good work!!!
imagine robbing this guys house and then seeing a WWII murican’ soldier run at you with a bayonet
I have a jacket from my grandmothers uncle who was a gunner on B52’s. It’s very awesome and in good condition. I plan on keeping it and passing it on to my kids. I love WW2 history and equipment. When I was younger and airsoft I packed my Thompson sub and 1911 and dressed as authentically on a budget as I could while other people dressed super modern lol. I think WW2 is so profound and people are so into collecting things from the war because it was truly one of the only good vs evil feeling wars that had so much heroism behind it.
JESUS AND GOD LOVES EVERYONE SO MUCH TURN TO THEM BEFORE ITS TO LATE
Yes, we've been waiting for this for so long!, Finally!
I'm new to your channel. You're doing a great job. So nice to see the younger generation as excited about ww2 and the ETO. I used to have a large collection of original US and German pieces. Now I have the jacket worn by Gordon In band of Brothers, where he gets shot through the arms while making coffee and a 1942, 1911, and an extremely early inland M1 carbine (flip sight, no bayonet lug). I enjoyed the video of your inventory. Keep up the good work.
All I have are the items that belonged to my Father. He was a naval aviator who was winged at NAS Jacksonville. Plus His certificate stating he was a AVN that was signed by RAdm Chester Nimitz, his Ensign commission was signed by Forrestal. I also have his original Gold Wings, his DFC and Air Medals and ribbons. I have his navy issued PAL knife, waterproof map of the slot, logbooks and his flight school yearbook. It’s all meaningful to me and my son. An interesting piece is a 1913 dated M1911 pistol that belonged to Ret BGen Willis Whelchel that he carried through wwii through Korea.
this is awesome i loved this video, keep it up man
Awesome collection! Enjoyed seeing all the variety from different branches of service. Years ago when I reenacted, only did 3rd Inf. Div, so cool to see you can do Navy, Airborn, Medic ect. Lots of fun! Keep collecting, perserving and sharing!
this is such a nice dude, very cool to see someone so happy about his hobby
I had been curious about this, so it was a great video! I didn't mind the length at all. The closet reveal was amusing, but I think my favorite might still be the razor sharpeners. +1 to the idea of getting a sailors' uniform that fits too! The uniforms are always amazing to see
Great job! I used to do CW reenacting until I got too old. My 4th Great grandfather was with Co. C 42nd NCST CSA and was drafted at age 42 and killed in battle. I have copies of letters he wrote home during the War. I also used to skirmish with the N-SSA and got to shoot some original weapons with actual Minie Balls and artillery loads at targets for scoring. I have an accumulation of weapons from the WBTS (repro Colt rifled musket), a couple of M-1903, a M-1917, M-1 Carbine, M-1911, M-1 Rifle (AKA Garand) M-14 with actual Vietnam bring back magazine, M-4 semi auto (legal) all with appropriate bayonets. I also have helmets from WW I, WWII, Korean War winter hat that was my dad's. Keep history alive!
You should add some rubber bayonets to your collection so we can fight some more
True, but that ended with both of us dying last time 😂
I'd love to take a private tour of your house so you can show and explain all the objects 😍 Priceless!!! Love your collection!
I used to have one of those radios that you have on the shelf it was very neat and worked well, I really like the record player you got as well
You have a really fantastic collection...and it was a treat looking at it all. Cheers mate 👍
I've been waiting for so long! thank you!
Makin me jealous! You have a great collection man, keep it up!
This has got to be the best video I've seen in a long time!🎉
I've been looking at this video for days and finally got around to watching it. So glad I did.
Your collection is amazing! It'd be impossible for me to have this many WW1-2 original items (or even replicas) because I'm quite far from places of original conflict, but I'm sure I'll find an item like a bayonet or knife to display:) You've greatly inspired me to start a collection of my own!
JESUS AND GOD LOVES EVERYONE SO MUCH TURN TO THEM BEFORE ITS TO LATE
Really impressive collection! I loved watching this video! All of your stuff was very interesting, and I had no clue you had so much! Very glad I stumbled along your channel!
cool collection. And thanks for being honest about was post WWII or reproduction. Also big props for letting us know when you had doubts about some of the stuff. It's hard to know everything about gear and accessories because the records on the small stuff is all so often incomplete.
Love your content. Keep this up it's awesome!
Really enjoyed the video! I would like for you to make a video with you wearing a complete Navy "Cracker Jack" Uniform. You gotta love WWII Sailer Uniforms! ❤️😊
Very cool collection. I am slowly collecting some items from WWII for my M1 display. I know that most items are available, but it takes time to find the right ones at a reasonable price. Thanks for sharing.
I bet you had a blast putting all your gear and stuff back
This very impressive!! I’ve always been interested in ww2 history and gear. Also the background music is a banger
I found you through your short videos but your wicked cool! Love your content!!
Thank you for sharing, my late grandfather served in the Pacific theater in the Marine Corps during WWII. He was in the Philippines, Saipan and was on Okinawa. I have his K-Bar the leather lanyard is braided intricately. Something he did to the pass the time while bored
Those razor sharpening kits are amazing! I've got to get one for my collection! Amazing content man keep it up!
Wow! Your study is literally a time capsule! That is so impressive! I only have a few relics from wwii including a German and Russian replica helmet but I do hope someday to expand it like your collection! Keep it up with the great content!
JESUS AND GOD LOVES EVERYONE SO MUCH TURN TO THEM BEFORE ITS TO LATE
Marvelous collection. Love your channel and your enthusiasm! 🇺🇸🫡
The fact that he went out of his way and took probably an a hour to show us and talk about his collection is really freaking cool
That was a really cool and interesting show and tell. Those razor sharpeners were really interesting.
The radio might be off because of the vacuum tubes, I heat they can be quite delicate??
22:38
his son has good taste in music and fashion
If Captain America has a CZcams channel:
I Love your Collection Man you got alot of amazing interesting stuff
Keep these Videos Coming Dude
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I have a good little collection going so far but yours is truly amazing ❤
I primarily collect German WWI-WW2 militaria, I admire the passion and enthusiasm for your personal collection. Keep at it!
Love ur videos man
Rolls razors were definitely used in WWII, my paw used one during the war, not sure if he brought it from home or got it over seas. Your first aid kit is a jeep first aid kit, and the larger one would have gone on a larger vehicle
Cool collection dude!
Cool stuff. Your collection is amazing. It’s nice to see that young people like you have a love for WWII history. It makes me very happy to see that this part of our American history is still being seen by people. I had two Uncles WWII.
I love your study and am envious (in the good way lol!)... I used to have one very similar to yours.
I do have a suggestion: old framed maps, photos, and auto magazine adds-- preferably from WWII, but European maps, ads and sites would really flesh out the period atmosphere
I’d love some more long form videos on equipment.
Awesome to see the collection👍
JESUS AND GOD LOVES EVERYONE SO MUCH TURN TO THEM BEFORE ITS TO LATE
One of my buddies was really into WWII reenacting, his collection wasn't as extensive as yours but he did have some interesting item, essentially he had one reproduction field uniform with appropriate web gear and an original dress uniform that fit him, I don't know if it was a rule for his unit but most guys represented the 29th Infantry Division because we lived in Virginia and some of the guys had family members who had served in that unit. One night he invited me and my wife to his place for a Christmas party and a guy from his reenactijg unit was there and they were both wearing their full WWII dress uniforms.
Favorite CZcamsr 🫶🫶
Also Reed is great! I’ve met him at a couple events.
28:30 just wanted to say that’s a repro SS belt buckle,
Also love your videos! 😊
He states it's a repro in the video
@@johncataloni8552 oh I know, I was saying what type of belt buckle it is.
About a month ago I started my own World War II collection. So this video was fun to watch and I learned a lot. Very impressive collection.
5:15 WE MAKING IT OFF NORMANDY BEACH WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥
Great stuff man! See you at D-Day!!!
You should show some more of that field phone. Those are cool, not many people do videos on them. I have two working ones myself, they're fun to play around with.
Love ur vids bro!
Great video! Thanks for sharing your collection.
That is a great collection. WWII history and memorabilia will pull you in and you will obsess over it.
Absolutely loved the content
FINALLY I’ve been waiting for this for ages dude you have no idea you have so much cool shit🤣
Love ur vids bro
Awesome! I love seeing collections
Great video love it
Great vid sir. Well done 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice job. I like the medic kit . You need more stuff. Congrats on the CZcams plaque.
Great job! On the video and on the collection. It's wonderful to see younger people interested in this pivotal American history. No doubt, use the repro stuff when you re-enact. I know that paying a premium for repro stuff seems foolish when you can get original stuff for less - but you will wear it out. And stay focused (I didn't - hahaha). If I made a video like yours it would take 4 days. I know some guys where it would take months or even years. Move along the stuff that is not within your focus. Anything historical is very cool and worth trying to find the right home for. And yes, I watched the whole video so I am a WWII nerd - my whole life. One last thought, when you have over 200 WWII reference books, then, you have "a lot".
you should make short-film with all this stuff!!!
Hi my PaPa seeverd with the Railsplitters 84th Infantry 333rd C company he was wounded in France...I am a WWII guru I love your videos and this video was great! Thanks for sharing
I always love seeing room tours!
