  • Thanks again to Tyler (@tylerkopplin on Instagram) for sending me all this awesome stuff for free!
This mystery box of WWII gear was so much fun to open up. I'm sure I could have asked in advance and found out everything that was in the box before he sent it, but having it be a surprise was so much more rewarding. I'm very happy with all the things I got in this box. I will certainly be able to use the field gear for WWII re-enacting, and you will have to wait and see how I end up using all those helmets I got! (one of them already has a gopro mount on it). Make sure to like and subscribe for more WWII collecting, re-enacting, and history content!

Nice haul. Something to keep in mind with m1 helmet shells though, is that the seam doesn’t always dictate the era, m1 helmets started being produced with a rear seam around 1944, so there were ww2 helmets with a rear seam. Another way to tell is if it had a stainless steel rim, it’s most likely ww2, however there was 1 or 2 helmet makers in Vietnam that bought surplus rims from ww2 and put on the helmets they made.

The 10 pocket cartridge belt is for the 1903 Springfield. The extra "strap" on the inside of the pockets is to keep the 5 round stripper clips separated.

Fun fact: some WW2 US helmets had the seem in the back. Only late war 1944. So check the heat stamp to see if it’s post war or not

Awesome package. One thing to keep in mind on post war M1 shells, Vietnam era M1s have a different profile and won't fit a WWII or Korean era liner properly. Korean shells are essentially the same as WWII in appearance minus all the differences you're already aware of, of course. Just speaking on overall shape

Nice haul. OD7 rifle belts were manufactured from 1943 onwards, I have several in my collection. Collectors dismiss OD7 field gear as late war, and it wasn't used so on and so on. It was used and was manufactured 43> same as transitional gear, OD3 pouches with OD7 trim, rifle belts made from multiple shades of OD, it was all issued and used. Not all WW2 gear is OD3.
Rear seam helmets were introduced alongside front seam helmets 44> as front seam lids dried up, rear seam took over. There's evidence of rear seams being found in Normandy with several books showing pictures.
Keep these videos coming, they are good. 👍🏻

Unmodified 1944 packs are fairly uncommon. There's 1944 and 45 system, which changes including how the lower pack attached. Most 1944 packs seem to have been modified to accept 1945 lower packs. I presume few 1944 lower packs for made. I had two WW2 lowers and both a 1945 and modified 1944 upper.

And paratroopers. Late war, revised suspenders with padding were produced. Without padding, with heavy loads the clips dig in to your shoulders, hence photos of paratroopers with blanket material used as padding. I've never actually seen an example of the padded suspenders being used in WW2, even though they were produced during it.

When I was in high school..
In history class believe it or not I had college history classes instead of regular history because I read a lot about war since i was five..
When the subject of war and ww2 came .,I knew a lot especially battle field conditions and had Nazi war booty . I would to in class that the book was wrong the teacher wouldn’t disagree with me. But my class mates how would you know this what makes you a expert .. I stood up and said Because my father is ww2 combat veterans of ETO And fought under Patton. Your lying maybe your grandfather but not your dad .. I said no my father no my father. There parents were my brother and sisters age . Of course i proved it them and shocked and I brought ww2 memorabilia and photos of the war and Nazi Swatztiker. They couldn’t believe it . I was and still am incredibly proud that he was my father..
Then I told them that my grandfather fought in WW1..
And was had mustard gas poisoning and died in the mid 1930s very young..
NOW ALL MY FAMILY ARE TEX/MEX all born in Texas my family came to Texas when Geronimo was captured and taken to fort Sam Houston..
    dropped off at Apache park.
We have put with all racial comments from flirty hethen Indian to dirty wetbacks and my family still volunteered to die for this great nation called America
    🇺🇸
    That’s a true story
